K.J. NOONS VS. BILLY EVANGELISTA

First round: Noons said that if he can’t beat Evangelista, he doesn’t think he should be fighting. Noons took him right down but Evangelista right back up. Now Evangelista has him against the fence. High takedown by Evangelista. Noons right back up. In a clinch and both working the body. Evangelista with good knee to the head. Evangelista landed a left hook. Both working the body again. Noons landed a good right late. Evangelista going for a takedown. Evangelista with knees and an elbow. Very close round which could go ether way. 10-9 Evangelisa.

Second round: Trading punches. Noons landed a spinning backfist and an uppercut. Noons bleeding from the nose. Evangelista landed a right. Noons with a kick to the body. Both missed with punches. Evagelista mocking him and Noons is landing. Noons went for a takedown but it was blocked. Evanglista landed a right. Noons landed an uppercut. Noons went for takedown but it was blocked . Evanglista landed two knees from a front headlock position. Evangelista landing low kicks. Evangelista missing punches as Noons had good head movement. Evangelista tried a takedown but Noons blocked it. Noons landed a jab. Evangelista landed a knee and some punches from the clinch. Noons again going for a takedown and not getting it. Another close round. I think close again but Noons so 19-19 even.

Third round: Both trading punches. Great right head kick by Noons to the jaw. Evangelista moving in and tried a takedown. Good uppercut by Noons. Noons landing lefts. Evanglista grabbed a D’Arce choke but Noons escaped. Both tired now. Noons played to the crowd with 1:00 left. His arms are exhausted though. Good left by Noons. Right by Noons. Evangelita landed an elbow. Time ran out. Good fight and all three rounds are close. I’d go slightly to Noons here so 29-28 but you can justify almost any score.

OVINCE ST. PREUX VS. GEGARD MOUSASI

First round: Body kick by St. Preux. Mousasi with a low kick. Another low kick. More low kicks. St. Preux with a body kick. Body kick and punch by Mousasi. Body kick by St. Preux. Mousasi landed a flurry. Mousasi moved in and landed a few punches. St. Preux threw a kick and Mousasi used it to take St. Preux down. He’s on top with 2:44 left. Mousasi landing shots on the ground. Elbows by Mousasi. St. Preux almost got up but Mouasi took him back down and throwing punches. Mousasi landing elbows from the top. Mousasi went for a Kimura but St. Preux escaped and reversed and got on top with 47 seconds left. Mousasi actually used a sunset flip to get back on top. Mousasi landing punches and elbows from side control. Mousasi had St. Preux in bad shape, a crucifix and throwing punches as time ran out. Mousasi 10-9 easy, would be 10-8.5 in halves.

Second round: St. Preux shot for a takedown but Mousasi blocked and ended up taking St.Preux down. Mousasi landing some lefts. Now elbows by Mousasi and more punches. Why are they ordering a stand-up as Mousasi was punching away. That was insane. Body kick by St. Preux. Mousasi trying a takedown but this time St. Preux got a switch and has Mousasi down with 1:25left. St. Preux now has side control and throwing elbows. The guy is in side control and the ref is telling him to improve his position. Mousasi got up with 32 seconds left. St. Preux tried a takedown late but Mousasi sprawled. Mousasi’s round so he’s up 20-18.

Third round: Mousasi clinched him and took him down. Mousasi now has his back but St. Preux back up. St. Preux now shooting for a single leg. He got Mousasi down into side control. Crowd is booing as St. Preux is doing no damage on top. Nice ground work by St. Preux and throwing punches from the mount. Now Mousasi escaped and he took St. Preux down with a tackle and has his back agian. Mousasi trying for a choke. Mousasi tried to put St. Preux down but St. Preux reversed to get to the top but then Mousasi reversed. The ref immediately threatened to stand them up. Crowd is booing but they’re working on the ground. Mousasi has St. Preux down. Crowd booing. St. Preux escaped and he’s on top dropping a punch. Round was closer, close either way, very close to St. Preux so 29-28 but could go either way.

Scores: All three have it 29-28 for Mousasi.

They were pushing that Mousasi would face the King Mo vs. Lorenz Larkin fight on 1/7 to fill the vacant light heavyweight title.

CRIS CYBORG VS. HIROKO YAMANAKA FOR WOMEN'S FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE

First round: Yamanaka is a dominatrix in her native Kisarazu, Japan. Cyborg knocked her down in seconds with a right. Cyborg dropped her a second time. This wasn’t even a contest.  :16

GILBERT MELENDEZ VS. JORGE MASVIDAL FOR LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

First round: Melendez at this point isn’t looking at taking him down. Melendez landed a left/right combination. Big right by Melendez as Masvidal was clowning and then Melendez with a low kick. Masvidal is taunting him and then getting hit. Good left by Masidal but Melendez back. Both moving very fast. Melendez throwing a lot but missed. Low kick by Masvidal put Melendez down but he’s back up. Melendez moved in with a right . Melendez took him down with a kick and Melendez tried a guillotine. I don’t think he’s got him. Melendez with three knees. Melendez landed another right. Trading punches and Melendez landing more solid. Now both landing. Melendez 10-9.

Second round: Melendez landed to the body and head. Masvidal back with a left. Big right by Melendez as Masvidal threw a low kick. Melendez hurt him with a left. High kick by Masvidal blocked. Melendez landing several punches and taunting Melendez and he keeps getting hit anyway. Melendez keeps landing with punches and a body kick. Masvidal landed but Melendez back with hard punches. Good body shot by Masvidal. Masvidal landed a punch. Body kick by Melendez. Melendez landing. Melendez’s round again 20-18.

Third round: Melendez landed a few punches. Masvidal is really not doing much on offense. He’s mocking him but doing nothing on offense. Melendez tried a takedown an couldn’t get it. Both trading and Melendez landed several solid punches. Melendez keeps landing rights. Masvidal now with two jabs and flying knee. Masvidal knocked Melendez’s mouthpiece out. Masvidal landing a lot of jabs but it’s not stopping Melendez and now Melendez landing several hard rights, some blocked. Masvidal with a left to the body and right. Masvidal landing lefts and Melendez’s right eye is swelling. Masvidal landed a good jab. Masvidal with a kick to the body. Melendez landed solidly with a few punches and Masvidal back. Both throwing a lot of punches. Masvidal landed a kick. Melendez’s round so 30-27, but this was closer than the first two.

Fourth round: Melendez keeps throwing. Masvidal blocking most of the punches but Masvidal doing no offense to counter and Melendez is landing some of his punches. Left uppercut by Melendez. Right hook by Melendez. Melendez continuing to land. Masvidal isn’t gong to win the fight by not punching and blocking some punches and getting hit with others. Good right by Melendez. Masvidal landed a left. Now Melendez taunting him. Melendez landed an overhand right. Masvidal landed a right but Melendez back. Melendez throwing big punches but Masvidal blocking many of them. Knee by Masvidal. Melendez 40-36. Crowd booing. Not as exciting as most Melendez fights.

Fifth round: Melendez ducked for a takedown but then threw some punches. Masvidal starting to land jabs. Knee by Masvidal and Melendez throwing punches. Counter right by Melendez and Masvidal with a jab and low kick. Melendez landing several punches. Body kick and jab by Masvidal. Masvidal landed a strong left hook and jab. Another left by Masvidal. Melendez landed several punches and Masvidal taunting him. Melendez with an overhand right and a left. Melendez landing several punches. Good left by Melendez and a right. Melendez landed a big flurry. Both throwing. This is the best action of the fight in the last minute. Melendez landing a lot more. Masvidal went for a take down and got him down but Melendez right back up. Melendez’s round 50-45.

Scores: Cecil Peoples & Gene LeBell scored it 50-45 and John McCarthy has 49-46 for Melendez.

Melendez said Masvidal was a hard style match-up, said Masvidal’s not easy to take down, but he beat him at his own game. He said they need to bring some guys over from UFC and challenged the UFC champ to come out and fight.
