OVW TV report for tomorrow night
Friday, 19 April 2013 14:47
This is the recap for Ohio Valley Wrestling TV Episode 713 to air in Louisville on Saturday 4/20. As always the show can also be seen at http://www.ovwrestling.com/tv/713. OUR OVW Announce Team this week is Dean "San Juan" Hill" and "Anchorman" Gilbert Corsey and the returning “Rocky Mountain Mouth" Michael Titus. OUR OVW Ring Announcer is Terry Boddie.
Backstage, a camera peeks through a curtain to watch a secret meeting of The Coalition (OUR OVW Tag Team Champions "The Washington Generals" Crimson & Jason Wayne, "Squad Alpha" Jack Black & Joe Coleman, "Squad Bravo" Shiloh Jonze & Raul Lamotta, and the Spanish Moss Guy) complete with maps and camouflage. The Generals are making battle plans with Wayne adding that tonight is what they have trained for and they are going to have a lot of fun!
Gilbert says OUR OVW Champion Jamin Olivencia is in the building tonight as Titus predicts heavy repercussions.
Match #1: "Mr. Pec-tacular" Jesse Godderz vs Eddie Diamond (w/Timmy Danger & Bobbie Bardot)
Bardot appears to be wearing some sort of mechanical apparatus on her chest. Diamond gets in a crucifix on Godderz for 2 as Gilbert questions Godderz' focus in this match. Diamond starts a people's elbow but Godderz trips him up then pounds some forearms to the chest. The Washington Generals come out to observe the match as Godderz slams Diamond and stands on him for 2 while saying something to the Generals. Diamond fires up on Godderz, who rolls out, allowing the Generals and the rest of the Coalition to attack Diamond for the DQ. They kind of corner Godderz, who exits gracefully from the ringside area, then continue beating on Diamond and complete this mission with a top-rope powerbomb. Gilbert questions why they are targeting Diamond (well, Diamond did make fun of Crimson a while back!). OUR OVW Women’s Champion Epiphany runs out to join Danger and ref Josh Ashcraft in tending to Diamond.
Gilbert is searching for answers and asks "war analyst" Titus who is on the Coalition's hit list. Titus isn’t talking.
Match #2: "Diamond Steel" Ryan Howe vs Doug Williams
Howe plays his guitar behind his head for us. Williams comes out and demands Olivencia come to the ring now! Williams tells Olivencia that he has invoked the rematch clause, calling him a thief, and accusing Olivencia of getting his buddy OUR OVW Director of Operations Michael (not PS) Hayes to help him out, not to mention taking advantage of an "injured" Williams. Williams states that he will now give a demonstration and hits Howe right between the eyes with the microphone. Williams doesn't give Howe a chance to get back to his feet as Williams hammers away and throws a few suplexes. Olivencia climbs up on the apron which draws the ref over, allowing Williams to kick Howe in the groinular region. Ref calls for the bell as Olivencia chases Williams away.
In the back, Tony Gunn and "Triple R Superstar" Randy Royal are meeting. Royal says he has bill collectors breathing down his neck and is tired of of OVW playing their games with the TV title. Royal then tells Gunn he is with Royal or against him!
Camera pans over to Hayes separating James "Moose" Thomas and "Smooth" Johnny Spade, who are again arguing like an old married couple. Hayes makes tonight's main event with these two and warns them not to touch each other. A crash is heard and the camera pans around to see the Generals standing over Sam Shaw, who is unconscious on the floor.
Match #3: Randy Royal (w/Tony Gunn) vs OUR OVW TV Champion Rockstar Spud
Coalition Squad Alpha (Coleman & Black) attack Spud outside the ring and leave him lying, so the match is not going to happen. Royal takes the mic and is not pleased with this turn of events, so he calls out the Coalition! Gunn tries to clam Royal down, but Royal goes after Coleman and Black as we go to break.
Match #3A: Randy Royal & Tony Gunn vs Joe Coleman & Jack Black
As we return, the bell rings as Coleman attacks Royal as he and Black are able to keep Royal isolated for several minutes. Royal tries to escape but Coleman & Black are able to cut off any offense that Royal can muster. Meanwhile, Gilbert is convinced Titus knows the Coalition's plans and demands information but Titus remains tight-lipped. Royal leg sweeps Coleman as the ref shoos Black away and for the first time in the match we get TAGS! Gunn suplexes Coleman onto Black for 2 as all 4 are in the ring. Coalition Squad Bravo (Lamotta & Jonze) run out to assist Squad Alpha as Jones yanks Royal out of the ring while Lamotta distracts the ref. Jones throws his bullet vest to Coleman, who wraps it around his fist and hits Gunn with it for the pin. The two squads team up for a celebratory beat down as Gunn is held on the mat while Black backsplashes him.
Spade and Jay Bradley are chatting in the back. Bradley knows Spade's recent past with partners turning their back on him. Bradley suggests that Spade should take a shot at Moose tonight if it's there and make it count.
Meanwhile Taeler Hendrix is nursing Ryan Howe's wounds. Taeler asks Howe why he played that song he played for her last week. Howe says he only did it to mess with Dylan Bostic! Speaking of Bostic, he runs into the picture to attack Howe then grabs Taeler by the hand and drags her away
They replay the end of last week's title match, where Williams initiates a "sore loser attack" after losing the title to Olivencia. It is announced that the rematch for the title will be at the next Saturday Night Special on 5/11.
Match #4: Trina vs OUR OVW Women’s Champion Epiphany
Gilbert notes Trina is a former Miss Kentucky and a fitness trainer. She has been around OVW off and on for the past ten years. (This is also the same Trina that made several appearances at Nashville's Stadium Inn for USWO/PGWA around 2006, most notably having some matches with Serena Deeb) It also wasn't mentioned that Trina had won a women’s battle royal at the last Saturday Night Special to get this title shot. The two do some wrestling and posing to start (also includes Trina fixing her top a few times), then after Epiphany suplexes and butterflies Trina's arms she spots Diamond wandering out to ringside. Diamond is bandaged up and seems to be disoriented as Epiphany seems concerned. Trina gets a quick schoolgirl for 2 but gets slammed as Epiphany screams at Diamond to get to the back. Trina sneaks in a DDT for the pin and the title.
Diamond collapses at ringside and Epiphany scoops him up and carries him to the back.
Match #5: James "Moose" Thomas vs "Smooth" Johnny Spade
Gilbert and Dean note that Bradley is planting seeds in Spade's head. Spade opens up with some rope-a-doping and peppers Moose with kicks. Moose shoves Spade down and chops on him. The two go at it as Gilbert still tries to get information out of Titus to no avail. Spade goes for a running kneelift on Moose, who sidesteps Spade but crashes into ref Chris Sharpe. Bradley runs out with a chair and tosses it to Spade, telling him to hit Moose with it. Spade pitches back to Bradley and superkicks him and the chair. The entire Coalition runs out and attacks both Moose and Spade! They handcuff Spade and hit him in the leg with a chair. The Generals give Moose a spike piledriver! The seven Coalition members stand at attention in the ring as Wayne leads their version of the pledge as the show goes off.
THOUGHTS: I guess the Davis Arena doesn't have any rafters for Sting to drop from. Other than the women's title change (and once again OVW gives us the "someone walks in on TV and wins a title on the first try" deal) really nothing much other than the Coalition coming out and beating people up and nobody runs out to help. I'm going to give this a thumbs down and maybe next week will be better.
