WWE NXT TV Report: Woods, Parker, Graves & Neville vs Breeze, Kruger & Ascension
Don't check the calendar....you are not imagining things! I am doing this in the middle of the week as opposed to waiting until Sunday! I remember the good old days of reviewing this show on Tuesday nights at 10:00 pm EST.Sami Zayn pinned Curt Hawkins
We start the show with some in-ring action, as the man on a losing streak battles Curt Hawkins, who hasn't won a match in a year and a half. Zayn made his NXT debut back in May, defeating this very same Curt Hawkins. He then beat Antonio Cesaro in an impromptu challenge, which may have been the last time he actually won a match.
Alex Riley: “Sami Zayn is becoming Sami Zayn.”
Hawkins must be trying to contact his old tag team partner, Tyler Reks. He hasn't been the same since Reks quit the company. This was the basic NXT opener with both men doing a few moves, a few holds. Nothing complicated. Curt got the heat when Zayn was on the apron and Curt ran him down the apron and smacked Sami's head into the metal post. This match actually went through a commercial break, which, by the way, Hulu airs two minutes of commercials, which is so fun. Zayn made his comeback, missed the Yakuza Kick and got a near fall off a springboard cross body, Hawkins got a 2 count off a move that combined AJ Styles' Pele and Kofi Johnson's Trouble In Paradise. The finish saw Hawkins get frustrated after hitting big move after big move, so Sami hit his Tornado DDT and pick up the win.
Tom Phillips wondered if this win was enough to get an NXT Title shot. He has won like three matches so far.
Back from commercial and Aiden English has a new gimmick where he demands a spotlight and sings his promo on the way to the ring. He said he is here to put the E back in WWE. Remember when Antonio Cesaro was going to put the W back in WWE? Didn't work out so well for him, did it?
Aiden English pinned Michael Q. Laurie
After losing every week for a year, Aiden finally learned how to wrestle and won a quickie with a bowing leg drop and the Side Effect. After the match, Aiden sang his closing promo.
Backstage, Bo Dallas said he was leaving a message for his Bo-lievers on the Bo Dallas Hotline, which is currently testing in Bo-livia. I love this dork. Bo asked a very good question, when was the last time Curt Hawkins won a match? And how does that mean Sami gets a title shot. Bo said he had a great idea to determine the next #1 Contender, but he didn't have time to tell us now because he had to go to a ribbon cutting. He did promise to tell us next week. I would so call that hotline.
Next week, there will be a Triple H announcement...plus a Tag Team Turmoil #1 Contender's Match. But, more importantly, we will find out what Bo Dallas' idea is!CJ Parker, Xavier Woods and NXT Tag Team Champions Adrian Neville & Corey Graves defeated Tyler Breeze, Leo Kruger & The Ascension.
The entrances for our main event start with more than half of the show to go, but by the time everyone got their own entrance and we got a P. Diddy anti-bullying video, we were down to only 15 minutes. I have decided to start bullying P. Diddy.
The baby faces took turns beating on Leo Kruger while Alex Riley that this reminded him of when he would be in school. He would get three guys, someone else would get three guys and they would settle things. I wonder if they built a ring in the backyard, hired a younger brother to be a referee because the brother wouldn't stop whining about wanting to play too and then spent all afternoon mimicking the moves they saw on TV. The heels cut off Graves momentarily. The fans chanted for Tyler Breeze, who was somehow standing on the apron and hiding at the same time. We break down into the big dive spot...but CJ Parker managed to not only not do anything, but no one noticed that he just slid out of the ring while everyone else was selling and celebrating.
We go to and from commercial break and when we come back the heels are getting the heat on Xavier Woods because his partners were dumb enough to leave him on the floor and return to their corner, leaving him to a 3-on-1 beating. Tyler Breeze is avoiding in-ring action like he was allergic to wrestling.
The biggest pop of the match was Breeze tagging in, who got hit in the stomach and immediately tagged out, which led the fans to chant “That was awesome!” Breeze tagged in a second time, got a little offense, got hit in the stomach a second time and immediately tagged out a second time, which led the fans to chant “This is awesome!” again. Breeze tagged in a third time and you'll never guess what happened...well he got hit with a suplex before tagging out, but that was enough for Woods to make the Luke Walton Luke Warm tag to Parker.
A pier-6 brawl broke out. Do you think there is extra security in pier 6? There damn sure should be. Conor laid out Parker and Tyler tagged himself in for the victory. Parker tagged out at 2, so Breeze's teammates grew tired of him and walked away. The baby faces each gave Breeze their finisher and Neville picked up the win with The Red Arrow. Remember when Neville was the hot, young, high flying baby face on his way to the main roster?
That is it for this week. Until next week when we find out Bo Dallas' awesome idea to determine the next #1 contender to his title, say your vitamins and take your prayers!
