Update on UFC 133 main event
Wednesday, 13 July 2011 11:46
With the knee injury to Phil Davis that took him out of the main event of UFC 133 on 8/6 in Philadelphia, UFC has been scrambling for a replacement to face Rashad Evans in the main event.
As of right now, both Tito Ortiz and Lyoto Machida turned down the fight because they would not have time to fully prepare. UFC may still be able to convince one or the other by upping the money so nothing is dead. The other options would be Rich Franklin and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, who are in the No. 2 fight on that show at 205 pounds, and making Alexander Gustafsson, a young, promising fighter, who is on the undercard, into a highlight position.
But despite stories all night about it being Machida, as of last word there is no replacement.
