Smackdown opened with C.M. Punk explaining that he was blinded at the end of the match and kicked the referee by accident. He was unhappy with Jeff Hardy attacking him for no reason after the match and demanded that Hardy come out and apologize. Instead, Teddy Long came out and announced Punk would defend the title against Jeff Hardy at the Night of the Champions. Fit Finlay b Ricky Ortiz Dolph Ziggler is now dating Maria Ziggler b R-Truth clean Kane b Rey Mysterio clean. Kane continued to beat on him after the match until Great Khali made the save with a chair They announced for "next week" (tonight in Bakersfield) would be Mysterio vs. Jericho for the IC title Cryme Tyme b The Hart Dynasty when Shad pinned David Hart Smith Melina & Maria b Michelle McCool & Layla Edge & Chris Jericho b Jeff Hardy & C.M. Punk in a non-title match. First Punk was selling the eye injury and not there when Hardy wanted to tag out. Then Punk was in, went to tag Hardy, but Hardy suddenly sold like he couldn't see and wasn't there for the tag. Edge then speared Punk to get the win Dark match Mysterio & Jeff Hardy b Edge & Jericho with Mysterio pinning Jericho and Hardy pinning Edge in a cage in about 90 seconds |
