Notes: Before the show started everybody from the back came out for the ten bell salute honoring the memory off Mitsuhara Misawa who had passed away earlier in the day.  In other sad news, Giuseppe, the timekeeper, shaved off his mustache. The show started with Austin Aries coming down and saying how New York is supposed to be full of tough people but he doesn’t think so. He said he remembered a day in September when New York wasn’t so tough and then he brought up the incident from December where a fan attacked him.  The crowd booed his reference to 9/11 and he said “Too soon?” As a native New Yorker and someone who remembers that day very clearly, I can say it will always be too soon.  I thought that comment was worse than when Larry Sweeney tried to get Bobby Dempsey to rape Allison Danger….The Young Bucks seem to be a good high-flying tag team….For the first time ever, a chair was used in a match at the Hammerstein Ballroom.  These chairs are not the metal folding chairs everyone else uses.  They are heavier. Jimmy Rave used it to hit Necro Butcher in the leg during their match.  Necro was saved post match by Colt Cabana…..During the four-way some spit flew out of D’Lo’s mouth and landed on a ring rope. It hung there until Colt got Irish whipped into it.  I have never seen that before and, while it really means nothing, I report it because I am thorough. Cabana forced d’lo to submit to the Billy Goat’s Curse….Most of the first blood match occurred before the bell. They were brawling all around ringside.  Both men are on the top rope when Jimmy pulls out the spike and he stabs Tyler in the head with it. Tyler falls into the ring and so does Jimmy.  The bell rings to start the match and the ref checks Tyler.  Of course, he’s bleeding and the match is over.  The fans weren’t happy and neither was Tyler.  He threw Jimmy into a corner and started kicking him. The ref tried to stop him but was thrown out of the ring.  Another ref, Paul Turner came down but was hit.  So was Bobby Dempsey.  Eventually, Tyler stopped and said he came to New York looking for redemption and he was going to get it. He said if Cary Silkin had the guts, he’d put him in the world title match.  We found out later that’s what he did…I think Sonjay may be faster than Rey Misterio…Davey Richrads executed a beautiful shooting star press to the outside…Aries came out at the start of the main event to Ric Flair’s music.  He said that due to circumstances beyond ROH’s control Ric Flair could not be the special outside ring enforcer and so, there wouldn’t be any. Nigel came out and said he would be the enforcer.  Tyler pinned Lynn with God’s Last Gift and Aries pinned Tyler with the brainbuster.  The crowd cheered Lynn getting pinned and a lot of people, including me were pulling for Tyler…. I think a few people were ejected for throwing garbage at the ring...The next show is 9/26 in the Grand Ballroom and Bret Hart will be there.  Unfortunately this is the night before Yom Kippur starts so I probably won’t be going.

Manhattan Mayhem 3 Results

10 Bell Salute for Misawa. Crowd was respectably silent for the whole thing.

Aries cuts a promo about how he's going to win the title tonight.

1: Young Bucks def Rhett Titus and Kenny King with a Swanton and Moonsault. "Great match."

2: Necro Butcher def Jimmy Rave with a rollup. Afterwards Jimmy locked the Heel Hook on Necro, but Cabana ran in to make the save.

Ric Flair cuts a promo putting ROH over huge.

3: Roderick Strong def Sonjay Dutt with a Gibson Driver.

Bret Hart announced for the next New York show, which will be at the Grand Ballroom instead of Hammerstein this time.

4: Jimmy Jacobs assaults Tyler Black before the bell and has him bleed before the match even begins, scoring an assumed victory. Tyler snaps and beats Jimmy into a pulp and announces that with Jacobs out of the way, he's cashing in his title shot tonight, making it a three way dance.

5: Colt Cabana def Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli, and D'Lo Brown by making D'Lo Brown submit to the Billy Goats Curse.

6: Submission Match for the ROH World Tag Team Championship: American Wolves(c) def Kevin Steen and El Generico to retain the titles when Edwards made Generico submit to a single leg crap after hitting his knee with the bell.

7: Jay Briscoe def Little Guido Maritato with the Jay Driller. "Surprisingly a pretty good match."

8: Three Way Dance for the ROH World Championship: Austin Aries def Tyler Black and Jerry Lynn(c) to win the ROH World Championship.  Nigel McGuinness is the ringside special enforcer. Tyler Black eliminates Jerry Lynn first with the Small Package Driver. Austin Aries eliminates Tyler Black with a Brainbuster to win the ROH World Championship. Austin Aries is the first ever two time ROH World Champion.
