  • El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI

Report --

Tokyo's Korakuen Hall was the venue for today's show.

Yuya Uemura defeated Yota Tsuji (6:36)

This didn't get a lot of time but it told a simple story and their work was solid.

Uemura attacked Tsuji's arms, looking to soften him up for the double overhook suplex. Tsuji came back with a slam, hoping to work on Uemura's lower back to set up a Boston crab attempt.

Uemura hit a dropkick. They traded strikes. Tsuji went for a spear but Uemura hit a deep arm drag instead. Uemura followed with the double overhook suplex for the pin.

Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI & Toru Yano defeated Taichi, Zack Sabre Jr. & DOUKI (9:34)

I would call this more of an extended angle than an actual match. It served its purpose in furthering the stories involving the participants.

Suzuki-gun attacked before the opening bell. Sabre and Yano then did some comedy in the ring with the turnbuckle pads as everyone else brawled outside. Sabre cut Yano off and Suzuki-gun worked him over in their corner.

YH and Taichi entered for a short exchange, then it was Goto and DOUKI in for the finish. YH jumped in for some double team spots with Goto.

Goto and YH hit DOUKI with the GYW and Goto covered for the pin.

After the match, Taichi tried to save for DOUKI but got hit with an ushigoroshi from Goto.

A frustrated Sabre and Taichi attacked the referee who then had to be helped to the back after the match.

Will Ospreay & Great-O-Khan (w/Bea Priestley) defeated Kazuchika Okada & Gabriel Kidd (12:28)

Ospreay and O-Khan also attacked before the opening bell. Okada and Kidd fought off the attack at first but Ospreay tossed Okada outside and O-Khan ended up getting the heat on Kidd.

O-Khan took the ref while Priestley and Ospreay did some double team spots on Kidd in their corner. Kidd finally came back with a dropkick and tagged out.

Okada hit some short strikes to Ospreay before O-Khan tagged in. O-Khan's offense just doesn't look particularly good. O-Khan tied Okada to the tree of woe. Okada fought out and tried for a Money Clip. O-Khan escaped the submission hold. Okada hit a dropkick and an air raid crash before tagging out.

As the match broke down near the finish, Okada broke up an O-Khan pin attempt on Kidd. Okada tried to hit Ospreay with a dropkick but Ospreay avoided it.

Kidd and O-Khan exchanged strikes. Kidd went for a double underhook suplex. O-Khan blocked and hit an inverted suplex and a Dominator claw slam for the pin.

***** Intermission *****

Jay White, KENTA & Chase Owens (w/Gedo)  defeated Kota Ibushi, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Tomoaki Honma (13:20)

There was some good stuff in the middle of this match when Tanahashi and KENTA and Ibushi and White interacted, but a lot of filler with Honma and Owens surrounding that action.

Tanahashi and White had an ab-off before the match.

Tanahashi and Honma did some double team work on Owens early. Bullet Club cut Honma off and worked him over.

Ibushi and White tagged in for their back and forth. White hit a blade buster. Ibushi hit a high kick. They did some nice counters and teases that will pay off in their Power Struggle match on Saturday.

Tanahashi and KENTA entered and had a nice exchange. KENTA tried for Game Over but Tana fought it off. Tana hit a twist and shout.

Honma and Owens tagged back in. Tana, Ibushi and Honma hit a triple kokeshi on Owens. Gedo took the ref. Honma ducked a briefcase shot from White. Tanahashi saved Honma from a briefcase shot from KENTA.

Honma missed a middle rope kokeshi to set up the finish. Owens then hit a running knee strike and  a package piledriver and pinned Honma.

KENTA and White terrorized the Young Lions at ringside after the match.

Tetsuya Naito & SANADA defeated EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi (w/Dick Togo) by DQ (11:47)

This was also more of an angle than a match.

EVIL and Naito began. Yujiro exposed a buckle and EVIL sent Naito and SANADA into it. They brawled to the floor where Bullet Club established the edge. EVIL sent Naito into the barricade. Togo hammered Naito with strikes.

Back in, Naito avoided a misdirection lariat attempt and hit EVIL with a neckbreaker. Yujiro and SANADA got tags. Yujiro fought off a paradise lock and avoided Skull End. SANADA got Skull End on his second try and hit planchas on EVIL and Togo.

Yujiro and SANADA did a comedy spot where they bit each other's hands. EVIL tagged in and got hit with a dropkick to the knee.

Naito tagged in and hit some back elbows attacking EVIL's neck, potentially setting up for Destino later.

Togo jumped on the apron before climbing into the ring and going after Naito with his ligature. This was enough for Red Shoes to call for the DQ.

EVIL laid out Naito with Everything is EVIL and a belt shot after the match. Shingo Takagi left the commentary desk and helped SANADA lead Naito to the back.

IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship match: El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru defeated Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI to retain the titles (28:26)

This was an excellent main event. All four guys worked incredibly hard.

It was LIJ who attacked before the bell this time. They brawled around ringside with LIJ in control. Back inside, BUSHI choked Desperado with his t-shirt. Hiromu and Desperado exchanged palm strikes to the chest.

Hiromu hit a shotgun dropkick in the corner on both Kanemaru and Desperado. Hiromu went for a dropkick off the apron but Kanemaru stepped out of the way and Hiromu crashed to the floor. Suzuki-gun then dominated a brawl around ringside.

Desperado and Kanemaru worked Hiromu over. Desperado used a single-leg crab. Kanemaru used a chinlock. Desperado missed a back elbow in the corner. That allowed Hiromu to hit a dragon screw and tag out.

BUSHI hit a rana on Desperado. Kanemaru cut him off before he could follow with a suicide dive. BUSHI answered with a rana over the top to the floor and a spinning neckbreaker on Desperado for a near fall.

Kanemaru tagged in and worked on BUSHI's left leg. BUSHI tagged Hiromu who ran wild on Kanemaru. Hiromu hit a dropkick and a falcon arrow for a near fall.

Suzuki-gun used an illegal double team to cut off Hiromu. Kanemaru hit an inverted DDT for a near fall and avoided Hiromu's DVD into the buckle. Kanemaru hit a moonsault for a two count. Hiromu blocked Deep Impact with a superkick.

Kanemaru used a misdirection spot to land a tornado DDT. Kanemaru ht Deep Impact but BUSHI saved for Kanemaru. Hiromu rolled Kanemaru up for a near fall. BUSHI and Hiromu doubled up on Kanemaru but Desperado made the save.

BUSHI hit Desperado with a suicide dive. Hiromu hit a DVD into the buckle. He went for Time Bomb but Kanemaru grabbed the referee and halted the move. Hiromu blocked a low blow and hit two superkicks. Hiromu went for a package driver but Kanemaru blocked and hit a brainbuster.

Desperado and BUSHI tagged in. Desperado hit a spinebuster and tried for a stretch muffler. BUSHI reached the ropes. Desperado hit Guitarra de Angel but BUSHI kicked out. BUSHI blocked Pinche Loco and hit a top rope rana and a destroyer for near falls.

BUSHI went for MX. Desperado threw the ref in BUSHI's path and the ref took a bump. Desperado hit a right hand. Everyone was down.

Desperado went for a belt shot but a second referee grabbed the belt away. Desperado used a stretch muffler. Hiromu broke it up. Hiromu and BUSHI hit a tandem sunset bomb and a double team finisher on Desperado but Kanemaru saved.

BUSHI went for an MX. Desperado caught him off the top but stumbled before what was supposed to be the finish. Desperado then hit Pinche Loco for the pin.

Desperado closed the show with a promo.
