UFC TUF Brazil Finale results: Fabio Maldonado vs. Stipe Miocic, TUF finals

Yes, more fun today.  It's like two-a-days in football today, except no throwing up, now heat stroke and five to six hour shows. 

MATT HOBAR VS. PEDRO MUNHOZ, BANTAMWEIGHTS

First round: Sao Paulo crowd wants Hobar to die.  One of the better nicknames around, Matt “The crowbar” Hobar.  Munhoz starting to land.  Body kick by Hobar. Munhoz with a body kick.  Great head kick by Munhoz and followed it up with a right and grabbed a guillotine.  Hobar out of trouble.  A knee by Munhoz and he’s landing more punches.  A right hurt Hobar, Munhoz took him down.  Munhoz with hard punches on the ground and ref Mario Yamasaki stopped it.

Munhoz noted he's lived in the U.S. for four years but he's from Brazil and he wants people to fight for education.

MARCOS ROGERIO DE LIMA VS. RICHARSON MOREIRA IN TUF BFRAZIL HEAVYWEIGHT THIRD PLACE MATCH

First round: Head kick by de Lima.  He followed with a hard right to the jaw and it’s over in about 20 seconds.  It was a straight right to the jaw and it was over.

WAGNER SILVA VS. RICARDO ABREU IN TUF BRAZIL MIDDLEWEIGHT THIRD PLACE MATCH

First round: Abreu landed a hard right. Both trading.  Abreu dropped him with a right.  Abreru throwng wildly and mostly missing.  Head kick by Silva.  Abreu 10-9.

Second round: Silva came in and hit Abreu, who tripped and was staggered but Abreu back with a right that knocked him down and Abreu choked him out.

MARK EDDIVA VS KEVIN SOUZA, FEATHERWEIGHTS

First round: Souza has a huge each and size edge.  Eddiva with a head kick.  Eddiva knocked him down.  Eddiva landing punches.  Fans are now booing.  Sozua up and now he’s landing.  Souza with a big left and a knee to the body.  Another knee by Souza.  Both trading big punches.  Eddiva landed a left. Souza knocked him down with a right.  Eddiva hurt him with a right and bloodied him.  Both landing big punches late.  Great fight because there’s no defense from either guy. Souza really hurting Eddiva. Super round.  Souza 10-9 but I could see it going the other way as well.

Second round:  Side kick by Eddiva.  Low kick by Eddiva and another low kick.  Eddiva with a high kick.  Souza landing punches.  Eddiva throwing hard punches.  Eddiva now working for a takedown.  Souza starting to land big now.  Eddiva back with a hard right. Both swinging wildly. Souza has him in trouble.  Souza landing a ton of punches.  Souza landed a ton of punches and Herb Dean stopped it.

GASAN UMALATOV VS. PAULO THIAGO, WELTERWEIGHTS

First round: Umalatov with a spin kick. Thiago with a body kick. The ref broke it up. Umalatov working for a choke but doesn’t have it.  Neither can take the other down.  Umalatov 10-9.

Second round: Umalatov hurt him with punches and threw him down. Thiago back up. Thiago with a nice knockdown late.  Thiago probably won the round in the final seconds.  Tied 19-19 after two.

Third round: Umalatov landed and Thiago back. Thiago turned it on and took the third round close. I’ve got him winning 29-28. 

Scores: Umalatov 30-27, 29-28, 29-28

ERNEST CHAVEZ VS. ELIAS SILVERIO, LIGHTWEIGHTS

First round: Body kick by Silverio.  Body kick by Silverio.  Chavez punching back.  Silverio with a low blow kick so that led to a time out.  Silverio moved in with knees.  Chavez trying to throw.   Spin kick by Silverio.  Chavez landed a hard right.  Silverio 10-9.

Second round: Silverio landing kicks.  Chavez trying for a takedown.  Ref separated them.  Chavez bleeding from the nose.  Low kick by Silverio.  Another low kick.  Chavez landed a right.  Spin kick by Silverio.  Silverio landing more.  Left by Chavez. Left by Chavez.  Silverio with a right and knees.  Chavez is in trouble late in the round.  Silverio’s round up 20-18.

Third round: Silverio using font kicks to keep distance.  Silverio with lefts.  Silverio with a right.  Bad low blow by Silverio.  Spin kick by Silverio.  Lefts and kicks by Silverio. Silverio with more punches and a low kick. Chavez working for a takedown but doesn’t have it. Chavez landing.  Silverio working for a choke and got the submission.

RASHID MAGOMEDOV VS. RODRIGO DAMM, LIGHTWEIGHTS

First round: Nice body kick by Magomedov. Front kick by Magomedov. Damm with a front kick. Magomedov landed a right. Right by Magomedov.  Body kick by Magomedov.  Body kick by Magomedov.  Mageodmov dropped him with a right.  Magomedov didn’t follow up.  10-9 Magomedov.

Second round: Not a lot happened this round.  Round was all standing and Magomedov was landing more with punches and body kicks and should be up 20-18.

Third round: Magomedov with a left kick to the head.  Right and front kick by Magomedov.  Damm landed a right but Magomedov back with a body kick. Both swinging.  Magomedov should win 30-27.

Scores: All three have it 30-27 for Magomedov

RONY JASON VS. ROBBIE PERALTA, FEATHERWEIGHTS

First round: Jumping knee by Jason.  Jason got a trip and got Peralta’s back but Peralta right back up.  Side kick by Peralta.  Spinning elbow by Jason.  Hard left by Jason.  Peralta landed a combo.  Trip by Jason.  Both landing and Jason slipped throwing a kick as the round ended.  10-9 Jason.

Second round: Peralta landed a series of punches.  Takedown by Jason.  Peralta reversed to the top as Jason tried to pass to mount.  Jason tried a triangle but Peralta escaped.  Peralta kicking his legs while Jason is on his back.  Body kick by Jason.  Peralta hurt him with punches.  More punches by Peralta.  Low kick by Peralta.  Jason with an overhand right and spinning elbow. Jason hurt him with a left and knee.  Both landing punches. Peralta’s round so 19-19 going into the third.

Third round:  Body kick by Jason.  Spin kick by Jason blocked.  Body shot by Jason.  Eye poke by Jason.  It was a finger right in the eye.  They went back to action.  Peralta’s eye still seemed in bad shape.  Peralta with a knee to the body.  Jason tried a takedown but Peralta back up.  Right by Jason.  Peralta wih a left.  This fight is up for grabs with 40 seconds left.  Body kick by Jason.  Jason working for a takedown and got it.  Peralta back up and got a takedown in the last second.  This fight could go eithter way.  Jason close so 29-28.

Scores: 29-28 Peralta 30-27 Jason 30-27 Peralta.  Crowd not happy but they aren’t booing that much.  Jason said he broke his hand 2:00 into the fight.

DEMAIAN MAIA VS. ALEXANDER VAKOVLEV, WELTERWEIGHTS

First round: Not much early.  Maia dropped him with a left.  Maia in full mount.  Maia landing elbows.  More elbows by Maia.  He continues to land elbows.  Maia remained in mount until the end of the round throwing elbows but didn’t come close to finishing 10-9 Maia.

Second round: Yakovlev landed a few punches.  Maia got a takedown with 3:35 left in the round.  Maia moved to mount.  Yakovlev reversed ot the top.  Yakovlev went for a guillotine late.  Maia’s round so he should be up 20-18. 

Third round: Yakovlev with a takedown.  But Yakovlev let him up.  Yakovlev with low kicks.  More low kicks.  Yakovlev landing punches.  Maia looks tired.  Lots of low kicks by Yakovlev.  Maia took him down with a trip.  Maia moved to mount again.  He remained in mount for a while.  Maia looks ot set up an armbar.  Yakovlev with a kick to the body at the end.  Maia 30-27.

Scores: All three have it 30-27 for Maia.

WARLLEY ALVES (Team Sonnen) VS. MARCIO LYOTO ALEXANDRE (Team Sonnen) --- TUF BRAZIL MIDDLEWEIGHT FINAL

First round: High kick by Alexander. Warlley dropped him right away.  Alexandre up.  Warlley is smothering him.  Slam takedown by Warlley.  He landed in side control.  Alexander up.  Warrley is aggressive.  He moved in with a body kick, a spin kick and punch and a takedown.  Warlley 10-9.

Second round: Left and kick by Alexandre. Takedown by Warlley.  Warlley landing punches from the top and then stomping him in the chest.  Now he’s in side control.  Alexandre got a half guard.  Hard body kick by Warlley.  The ref separated a clinch.  Body kick by Alexandre and Warlley took him down.  But Alexandre back up agian.  Another separation.  Back to a clinch.  Warlley 20-18.

Third round: Hard right by Warlley and he grabbed a guillotine and Alexandre passed out immediately without tapping.  Warlley has something.  He can be a Brazilian superstar.

ANTONIO CARLOS JR. (Team Silva) VS. VITOR MIRANDA (Team Sonnen) -- TUF BRAZIL HEAVYWEIGHT FINALS

First round: Carlos Jr. With a knee to the groin and got a warning from Herb Dean.  Carlos Jr. With punches and a takedown.  A trip takedown by Carlos Jr.  Miranda up.  Hard elbow by Carlos Jr. As Miranda got up.  Body kick by Carlos Jr.  Carlos Jr. 10-9.

Second round: Takedown by Carlos Jr. Moved to mount.  Miranda now oon top.  Carlos Jmr. Tired a triagnle but Miranda escaped.  Carlos Jr. Back up.  Carlos Jr. Landed punches as the round ended.  Carlos Jr.’s round up 20-18.

Third round: Takedown by Carlos Jr. Another takedown by Carlos Jr.  He moved to side control,  Some ground and pound by Carlos Jr. Now he got Mianda ‘s bag with a body triangle.  Carlos Jr. Moved to mount.  He pretty much dominated all three rounds.  Carlos Jr. is amazingly good on the ground for a guy so early in his career.  Carlos Jr. Has to win 30-27.

Scores: 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28 Carlos Jr.

FABIO MALDONADO VS. STIPE MIOCIC, HEAVYWEIGHTS

First round: Miocic hurt him right away.  Huge size difference.  Miocic dropped him and finished him in seconds.  Too big a size difference.  It was a right to the side of the head.  Really this was more of a mismatch than we even thought going in.
