Results from tonight's Bellator season finale from Atlantic City
RICK HAWN (14-2) VS. KARO PARISYAN (22-9), WELTERWEIGHTS
First round: Parisyan went down after a low blow, the knee actually looked legal in the replay. Parisyan camne back a few seconds later. Trading low kicks. Hawn threw a knee from the clinch. Parisyan is the one moving forward. Parisyan with a punch and a knee. Parisyan missed a spinning backfist. Parisyan kicked Hawn low. That one looked legit. Hawn landed a high kick late. Hawn 10-9, but Parisyan looked a lot better than I’ve seen him in a long time.
Second round: Hawn landed a few punches. Hard left by Hawn. Hawn landed left to the body. Hawn hurt him with a right , landed some uppercuts and the ref stopped it. Parisyan was really mad. Hard right a few uppercut sand he went down, Karo had grabbed he ankle when it was stopped. To me, when a guy is intelligent and able to move forward and grab a leg and hold on, it’s an early stoppage. 1:55
BRETT COOPER (19-7) VS. DOUG MARSHALL (17-6) IN THE MIDDLEWEIGHT TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
First round: Winner gets to be destroyed by Alexander Shlemenko. Marshall landing hard shots but Cooper back . Hard low kicks by Marshall. Cooper took him down. Marshall up and landing knees. Cooper took him down again. Marshall back up and pretty much knocked him out with a right. Marshall threw one more on the ground.
Marshall did his usual old school Memphis wrestling promo. He's one of the better talkers in MMA.
ANTON TALAMANTES (5-3) VS. LIAM MCGEARY (3-0), LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHTS
First round: Talamantes was a former Ohio State wrestler. Talamantes got the takedown right away. McGeary hurt him with an elbow from the bottom and landed a series of solid shots and finished when Talamantes went down, it was stopped.
FRODO KHASBULAEV (20-5) VS. MIKE RICHMAN (15-2) FOR THE FINALS OF THIS SEASON'S FEATHERWEIGHT TOURNAMENT
First round: Both landing hard. Nice spin kick to the body by Khasbualev. Left by Richman. Khasbulaev landing some body kicks. Trading punches with Khasbulaev landing better. Two hard right by Khasbulaev. Khasbulaev moving in and throwing. Richman landed a counter right. Hard right by Khasbulaev. Richamn with a body punch and has Khasbulaev back with a few punches. Another hard right by Khasbulaev. Another right by Khasbulaev. Khasbulaev with punches and body kicks. Front kick and low kick by Khasbualev. Khasbulaev with more body kicks. 10-9 Khasbulaev
Second round: Richman landed a straight right. Both landed hard shots. Khasbulaev throwing all out and may tire. Khasbulaev bleeding from the right eye. Both missing now. Khasbulaev missing punches. Richman missed a killer high kick. Takedown by Khasbulaev. Khasbulaev continues to swing but he’s mostly missing. More punches and body kicks by Khasbulaev. Richman with a right. A series of punches by Khasbulaev. Khasbulaev slipped down. Richman wouldn’t go to the ground with him. Richman took him down. Richman doing nothing from the top. Richman backed off and let him up. Richman just not aggressive enough. Khasbulaev’s round so up 20-18.
Third round: Khasbulaev driving for a takedown. He finally got him down. Khasbulaev landing punches to the face but Richman got back to his feet. Richman landed a few punchs. Richman now landing better. Khasbulaev landing and Richman back. This is a good fight. Both trading punches and body kicks by Khasbulaev. Takedown by Khasbualev and he’s punching him from the top. Richman back up. Both trading punches. Khasbuaev bleeding from the right eye. Khasbulaev landed an uppercut. Another right by Khasbulaev as time ran out. They shook hands when it was over. Very good fight. I’ve got 30-27 for Khasbulaev but rounds two and three were close. I could kind of see Richman for round two but round three would be tough. But nothing would shock me.
Scores: All three judges have it 30-27 for Khasbulaev.
PAT CURRAN (18-4) VS. SHAHBULAT SHAMHALAEV (12-1-1) FOR THE FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE
First round: Curran jumped in, got the takedown, got behind him and spun into a guillotine that choked Shamhalaev out. 2:38
