Next UFC main event falls apart (updated)

The Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard main event scheduled for 5/28 in Las Vegas is out.

Edgar suffered broken ribs while Maynard is out with a knee sprain.

Dana White said the injuries were not serious and he was hopeful the bout would take place as scheduled in August or September.

This puts on hold the entire lightweight division, and moves back the time line for potential contenders Anthony Pettis and Jim Miller, as well as possible challenges of Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez and Clay Guida.

No new fight will be added to the show.  Rampage Jackson vs. Matt Hamill has been moved to the main event position with Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson as the semifinal.

Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story, the main fight on the live Spike special, has been moved to the PPV card.  Kendall Grove vs. Tim Boestch, a prelim fight likely on facebook, will now air on Spike along with Miguel Torres vs. Demetrious Johnson.
