UFC On Versus 6: The Figure Four Online MMA Staff Picks

Curated by Josh NasonUFC On Versus 6

It's Saturday and that means the combat sports equivalent of college football is back on the air with UFC on Versus 6, the final live UFC event on the cable network.

The first UFC title fight on free TV in years, a must-win fight for two heavyweights and a rematch more than a year in the making are on Versus starting at 9 pm EST.

Fun trivia note: Mario and Fernando Yamasaki will referee on the card tonight, the first time in UFC history that's happened.

Some of the top MMA personalities on Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online submit their picks for all UFC and major Strikeforce events, putting their knowledge to the test.

Our X Factor-inspired panel through four events:

- Oliver Copp (11-9) and Mike Sawyer (12-8) of Tough Talk: Site

- Mike Sempervive (14-6): Wrestling Observer Live | Big Audio Nightmare

- Todd Martin (15-5): weekly FFD guest | WWE RAW recapper | LA Times | Sherdog

- Yours truly (15-5): frequent guest on FFD | FIGHT! Magazine | WGAM MMA Show

Grab your programs and your popcorn...here we go!

UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz vs. Demetrious Johnson

Cruz (18-1) looks to extend a nine-fight win streak and defend his title for a fourth time, while Johnson (9-1) rides a four-fight win streak into Saturday. Both men have been going deep into fights recently, so this could easily go the full 25 minutes.

Cruz: Nason, Sempervive, Copp, Martin, Sawyer

Clean sweep here for the champ.

Pat Barry vs. Stefan Struve

Barry (6-3) is known as a standout kickboxer but hasn't seen the success translate over into the UFC with a 3-3 Octagon mark. Eternal prospect Struve (21-5) has had success and colossal failures in the UFC. Both men are coming off being featured in ESPN highlight reels for being KO'd spectacularly.

Barry: Nason, Sawyer, Martin, Copp
Struve: Sempervive

Four of us will be watching this fight in "HD" while Semp will be viewing in StruveVision.

Anthony Johnson vs. Charlie Brenneman

With Johnson (9-3), fight day always comes down to how his body recovers from his massive weight cuts to 170 pounds. Brenneman (14-2) is well-known for stepping in for Nate Marquardt earlier this year and defeating Rick Story in front of his hometown crowd.

Johnson: Nason, Sempervive
Brenneman: Sawyer, Martin, Copp

The Spaniard has the affection of three of the five, while Semp and I really think Johnson's Warrior cameo will lead to something.

Matt Wiman vs. Mac Danzig II

This is a rematch from last June when Wiman "submitted" Danzig in ref Yves Lavigne's eyes even though the latter didn't tap and was conscious. Wiman (13-6) is coming off a debatable decision loss to Dennis Siver while Danzig has been off for a while after knocking out Joe Stevenson last December.

Wiman: Sempervive, Sawyer, Martin
Danzig: Nason, Copp

Another coin flip fight for the gang.

Yves Edwards vs. Rafaello Oliveira (Facebook bonus pick)

This is a battle of men in their second UFC stints. Edwards (40-17-1) is coming off a highlight-reel KO loss to Sam Stout at June's UFC 131 while Oliveira (14-4) returned to the Octagon after being cut in March 2010 and was promptly submitted by Gleison Tibau in May.

Edwards: Nason, Martin, Copp
Oliveira: Sempervive, Sawyer

After the panel picked identically the same at UFC 135, only the title fight has all of us on the same page.

Follow along with the play-by-play tonight on the site, watch the Facebook fights starting at 5:40 PM EST and the main show at 9 PM EST on Versus.
