Feedback to today's UFC

Thumbs up! (For the main card at least...the rest was rubbish.)

Best Match:
EDDIE WINELAND VS. SCOTT JORGENSEN
Worst Match:
BERNARDO MAGALHAES VS. HENRY MARTINEZ

Well, the Facebook fights bored me, and I didn't even bother watching the Fuel fights. BUT the main card on FX was awesome. I was a big fan of the fights with finishes, and I thought the main event was really good. Also, in the main event, one of the judges scored it 30-27. Really?!? 30-27???

I gave the show a solid thumbs up. Not sure how ratings will be for a Friday night card with not a lot of star power and so many cards in June but it was another entertaining night of fights for free. I think casual fans watching would have liked the action and be swayed to watch again.

Best Fight: Johnson vs McCall but easily could have been Wineland vs Jorgensen
Worst Fight:Rocha vs Pierce
Best KO: Mike Pyle
Best Sub: Dustin Pague but will probably be given to Silva

Justin Salas vs. Tim Means - Means striking was devastating. The knees were great and everything he threw was accurate. Salas couldn't recover after being rocked for the first time. The size difference here was crazy, Means looked at least one weight class higher and then some.

Jared Papazian vs. Dustin Pague - this was a bit of an upset for me as I though Papazian was going to win hands down. Pague looked great in this R1 stoppage.

Matt Grice vs. Leonard Garcia - Not the type of fight that you want to see Garcia in. Styles make fights and we love to see the Bad Boy matched up with another striker. Grice's wrestling was very impressive and Garcia had no answer at all once he was on his back. Not sure why fans were booing other than they wanted to see the usual Garcia stand up war as Grice was busy the whole 3 rounds.

Lance Benoist vs. Seth Baczynski - Which judge scored that fight 30-27 for Benoist?! Thought this was a real good fight with two well matched opponents. A bit of a surprise that a point wasn't deducted in the 2nd round for the second kneeing of a downed opponent. I liked the two attempts for the flying head and arm chokes.

Carlos Eduardo Rocha vs. Mike Pierce - This was almost Grice vs Garcia 2.0 in a higher weight class. Rocha never got it going at all this fight and could do nothing at all off his back. Pierce's wrestling was too much. Nice explosion of strikes on the ground to solidify the decision. Who scored the fight 30-27 for Rocha?! Same judge as last fight.

Scott Jorgensen vs. Eddie Wineland - I loved this fight and always enjoy watching both of these guys fight. A great back and forth stand up battle that the fans wanted to see. Wineland's cut from the knee was nasty. A great KO to end this entertaining fight.

Josh Neer vs. Mike Pyle - Another great even fight and Pyle may have stolen the KO of the night with Neer doing his Flair faceplant imitation.Don't think either guy will be an impact at welterweight but will both be gatekeepers for the younger fighters to get solid wins over veteran opponents.

Charlie Brenneman vs. Erick Silva - Brenneman really impressed me in the loss here. Great tenacity in pressing the action and keeping Silva on the defensive. Silva stayed pretty composed and was able to scramble very well after the takedowns or stuffing them. Thought the ref separated them too quickly when Brenneman was going for a double leg and had him against the cage. Maybe listening to the crowd booing too much in all the fights when wrestlers were on the offensive. Nice submission to end it. Solid win for Silva.

Ian McCall vs. Demetrious Johnson - Not sure how Johnson in his preview clip says he beat him before and will beat him again when the fight was ruled a draw. Fans were solidly behind McCall with many Uncle Creepy chants. Great fast paced fight that I would have loved to see go 5 rounds. Johnson deserved the decision winning rounds 1 & 3 but I was cheering for McCall. Again in this fight, how could a judge score this 30-27 for Johnson?! McCall clearly won the 2nd round. If it is the same judge in all 3 questionably scored fights they should not be allowed to judge any further.

Thought UFC must be loving all the free publicity they get from Spike on MMA Uncensored since they have left the station. Wonder what Bjorn Rebney thinks of this. Bellator is minimally mentioned each week. They are even plugging them on TNA as Mike Tenay was plugging the upcoming BJ Penn vs Rory Macdonald fight and how to watch MMA Uncensored. Spike doesn't have much of a choice though as who will watch a 1/2 hour MMA talk show that features strictly Bellator.

Have a great weekend.

Thumbs up
Best fight Ian McCall vs Demetrious Johnson
Worst fight None(only saw FX card)
Best KO Mike Pyle
Best Sub Erick Silva

Fun if unimportant little card on FX tonight. The Flyweight fight was fast as hell, and even though he lost im much more interested in the next McCall fight than the title fight.  Silva answered a lot of questions tonight and is ready for a top guy.
