AEW Dark Elevation results: Scorpio Sky vs. Alex Reynolds

It’s Monday and you know what that means: time for an eleven-match AEW Dark: Elevation featuring several debuts.

Wardlow defeated Jason Hotch

Wardlow had a backstage promo talking about Friday's MMA match with Jake Hager for Dynamite. He won this match in a matter of seconds by stoppage after a brutal lifting knee strike. Also, massive credit goes to Hotch and how he both took and sold the finisher. This was also Wardlow’s debut on Elevation and his record improved to 13-4. The knee needs a name like the Death Sentence or The Law or Wardlow.

Lee Johnson & Dustin Rhodes defeated VSK & Travis Titan

This one saw two new tag teams face one another in a solid match. Johnson, in particular, showed great offense as everything he did was clean. He picked up the win for his team with the Brain Dog -- a great start for the new Nightmare Family team.

Angelico (w/ Jack Evans) defeated Mike Sydal (w/ Matt Sydal)

This was one of the best matches of the night as both worked really well with each other. During the match, Matt Hardy showed up to cheer on Angelico as he is still trying to recruit TH2 to the Hardy Family Office. Angelico submitted Sydal with a combination of a Navarro Death Roll and an ankle lock.

After the match, Hardy celebrated with Angelico and ordered him to attack Mike  with the Death Roll on the outside, but Matt ran back out to make the save.

Shawn Spears defeated Falco

The Pinnacle team member worked a more aggressive style which worked really well for this match. Spears won with the C4. In today’s very fun trivia, the name of Spears’ finisher is called that because he hits his opponents on the C4 vertebrae with it.

Private Party (w/ H.F.O.) defeated Dean Alexander & Carlie Bravo

Private Party gave up too much offense here, but it was still an entertaining match. Private Party works better as heels. They picked up the win after Gin and Juice.

Nyla Rose (w/ Vickie Guerrero) defeated Megan Bayne

Per usual, this started with Guerrero yelling “EXCUSE ME” and burying Justin Roberts so she could introduce Rose. And per usual, this was a dominant performance from Rose who won in a matter of seconds after the Beast Bomb.

Orange Cassidy (w/ Best Friends & Kris Statlander) defeated Cameron Cole

Earlier on the show, The Wingmen (the best dressed faction in AEW by a longshot) cut a very convincing promo on why Orange Cassidy should join them and ditch Best Friends. This was the Cole's debut. Tony Schiavone put really over the Orange Punch which Cassidy won with, ending another short match.

Penta El Zero Miedo & Eddie Kingston (w/ Alex Abrahantes) defeated Arik Cannon & Kevin Blackwood

This was the tag team AEW debut of Cannon and Blackwood and Cannon's promotional debut overall. This was a fun and short match that Kingston and Penta won with a combination of Fear Factor and a half & half suplex. They move on to Dynamite in a big six-man on Friday.

Julia Hart (w/ Varsity Blonds) defeated Dani Jordyn

This was a nice little match as  Hart has a lot of potential, especially since she’s part of the Varsity Blonds. Hart won with a backflip neckbreaker of sorts over Jordyn's shoulders that looked impressive.

Aaron Solow & QT Marshall defeated Deonn Rusman & Joe Keys

Marshall and Solow had a great showing while Rusman and Keys looked alright in several spots. This was Keys' AEW debut as he's been in Ring of Honor as of late. Solow won this match with a pedigree.

Scorpio Sky (w/ Ethan Page) defeated Alex Reynolds

This was one of the better matches on the show. This mini-feud between Men of the Year (Page & Sky) with the Dark Order has produced some good matches on both Elevation and Dark. Sky won with the heel hook running his 2021 record to 15-2. AEW has done a good job building the heel hook as a strong submission finisher for Sky.

Final Thoughts:

At a runtime of 1:13, this was an easy watch as most of the matches were short with very dominant performances for the main roster talent. All matches served their purpose and didn’t overstay their welcome.

Rose and Wardlow, in particular, were given strong wins tonight which makes sense given Wardlow's fight with Hager Friday and Rose being built as Women's Champion Britt Baker's next challenger. The Wingmen are a guilty pleasure faction of mine as I know they are bad, but their humor gets me every time and their backstage promo trying to convince Cassidy to join them is worth watching.

Sky vs. Alex Reynolds and Sydal vs. Angelico were the best matches of the night while Hart vs. Jordyn is also recommended.
