C.M. PUNK VS. CHRIS JERICHO VS. THE MIZ VS. R-TRUTH VS. KOFI KINGSTON VS. DOLPH ZIGGLER FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP
- Punk vs. Kingston open.
- Ziggler was the next person in.
- R-Truth next in, 3 faces and one heel, they shaved a minute off the second time period.
- Punk pinned R-Truth with the Randy Savage elbow
- Miz in
- Jericho in, shaved several minutes so far
- Jericho pinned Ziggler after the codebreaker
- Jericho used the Walls of Jericho on Kingston for the tap out
- They are doing a worked Jericho injury angle, that's why they cut time becuase the match stopped due to the fake injury angle for several minutes.
- Jericho never returned after the injury and selling.
- This left Punk vs. Miz. Punk kicked out of the Skull crushing finale and Punk got the pin with the GTS. This match lacked a lot when it comes to heat. A lot of the problem was that no matter how much Miz tried to act vicious and tough, the crowd never bought him as a threat to win. Wonder why? Good, not great.
They did a comedy spot with Marella eating raw eggs like the first Rocky movie and he threw up the Raw eggs.
Now we have a John Cena workout video. Showing his gym called Hard Knocks South, lets the developmental guys train at the gym and showed a lot of them treating him like a coach and mentor. Very good stuff.
BETH PHOENIX VS. TAMINA SNUKA FOR DIVAS TITLE
Phoenix got the pin with a Glam Slam shortly after kicking out of the Superfly splash. Crowd was totally dead but they did a good match. Snuka is green but she has tons of potential as a worker, maybe more than any of the women on the roster. Phoenix did a good job of carrying her here. Good for a Divas match but the crowd did them no favors.
More Marella Rocky comedy ttrying to punch a bag and pulled out the cobra on the makeshift punching bag.
They are teasing something with Jericho for later in the show.
John Laurinaitis and David Otunga out. What happened here was like a Raw opening of the show segment that felt way out of place on PPV. You had Alberto Del Rio, Mark Henry and Christian all comeout and endorse Laurinaitis to be permanent GM of Raw as well as replace Teddy Long on Smackdown. It probably was okay since Del Rio and Christian haven't been on TV for a while. Henry claimed that Long would physically bully him. People didn't even react to the comedy of that one. Christian blamed Long for his injuries and creating an unsafe working environment. It ended with a group photo.
Marella doing more Rocky comedy, this time running up some stairs and celebrating.
DANIEL BRYAN VS. GREAT KHALI VS. BIG SHOW VS. WADE BARRETT VS. CODY RHODES VS. SANTINO MARELLA FOR THE WORLD TITLE
- Show vs. Barrett are the first two in.
- Rhodes third guy in.
- Marella is the fourth guy in. They are actually going long in the periods.
- Khali is the next guy in.
- Show speared and pinned Khali in about 40 seconds so they got him out of there right away.
- Show broke into Bryan's pod by breaking the chains on the top. He got in and was pounding Show. They saved time to get the door open and after Bryan got in Show threw him through the glass.
- Big Show was pinned after 2 disaster kicks by Rhodes, a DDT by Rhodes and Barrett with an elbow off the top
- Marella with rolling reverse cradle on Rhodes
- So it's Barrett vs. Bryan vs. Marella. Crowd is into Marella with the Jeremy Lin stuff.
- Barrett missed an elbow off the top, Bryan did a diving head-butt and Marella pinjned Barrett so it's Bryan vs. Marella
- Bryan kicked out of the cobra and won with the LeBell lock. They teased Marella breaking the hold but he eventually tapped. Because of Marella, the crowd was really into the final. Good match, better than the Raw match. The last two minutes had great heat.
Sheamus came out and laid Bryan out with the Emerald Frosien, so they announced Bryan vs. Sheamus for WrestleMania.
They did a backstage angle that included Natalya farting, and then Jack Swagger was bullying Hornswoggle. Justin Gabriel stood up for Hornswoggle. Teddy Long made Swagger vs. Justin Gabriel for the title. Swagger said that Laurinaitis should be running both shows. Long said he should be running both shows, so I think they are going to do some sort of a match or decision where Lauriniatis and Long have guys where the winner is in charge of both shows.
JACK SWAGGER VS. JUSTIN GABRIEL FOR U.S. TITLE
A 3:00 match with Swagger retaining with an ankle lock. These two had no chance going out this late in the show. Unless this plays into something later involving Long's power, this made no sense to have at this point.
They announced Undertaker on Raw tomorrow.
We're running out of time for Jericho to do anything tonight.
JOHN CENA VS. KANE IN AN AMBULANCE MATCH
Cena won, as he should have. Good match. Kane choke slammed Cena on the Spanish announcers table, which collapsed. Kane then put him on a stretcher and put him in the ambulance. But before he could shut the door, Cena kicked the door open. Cena came back and slammed the door on Kane's shoulder and climbed to the roof of the ambulance and challenged Kane to come up with him. They brawled on the top and Kane teased a choke slam off the ambulance but Cena blocked it and gave him an Attitude Adjustment off the roof, likely into a crash pad that was at least well hidden. Cena then picked Kane up and put him in the back of the ambulance and closed the door. No Zack Ryder or Eve Torres involvement here.
