Fox/DirecTV make deal on deadline
Monday, 31 October 2011 22:51
Hours before the deadline of 11/1, Fox and DirecTV reached a financial agreement to continue carrying all the Fox Channels. Financial terms were not listed. DirecTV had claimed Fox wanted a 40% increase in fees to carry the stations while Fox denied that to be the case.
It was virtually impossible this deal wouldn't be finalized because not only were popular channels like FX and Fox Sports Net (which carry a number of local NBA franchises) involved, but in several major markets, including Los Angeles, the FOX affiliate would have been pulled, and it wouldn't take long for DirecTV subscribers in that region to be furious over that, and consider switching to local cable or Dish Network.
