Before the show, the Bella Twins did not tell me to get ready for the live second screen experience starting now. I know it sounds weird but they have been at the beginning of every “live” show on the Network for six months, so it is odd to not see them.
In a First Round Match in the #1 Contenders Tournament, Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy defeated Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger
The winners of this tournament will face The Ascension in the future for the tag belts. Enzo has more charisma than everyone in the locker room combined.
Jordan and Dillinger got the heat on Colin when he was going for the SAWFT punches and Jordan distracted him, leading to being cut off. Enzo got the hot tag when Colin fought out of the NXT Chin Lock(TM) but Enzo literally ran into Tye's super kick, but he didn't even attempt a cover, which was a point hammered home in commentary.
The finish saw Jordan pick Enzo up for the Snapshot, but Cassidy kicked Jordan's head off for the win. Meanwhile the referee was shoving Tye out of the ring.
They officially released the brackets:
Backstage, Sami Zayn was cutting a promo about not having a partner and waiting for one to be assigned to him. Tyson and Justin walked up and made fun of him for not having any friends, so Adam Rose walked up and named himself Sami's partner. The new alliance shared a lollipop.
CJ Parker pinned Xavier Woods
This match is literally 6 weeks in the making. CJ came out one week and told off Xavier for no reason other than Xavier was on the main roster, while CJ wasn't. Nothing was mentioned of Xavier's recent heel turn and CJ got the heat when Woods went for a shoulder into the corner, but instead went into the post.
This match was pretty dull and became the second match that the NXT fans had to entertain themselves by doing the wave. Parker got a near fall by rolling through a flying cross body and Xavier then got one with an STO. Xavier went to the top rope, so CJ rolled in the opposite direction....but Woods hit a big splash all the way across the ring. Somehow that was not the finish. The finish was CJ hitting a Death Valley Driver for the win.
Tyler Breeze cut a promo on the titan tron, announcing it was time to challenge Neville for the title. We didn't get a date for the bout.
Bayley pinned Eva Marie (Thank God)
Last week we got Jo Jo and this week we get Eva Marie. Last night on Wrestling Outsiders Podcast my brother confessed to liking Eva Marie, so I blame him for this match. Bayley looked sad about having this match. Trust me, I was just as sad. The fans were so excited to see her they chanted “You can't wrestle.”, but did break out my favorite chant of “Bayley's gonna hug you!”
Eva slapped on the wacky arm stretch and Bayley literally had to move them half way around so they were facing the hard camera. Bayley eventually got out of it and hit the Belly to Bayley Suplex for the win. The fans literally chanted “Thank you Bayley”.
In a first round match of the #1 Contender's Tournament, Adam Rose and Sami Zayn defeated Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel
Main event time. The winners go on to face the winner of the Sin Cara/Kalisto vs Buddy Murphy/Wesley Blake match. When Adam Rose looked into the mirror on Raw last week did anyone else expect him to see Leo Kruger? Rich Brennan, Jason Albert and Alex Riley all danced before the match while Justin Gabriel watched the baby faces and was not impressed.
The fans chanted both “We want Nattie” and “Nattie's wife” at Tyson, which led to the heels having a conference at ringside. Rose ran by and slapped Gabriel's ass, so Gabriel promptly called Clarence Mason and filed a suit for sexual harassment. They had to drop the suit because Kidd promptly kicked Rose in the knee and Adam fell face-first on the apron. The heels agreed to drop the suit in return for Rose to drop the assault charges.
Albert asked if Ascension was really watching all the matches in this tournament. If I can watch all 100 matches and counting in the G-1 so far, then Konnor and Viktor can watch 7 matches spread out over a month.
Rose got his knees up when Gabriel went for a springboard elbow, so Zayn got the lukewarm tag. Zayn went bat shit crazy on both heels, including hitting his big ass dive over the top rope, but appeared to hurt his knee. Rose then did a flip dive over the top and almost missed both men. Zayn then pinned Gabriel, to my surprise with the Corner Kick.
That does it for this week. The show ends with the semi-finalists dancing while Albert and Riley argued over whether or not Albert should be dancing. Until next week, remember to say your vitamins and take your prayers!
