Olympics Spoiler: American wrestling has a good day

Jordan Burroughs captured a gold medal at 163 pounds in freestyle wrestling earlier today.

Burroughs, 24, a former NCAA champion and Danny Hodge Trophy winner from the University of Nebraska, defeated Sadegh Gourdazi of Iran in two straight periods in the final after beating two-time world champioin Denis Tsargush of Russia.  Tsargush had won the first round, meaning Burroughs had to win both rounds two and three.  He came back to capture a bronze medal.

Burroughs also defeated former NCAA champion Matt Gentry, who went to college in the U.S. but represented Canada in the Olympics.

Burroughs is expected to at some point go into MMA, but he's targeted his move into that sport for 2017, as he is looking to win a second gold medal.
