Hominick announces retirement

UFC featherweight fighter Mark Hominick, who started in the sport with Georges St-Pierre in the TKO promotion in Montreal and moved on to the WEC, announced his retirement tonight on UFC Tonight.

Hominick is best known for giving featherweight champion Jose Aldo Jr. his toughest fight in recent years, on the April 30, 2011, show at Rogers Centre in Toronto.

He cited his family, with a daughter on the way, that wouldn't allow him to devote the kind of time needed to train for this level of fighting as his reason for retiring.
