OVW TV report for tomorrow night's show

By Jimmie Daniel

Here is the report for Ohio Valley Wrestling TV Episode 705 to air in Louisville on 2/23. As always the show can also be seen at http://www.ovwrestling.com/tv/705. Our announcers tonight are "Anchorman" Gilbert Corsey and “Rocky Mountain Mouth" Michael Titus (who is again doubling as ring announcer but STILL can't get on the OVW roster page!!) as Dean "San Juan" Hill is out on assignment.
Last week saw the return of Michael Hayes, who was named OUR OVW Director of Operations! OUR OVW Champion "Sir" Doug Williams comes to the ring in less than a jovial mood, demanding that Hayes come to the ring. He calls Hayes a disgrace as five minutes after being named to the position, Hayes was already abusing his power by forcing Williams to wrestle Jamin Olivencia in the TV main event, which Williams lost. Williams claims he was not given time to prepare for or scout Olivencia, who Williams says is Hayes' best buddy! Hayes reminds Williams of two weeks ago when Williams channeled "Lord of the Flies" and decided that since he had the championship belt, he would be in charge! Hayes noted that Williams' putting himself in a match with referee Chris Sharpe was discussed with the Board of Directors. Hayes was given discretion to penalize Williams but not strip him of the title, so Hayes fines him $5000! Hayes also says he can't think of a better way to prepare for an opponent than to wrestle him, so he makes a rematch for tonight's TV main event. The stipulation gets added that if Olivencia wins again, he will get a title shot at March 2nd's Saturday Night Special.
Match #1: Mascara Mafia (Paredyse & Brandon "Espy" Espinosa w/Just Chris) vs Mobile Homers ("Man-Beast" Ted McNaler & Adam Revolver w/Brittany Devore)
Mafia brings out Brittany's boots that they made off with last week and their facial expressions suggest that the boots do not have Odor-Eaters in them. Brittany comes out drinking some "rocket fuel" and goes after Chris, even grabbing a chair before being restrained by the Homers. Revolver tries to haul Brittany to the back but she slips away and climbs on the apron only to be knocked off by Paredyse. The four wrestlers go at it briefly before Chris grabs McNaler's leg. Brittany chases Chris into the ring and the four wrestlers pull them apart. The Homers get Brittany to the apron but Espy lowblows Revolver and rolls him up using Feet On The Ropes for the pin.
In the back, "Smooth" Johnny Spade is working out with some resistance bands when James "Moose" Thomas comes up. Moose cracks on Spade for using these but Spade fires back with suggesting Moose use a cardio machine. Spade challenges Moose for next week!
Match #2: "Marksman" Nick Dumeyer vs OUR OVW Multimedia TV Champion "The Captain of the Ship" Cliff Compton
Compton is wearing a captain's hat but no sign of Toni Tennille:( Compton shows off some tumbling skills (ala Matt Dillenger) and appears to be supremely confident tonight as he works over Dumeyer. Randy Royal again comes out through the curtain to watch as Compton runs into a Dumeyer elbow. Compton shakes it off then catches Dumeyer and spikes him into the mat for the pin.
Royal is shown coming into the back where his trainer Tony Gunn is waiting. Royal figures if he could win the TV title and keep it for a year, he could earn $52,000 and pay off his hospital bills! Gunn questions whether Royal is ready to go back to action full-time yet. Royal says he's got to do what he's got to do!
Ms. Josette Bynum in a tight coral dress hurries by to a meeting with Williams and the Coalition Forces (OUR OVW Tag Team Champions "The Washington Generals" Crimson & Jason Wayne, Jack Black, Joe Coleman, Shiloh Jonze, Raul Lamotta, and the Spanish Moss Guy). Williams suggests that the group take a fresh approach this week since last week's approach didn't quite work out as planned. Crimson butts in and says that Williams' plan was FUBAR then leads the Coalition away in a huff, saying that they are sound strategists! Josette starts the leave as well but Williams grabs her by the arm and notes that she still covets "the GM job" and will do anything to get it. Josette decides to hear him out and they leave together.
Timmy "Rampage" Danger and Eddie "White Kryptonite" Diamond come out to the ring. Danger says Diamond has had some hard times and been down in the dumps due to his rejection by Epiphany. Diamond is still love struck and begs her for one more chance as he reaches out his hand. Epiphany comes through the curtain and is not impressed with this display. Diamond says Epiphany is the only girl he's ever felt this way about, saying he has a mink coat on layaway (might be Reggie B. Fine's for all we know), and still wants a romantic evening of dinner at the Sizzler and taking in a movie at the dollar theatre. Diamond says he's dated big girls like her before, which makes Epiphany disgusted and she stomps off to the back. Announcers lament that Diamond just about had the deal closed but put his foot in his mouth! Jesse Godderz comes out to the ring, looks like we have a match.
Match #3: Eddie "White Kryptonite" Diamond (w/Timmy "Rampage" Danger) vs "Mr. Pec-tacular" Jesse Godderz
The broken-hearted Diamond puts up no resistance whatsoever as Godderz alternately beats on him and showboats. Gilbert says this is really sad to watch. Godderz climbs on the ropes and hollers out that Epiphany should be with him for further humiliation, but this fires Diamond up! Diamond hits a Thesz press and pounds on Godderz until he whiffs on a fistdrop. Godderz hits a Pec-tacular Press then slides out to grab a chair. Epiphany runs out to snatch the chair away. As the ref herds Epiphany away from the ring, "Best Rudy Ever" Rudy Switchblade runs out and slides the chair in to a puzzled Godderz. Diamond shoves Godderz and the chair into the corner, causing Godderz' head and the chair to collide and Diamond rolls him up for the pin!
"The Ken of OVW/The Justin Bieber of Professional Wrestling/The King of Pink" Dylan "Freakin'" Bostic and "The Quinn Fabray of OVW" Taeler Hendrix are sharing a tender moment in the back. Taeler thanks Bostic for the gifts that she has been getting the past few weeks but then questions him about how she could get a present from him last week if he wasn't here? "Diamond Steel" Ryan Howe walks by and Bostic, who is talking to her hand now, says maybe Howe gave her that present like he gave her those stupid guitar lessons a few months back. Taeler walks away in a huff.
Williams has ref Jordan Barker alone in a closet. Williams has some kind of shenanigans planned that he's trying to get Barker involved with. Williams sees the camera and closes the door.
Match #4: The Coalition's Delta Squad Bravo (Coleman & Black) vs The Gut Checkers (Sam Shaw & Alex Silva)
Gilbert is still upset over getting searched by the Coalition a couple of weeks ago. Last week Shaw & Silva defeated Delta Squad Alpha (Jonze & Lamotta) so apparently they have to go through the other Coalition members to get at the tag champs. Bravo attacks at the bell and the Checkers get worked over until they wrap Black's arms up around himself, taking him down. Gilbert is also disgusted at Crimson and Wayne dressing up as Washington and Lincoln last week, to which Titus says John Wilkes Booth would have never shot "Honest Wayne"! Bravo regroups and isolates Shaw for a little while until Shaw escapes and we get TAGS! Silva Surfer misses on Coleman but hits Black. Shaw goes up top for the Breaking Point but Crimson runs out to push him off for the DQ.
Silva & Shaw duck out of the ring but Alpha shows up and drag them back to the ring for some 6 on 2 beatings. Spanish Moss Guy brings a body bag to the ring and both Gut Checkers are zipped up in it. Gilbert rings the bell feverishly but Titus gets in the line of the year with: Ringing the bell isn't helping anybody except Anita Ward!! Coalition stands over the bodybag and salutes as "Taps" plays.
Back from break, Gilbert and Titus plug a 2/23 house show in Elizabethtown, KY that will feature Spade vs Moose!
Match #5: Jamin Olivencia vs OUR OVW Champion "Sir" Doug Williams
Jamin's music plays but he doesn't come out. Williams comes out and shakes hands with ref Barker followed by Jamin's music playing again. Jamin still doesn't come out! In the back we see Josette sitting against a closet door with Jamin banging on it wanting out. Hayes comes over and yanks Josette off the chair then tells Jamin to hurry up and get to the ring before Barker counts him out. Jamin hits the ring and it's on!!!
Jamin goes all high-octane on Williams, who bails out and attacks as Jamin follows him. Back in, Williams shakes off a Standing O but takes a neckbreaker as we go to break.
Back from break, Williams is softening up Jamin for an abdominal stretch but then just backbreakers him for 2. Williams then hooks Jamin in a Boston Crab but Jamin makes the ropes although Barker is hesitant to count, which makes Gilbert wonder what happened at the closed door meeting. Jamin hits a missile dropkick then they trade two counts. Williams sets Jamin up top and goes for a superplex but gets fought off.
Jamin misses on a second missile dropkick but manages to catch Williams with a roll up for the pin and a title shot at the 3/2 Saturday Night Special. Williams is angry as he sees Jamin in the ring holding up the belt as the show goes off.
THOUGHTS: Having watched Anita Ward on an "UnSung" episode about the disco era the previous evening made Titus' line more amusing for me. No Flash or no Trash this week but they found Josette something to do anyway. I'm going to guess that The Gut Checkers might have some backup at SNS? Where oh where is OUR OVW Women's Champion Jessie Belle (in relation to this program)? Does Bostic vs Howe kick up a notch because of Taeler? Will Gunn win the TV title and more importantly, be able to negotiate a settlement with the hospital if he can’t hold the TV title for a year? How about stips for Mascara Mafia vs Mobile Homers 6-person tag match: Homers win/Chris gets stripped to his/her undies, Mafia wins/they get the still? Anyway this was a nice fun little show with no real complaints, so I'll give it a solid thumbs up.

What was the best match of the weekend in G-1?
