SEAN PIERSON VS. JAKE HECHT, WELTERWEIGHTS

First round: Ref is Chris Adams.  Hopefully he’s going to ref the Buddy Roberts match later in the show.  Pierson on top in side control.  Now he’s going for a guillotine standing.  Hecht with a high slam takedown and is on top.  Hecht pounding him with body shots.  Pierson bleeding from elbows.  Pierson got another takedown but Hecht back up.  Knee by Hecht.  Body kick by Hecht. Another high kick by Hecht.  Pierson landed a few punches.  Close round to Pierson 10-9.

Second round: Hecht with a high kick.  Pierson landing better standing early in the round. Traded knees and then Pierson landed a few punches.  Hecht shot but Pierson defended it well. Now they are in a clinch.  Pierson with a few body shots and Hecht with an elbow.  Left by Pierson.  Knee by Pierson.  Hecht landed another high kick. Pierson with a left and moved into another clinch. Hecht landed a left but Pierson with a right.  Close round again to Pierson so up 20-18.

Third round: Hecht with a takedown.  Ref Chris Adams ordered a standup.  Hecht moved in for another takedown and Pierson again defending.  Hecht gave up on it but landed an uppercut.  Pierson landed some punches while Hecht missed a high kick.  Body kick by Hecht.  Hecht moved in.  Not a lot happened and a very close round.  Could go either way but maybe Hecht, so 29-28 for Pierson, but this could go either way.

Scores: All three judges have it 29-28 Pierson.

BERNARDO MAGALHAES VS. HENRY MARTINEZ, LIGHTWEIGHTS

Tony Leder taking over for the second Facebook fight.

First Round: Bell malfunction to start the fight... Martinez stuffs a take down. Bernardo lands a decent leg kick. Good strikes landed by both up against the fence. Martinez using his right jab to find range. Push kick lands slightly by Magalhaes. Magalhaes fails a take down but pulls guard and goes straight for a leg lock. Martinez escapes back to his feet. 1 min left Magalhaes gets another take down stuffed. Fight ends with both still on their feet. Neither landed anything significant though Martinez landed more strikes on the feet

Round Two: Magalhaes maybe having a little trouble fighting a lefty in Martinez, though he is starting to land a right hand. Magalhaes lands another right as Martinez paws is lead right. Martinez fairly inactive aside from a few lunging and failing combos. Magalhaes gets a lazy take down stuffed. Very uneventful round from both men, Magalhaes might have scored a round there.

Martinez's corner telling him he is dominating…

Round Three: Let's see if they can get me to sleep. Magalhaes attempts a flying knee, and really is coming out a bit more aggressive so far. Martinez is staying pretty passive. Both guys must think they are winning as there is no urgency from either guy. Magalhaes almost scores a double leg with about 1:30 left. And then attempts a single with about 30 seconds left. Another pretty uneventful round. I could see all three rounds going either way in a judges mind… I would lean toward Magalhaes winning the last two rounds based solely on aggression.

30-27 29-28 and 29-28 For Martinez. So I was wrong...

CAIO MAGALHAES VS. BUDDY ROBERTS, MIDDLEWEIGHTS

First round: Troy Waugh referee.  Roberts stunned Magalhaes with a big right hand.  Roberts followed with a knee that missed.  Roberts landed another right.  Magalhaes moved in for a Takedown but Roberts defended.  Magalhaes had Roberts up off the ground but still couldn’t get him down.  Magalhaes did get the takedown but Roberts right up.  Magalhaes lifted him up, got a trip but in mid air Roberts got his back but gave it up to move it back standing.  Low kick by Magalhaes.  Roberts went for a front kick but missed.  Roberts moved in with a punch.  Roberts with a right and a kick to the high part of the body.  Magalhaes landed a right late.  Last 30
seconds were good, not much till then.  Close to Roberts 10-9.

Second round: Magalhaes corner told him he lost the round close and to take him down.  Magalhaes is looking for a takedown.  He spent a long time unsuccessfully working for a takedown.  He got Magalhaes off his feet twice but still couldn’t get him down.  Spin kick by Magalhaes.  Roberts landed a hard right.  Now a low kick by Roberts.  Not much here but Roberts moving in and landing punches and kicks.  Roberts again so he’s up 20-18.

Third round: Magalhaes threw some low kicks.  Roberts landed a left to the nose.  Magalhaes landed a body kick.  Magalhaes moving forward while Roberts just keeps backing up.  Roberts moved forward with a left.  Magahlaes ducked for an attempted takedown and finally got it.  Roberts got back up pretty quickly.  Magahlaes took him down a seond time.  Nice uppercut by Roberts.  Another overhand right a left kick to the face by Roberts.  Roberts with a left and right.   Roberts tried a flying knee.  Closer round but I’d go with Roberts and a 30-27 score.

Scores: 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28 for Roberts

TIM MEANS VS. JUSTIN SALAS, LIGHTWEIGHTS

First round: Left by Means and a left and right hurt Salas.   Means landing punch after punch and knocked him down with a right.  Three hard knees to the chin.  Salas tried a takedown and landed a knee.  Means landing more punches and his shots are all landing solid.  Salas bleeding from the nose.  Salas shot in, Means sprawled and landed several punches while Salas was down and ref Chris Adams stopped it.  1:06

JARED PAPAZIAN VS. DUSTIN PAGUE, BANTAMWEIGHTS

First round: Papazian makes Rampage Jackson faces, Tito Ortiz mannerisms and has his hair like Dan Hardy.  Papazian landing a lot of punches from a lock up until Pague took him down with a foot trip into a mount.  Elbow by Pague.  Another elbow by Pague.  Now Pague has the figure four body scissors.  Papazian is trapped.  Pague got the choke and it’s over.

MATT GRICE VS. LEONARD GARCIA, FEATHERWEIGHTS

First round: Grice took him down.  He moved him near the cage.  Grice started to land punches from the top.  Grice moved to side control.  Grice went for a North-South choke but didn’t have it.  Garcia escaped.  Grice landing punches and elbows.  He’s throwing hard elbows.  Garcia working for an armbar but Grice out.  Grice landing nasty elbows to the head.  Garcia’s lucky he’s not cut.  10-9 for Grice.

Second round: Grice landed a high kick as Garcia moved away from a takedown attempt.  Garcia threw a punch and Grice ducked and took Garcia down.  Grice continued to land from the top. Grice continues to land while ref Troy Waugh warend him about keeping busy.  He’s landing solid shots from guard.  Crowd booing because Garcia can’t do a thing and they expect crazy brawls from Garcia.  Grice is landing solid shots.  More elbows and punches from the top.  Grice with more elbows.  Really should be a 10-8 round for Grice.

Third round: Front kick by Grice.  Body kick by Grice.  Grice went for a takedeown and landed shots.  Garcia moved in and Grice took him down again.  Grice landing hard shots from the top.   Garcia up but threw a push kick and Grice took him down again and controlled him on the ground.  Grice’s round 10-9.  I’ve got 30-26, judges will probably have 30-27.  There is no possible way a judge could give Garcia a round here.  Totally dominant performance by Grice.

All three judges have it 30-27 for Grice.

Grice thought he broke his left foot.

SETH BACZYNSKI VS. LANCE BENOIST, WELTERWEIGHTS

First round: Body kick by Benoist.  Benoist got the takedown.  Benoist landed a knee when Baczynski’s knee was down, which is illegal.  Baczynski compaliend.  I don’t think the ref would have called it if Baczynski didn’t complain.  Benoist with a kick to the body.  Baczynski landed a punch and Benoist stumbled.  Benoist’s left eye bleeding.  Benoist in a koala poisition.  Now back down.  Benoist with a spin kick and a front kick.  Baczynski took him down, Benoist with an up kick.  Baczynski with a few shots late.  Baczynski 10-9

Second round: Baczynski shot in and Benoist landed a knee when Baczynski was downed.  Even with the second illegal knee, no penalty point called.  Benoist got the takedown.  Up kick by Baczynski.  Baczynski back up with, threw a knee and now on top.  Baczynski landed shots at the end of the round.  Baczynski 10-9 again.

Third round: Baczynski got a Thai plumb and threw some knees.  Benoist got a takedown but Baczynski reversed, went for a guillotine and Benoist took him down a second time and is on top.  Benoist bleeding badly.  Blood all over Baczynski’s chest.  Baczynski back up.  Baczysnki working for a takedown and gave it up.  Baczynski grabbed a guillotine, Benoist out and on top.  Ref Chris Adams ordere a standup with 1:00 left.  Kick but Baczynski moved in.  Benoist tried to throw him but Baczynski threw him down and worked on him at the end of the round.  Benoist’s round, so 29-28 Baczynski.

Scores 30-27 Benoist, 29-28 Baczynski and 29-28 Baczynski

MIKE PIERCE VS. CARLOS EDUARDO ROCHA, WELTERWEIGHTS

Second round: Pierce moved in and Rocha trying a standing guillotine but didn’t have it.  Pierce grinding him against the fence.  Pierce got the takedown.  Rocha went for a leg and Pierce stood up.  Pierce dropped a punch.  Pierce landed a left to the head and another hard left to the body.  Pierce being very careful on top.  Pierce with body shots.  Rocha getting no offense going. Elbows by Pierce.  Rocha up.  Rocha tried a hiptoss but couldn’t get it.  Another round for Pierce so he’s up 20-18.  Boring round and crowd is booing a lot

Third round: Back in a clinch.  Pierce landed a punch moving in.  Rocha needs a finish here and Pierce just shutting him down pinning him against the fence.  Crowd booing a lot.  Ref separated them.  Pierce with a single leg takedown.  Pierce being very careful on top.  Pierce punching the left thigh while the crowd booed.  Pierce now getting punches in.  Pierce landed to the head and body.  Pierce landing punches to the body ,now elbows to the head.  Pierce landing good punches in the final seconds.  Pierce’s round, has to be 30-27.  No other score possible.

Scores:  30-27 Rocha, 30-27 Pierce 30-27 Pierce.  The judge who scored for Rocha must have screwed up and thought Pierce was Rocha or it was transcribed wrong.  No other way.

EDDIE WINELAND VS. SCOTT JORGENSEN, BANTAMWEIGHTS

First round: Jorgensen moved in but couldn’t get the takedown.  A lot of movement but neither really landing. Now they traded.  Wineland’s shots are stronger.  Jorgensen landed a left and Wineland right back.  Good right by Jorgensen and Wineland again right back.  Wineland landed a right.  Wineland dropped him with a left.  Jorgensen went for the takedown but couldn’t get it. Wineland with a trip and took Jorgensen down.  Wineland punching the body.  Wineland landing a series of punches.  Wineland landing another combination.  He hurt Jorgensen again late in the round.  Wineland’s round 10-9

Wineland landing solidly.  Jorgensen back with punches, tried a takedown, got it but Wineland right back up.  Wineland landing solid punches.  Wineland landing rights.  Jorgensen hurt him with a right again.  This is the best Wineland has ever looked on the big stage.  Crowd really likes this fight as both are moving and landing.  Wineland dropped him with a right cross and the first punch on the ground put him out and it was stopped.  The cut on Wineland’s head was sick, like a dagger sliced him above the left eye.  Jorgensen had never been finished before that punch.  This so far is fight of the night.

JOSH NEER VS. MIKE PYLE, WELTERWEIGHTS

First round: Pyle got a takedown right away.  Pyle to side control.  Neer tried a heel hook from the bottom.  Neer tried a triangle but not close at all.  Pyle landing punches.  Neer up, tried a takedown.  Neer hurt Pyle with punches but Pyle landed a knee from the Thai clinch.  Neer with a punch, elbow and knee from short range.  Pyle with a body punch.  Neer landing a lot of punches, uppercut, and working the body.  Neer hurt Pyle and then suddenly Pyle knocked him out with a short right.  The last minute was really good, and the finish was almost a Scott Smith like coming back from the brink of defeat.  The knockout was at 4:56 of the round.

Pyle said he was never hurt, said he was stung late and said he was ready for another opponent.

ERICK SILVA VS. CHARLIE BRENNEMAN, WELTERWEIGHTS

because he beat a tough guy who came at him aggressively.  Good round.
