There are new reports regarding WWE’s plans for the upcoming holiday season.
Both Christmas and New Year’s Day land on Friday this year. Post Wrestling reported this afternoon that WWE will be holding their New Year's Day episode of SmackDown live on January 1st.
Meanwhile, Inside the Ropes reported earlier this week that the Christmas episode of SmackDown would be taped in advance.
WWE normally tapes shows ahead of Christmas or Christmas Eve in order to let staff and wrestlers take the holiday off. However, they did hold a live Christmas edition of Raw back in 2017.
AEW’s schedule doesn’t fall on either Christmas or New Year’s Eve. They will hold a Holiday Bash edition of Dynamite on December 23 following the Celtics vs. Bucks NBA game. They will then hold a two week event called New Year’s Smash, which runs on December 30 and January 6. Snoop Dogg will be a special guest on the latter event.
