FIGURE FOUR WEEKLY: Figure Four Weekly 8/14/2017: PROGRESS comes to Boston

On the second stop of their weekend in the United States, British promotion PROGRESS Wrestling presented an intimate show in the Boston area on Sunday night. Things didn't go quite as planned up to that point. It started when PROGRESS and WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne couldn't wrestle on either show after being busted open in an indie match on Friday. Then, TK Cooper suffered an ankle injury in New York and the excessive heat in the crowded venue marred what otherwise appeared to be a fun show.

Pro Wrestling

  • Global Force Wrestling taped again last night for an episode of Impact that will air on September 7th. The show featured the debuts of AAA talent Pagano, El Texano Jr. and Taya Valkyrie. The show ended with an angle where Jeremy Borash announced that Bobby Lashley was quitting GFW. Lashley came out and said he wanted one final match in the promotion, and he wants it to be against Moose.
  • CNN reporter Jim Acosta tweeted a picture of an empty White House briefing room last night, and what do you know, AXS highlights from the G1 Climax tournament were on the TV.

UFC/MMA

  • Junior dos Santos’ management have released a statement regarding his USADA test failure. They say he tested positive for hydrochlorothiazide, which is a banned diuretic.  They don’t know how this appeared on his test, and have already looking into his supplements to determine where this diuretic came from.
  • Bigfoot Silva responds to criticism regarding him facing a far more accomplished kickboxer, Rico Verhoeven, in his kickboxing debut for Glory.
  • Andrei Arlovski will face Junior Albini at UFC Fight Night in Norfolk, Virginia on November 11th.
  • In a battle of undefeated fighters, Deiveson Alcantara (12-0) will face Jarred Brooks (13-0) at UFC Fight Night in Sao Paulo, Brazil on October 28th.
