OVW TV report 6-6 Louisville
Thursday, 07 June 2012 18:18
By Trent Vandrisse Here's the Ohio Valley Wrestling Television report for episode#668, that was taped on June 6th, 2012, with an air date in Louisville of June 9th. This episode is already available online at www.ovwrestling.com
This was the taping following the June 2nd OVW Saturday Night Special that saw title changes in three out of the four title matches on that show, all of the changes being won by babyfaces over heels. However Josette Bynum and her "Family" did manage to hold on to the OVW Heavyweight title when Rob Terry beat "Smooth" Johnny Spade by DQ, thanks to a huge assist from heel referee Chris Sharpe.
Gilbert Corsey and Kenny Bolin were the TV announcers for this show. Ron Hed was the ring announcer.
Cliff Compton worked a TNA dark match before the live Impact last Thursday, losing to Crimson.
"Mr. PEC-Tacular" Jessie Godderz is featured in the current issue of "Planet Muscle" magazine, and will be in next months "Muscle & Fitness" magazine.
This episode opened with a great music video with clips from all of the key matches at the June 2nd Saturday Night Special.
"Smooth" Johnny Spade and Cliff Compton came to the ring in an upbeat mood, and talked about all the changes in OVW coming out of Saturday Night. Spade then brought out the new OVW Women's champion Epiphany, the new OVW Southern tag team champions Shiloh Jonze & Raul Lamotta, and the new OVW TV champion Jamin Olivencia. Spade then called the rest of the OVW babyfaces to the ring as well to celebrate. Spade said he did not win the OVW heavyweight title back from Rob Terry due to referee Chris Sharpe, and Spade's mic was cut off at that point.
At this point out came Josette Bynum, along with her "Family", sans Rob Terry who was absent tonight, and referee Chris Sharpe. Bynum said OVW Board of Director member "Nightmare" Ken Wayne, along with the rest of the OVW BOD, will not be here tonight because she has them tied up in a meeting with her Attorneys. Bynum said she is the best Talent Arbitrator ever, and has secured title shot rematches for her "Family" members, which will happen tonight.
Taeler Hendrix and Dylan Bostic ran into Bynum backstage. Hendrix asked Bynum to give her a rematch for the OVW Women's title tonight. Bynum said no, because the rematch clauses for tonight are only for her "Family" members. Hendrix protested that she sided with Bynum several weeks ago, but Bynum wouldn't budge. When Bynum walked away, Hendrix slugged her wimpy boyfriend Dylan Bostic and said this was all his fault.
Also backstage were the much happier couple of Ted McNaler & Brittany DeVore. McNaler gave DeVore a present, but became distressed when he discovered that someone had already opened it up, and ruined it. DeVore was just happy with the thought of McNaler giving it to her though. Adam Revolver was shown watching this thru a window, with an evil look on his face.
1. Tony Gunn beat Eric Wayne
Eric Wayne is the son of Ken Wayne, which was mentioned on commentary. Tony Gunn didn't have Ralphie his stuffed bear with him tonight, or his happy pills, but he did have doggie treats. Kenny Bolin asked the all too logical question on commentary of why doesn't Tony Gunn just go buy another stuffed bear. Gunn overwhelmed Wayne and beat him with a Bear Hug turned into an Alabama Slam.
After the match Nick Dumeyer, who is now acting quite a bit like a hound dog hot on the trail, came to the ring and grabbed Gunn and took him backstage to where Ralphie was. Gunn gave Dumeyer the dog treats as a reward, but Dumeyer didn't look impressed. Raphael Constantine with three ladies came into the room, and Constantine beat Gunn up and took Ralphie, who Constantine stole from Gunn a few weeks ago, back. Gunn was yelling that his eyes were injured from Constantine's attack.
2. "The best tag team ever" Rudy Switchblade & Jessie Godderz w/Josette Bynum beat Shiloh Jonze & Raul Lamotta to win the OVW Southern tag team titles
This was the first of the title rematches as ordered by Josette Bynum earlier in the show. Chris Sharpe was the referee here. The match ended up in the exact situation it did on Saturday night when Jonze and Lamotta won the tag titles of Jonze having Godderz rolled up for the pin, but Chris Sharpe wouldn't make the count. Sharpe however did make the three count a short time later when Godderz had Jonze pinned, while Rudy Switchblade held Jonze' legs down from the apron, to regain the tag titles for Switchblade & Godderz just four days after losing them.
Next came "A moment in Paredyse" segment. Paredyse talked about his "I quit vs I admit" match on Saturday Night against Brandon Espinosa where Espinosa had to admit he was Gay if he lost, which he did. Paredyse said he respected Espinosa for making the admission, and said Espinosa was now a beautiful butterfly out of the cocoon. This segment was dying badly with the live crowd early on. Paredyse then brought Espinosa, who came out with a pink feather in his jacket pocket, pink fuzz around his boots, and appeared to be wearing a Tutu, which he took off and offered to Paredyse, who put it on. Paredyse and Espinosa then put each other over, after having a long feud with each other. Paredyse said he's been doing a lot of thinking, and then dropped to one knee, and asked Espinosa to be his "partner", while Corsey and Bolin wondered aloud in the booth what kind of "partner" Paredyse meant. The crowd came alive by this time, chanting "Just say yes". Espinosa did indeed say yes, and he and Paredyse hugged. Espinosa then said let's have a ceremony for this next week. Uh oh.....This has become a spoof on Gay marriages angle. lmao
Prince Bolin was backstage yelling at his Bolin Services 2.0 troops because Bolin had to take 10 lashes from the Autistic Mickie McMichael on Saturday Night. BS 2.0 member Rocco Bellagio, who was banned from the building on Saturday, chastised Joe Coleman and Jack Black for dropping the ball on Saturday. Jack Black will have a chance to make this up at this Friday's OVW house show in Black's hometown of London, Ky.
Meanwhile elsewhere backstage, Jason Wayne cut a promo on Chris Silvio's entourage of Mo Green, Mary Jane and the midget of how much better he is than Silvio, and has proven it before, and will prove it again. Where was Silvio during this?
3. Mohamad Ali Vaez w/Josette Bynum beat Jamin Olivencia to win the OVW TV tile, but the title was then held up
This was the other title rematch ordered by Bynum for tonight. Chris Sharpe was again the referee. Kenny Bolin compared the years long off and on Vaez vs Olivencia feud to that of Jerry Lawler and Bill Dundee, saying each man would have to pull off something new here to win it. Olivencia punched the ringpost early on when Vaez ducked him on the floor. Vaez went to work on the sore hand in the ring. Vaez with a double armed DDT on Olivencia. Olivencia slammed Vaez off the top rope, ala Ric Flair. Vaez with a second rope suplerplex on Olivencia. Olivencia came firing back with several moves. Gilbert Corsey talked a lot about the iffy refereeing of Chris Sharpe during this match, who was favoring Vaez here no doubt. Olivencia went into an exposed second turnbuckle, but still kicked out. The OVW TV title belt came into the ring, while Sharpe looked at Josette Bynum. Vaez went for a top rope superplex, but Olivencia fought him off. Olivencia hit his "O Drop" clamping DDT finisher, but Vaez got his foot on the rope. Olivencia had Vaez pinned with a small package, but Sharpe rolled the pile over, and then counted Vaez pinning Olivencia for the finish. Another very good match between these two. This was said to be the beginning of Vaez' 7th OVW TV title reign, but it's actually 6, unless you count a fictional one they did with Rob Terry, but wait...
Out came OVW Board of Director member Ken Wayne, to a large pop, who ordered Josette Bynum and Chris Sharpe into the ring. Wayne said he was putting Chris Sharpe under executive review. Wayne ordered the entire OVW roster to come to ringside. Wayne said he couldn't do anything about the other title change, but he ordered the OVW TV title to be held up. Wayne first gave the title to Chris Sharpe to hold on to, and then changed his mind, which got a pop. Wayne said Josette Bynum has turned things into a "Nightmare", and said that next week a major decision would be announced here, and that he wants Danny Davis to be here as well.
A passable show this week, with a strong main event. Plenty of goofiness along the way though. I don't think the stuff of BOD "meetings" going on during a show is ever believable, and I didn't believe it here, which brings the whole thing down for me. I think there's a chance that Ken Wayne could actually turn on Danny Davis, but I don't have a strong vibe either way on that, just certain things Wayne says makes me wonder, though he is all babyface right now. The show did end on a good cliffhanger for next week, plus the Paredyse and Brandon Espinosa "ceremony"...Send any feedback to
