AEW Dark Elevation results: Jungle Boy vs. JD Drake

It’s Monday and you know what that means: time for AEW Dark: Elevation. For the first time ever, the show had live fans as these matches were taped over Double or Nothing weekend in Jacksonville.

The Acclaimed defeated The Tate Twins

Max Caster and Anthony Bowens were received by cheers and you could tell fans loved Caster’s rap. This was also the Twins' AEW debut. This was a solid opener as the Twins (Brandon and Brent) are an interesting team especially if you’ve seen their indie matches. The Acclaimed won following Caster’s Mic Drop with Bowens making the pin.

Leyla Hirsch defeated Robyn Renegade

You could tell by her expressions during the match that Hirsch was so excited to wrestle in front of fans again. She showcased some of her amateur wrestling background and made Renegade tap with the cross armbreaker. Hirsch is now ranked in the top five due to a very long winning streak.

Thunder Rosa defeated Reka Tehaka

Earlier on the show, Rosa cut a promo about Britt Baker still being afraid and that she is the next contender for the AEW Women’s title. She got a great reaction when she came out for her entrance and the crowd was super hot for this match.

Tehaka had yet another solid Elevation performance, but Rosa was the star here and the crowd reacted to all her moves. Rosa won by submission with the Peruvian calavera necktie.

Varsity Blonds (w/ Julia Hart) defeated Chaos Project

Similar to other wrestlers on the show, the Blondes got a huge pop when they came out. This was a showcase match for Griff Garrison and Brian Pillman Jr. as the crowd were very into them. Hart as their cheerleader was such a great idea. Garrison looked awesome here in one of the more competitive matches on the show. The Blondes picked up the win after a springboard Air Pillman clothesline from Pillman Jr. to Luther.

The Bunny & Nyla Rose defeated Big Swole & Red Velvet (w/ Vickie Guerrero & H.F.O.)

Before the match started, Vickie Guerrero came out and once again buried Justin Roberts. During Big Swole’s entrance, Tony Schiavone was singing her theme which was very funny.

Surprisingly, this match got a super hot reaction. Both teams worked alright together with Rose and Bunny winning after Bunny hit Swole with a foreign object, leaving Rose open to make the pin.

Penta El Zero Miedo (w/ Alex Abrahantes) defeated Jack Evans (w/ Angelico)

Penta cut a promo in Spanish talking about he and PAC's tag team match this Friday against the Young Bucks on Dynamite. Penta also talked about his previous history with Evans in Mexico. Penta got one of the biggest pops of the show.

My personal favorite part of the match was both guys talking trash in Spanish. This was one of the best matches of the night as Evans and Penta work so well together. Penta won after hitting the Fear Factor.

Hopefully, this will be the year AEW pushes Fenix and Penta as they deserve much more.

Tay Conti defeated Ashley D’Amboise

Conti was another wrestler that got a great reception during her entrance and the match. Conti carried most of the offense and looked great in doing so. Conti won with the DDTay, her seventh win in her last eight outings.

Jungle Boy (w/ Jurassic Express) defeated JD Drake (w/ The Wingmen)

Jungle Boy had an interview with Schiavone talking about his win at Double or Nothing. Christian Cage came out and put Jungle Boy over, but Matt Hardy appeared out of nowhere and insulted him. Hardy and Private Party attacked Cage, but Jungle Boy made the save.

Jungle Boy had probably the biggest pop of the night as the crowd went nuts after his entrance song ended. Jungle Boy both looked and wrestled like a star. The crowd is going to explode when he wrestles AEW World Champion Kenny Omega on Dynamite in two weeks.

This match was the usual hoss dominating with their power (Drake) with the smaller wrestler using their speed and athleticism to counter (Jungle Boy). Jungle Boy won via submission with the Snare Trap. After the match, the crowd cheered Jungle Boy big time. AEW really has something with him right now.

Final Thoughts:

This was a very fun episode to watch as the crowd really enhancing things big time. Both Penta and Jungle Boy were the stars this week, both with their matches and crowd reaction. Jungle Boy and Drake had the match of the night.

This episode had less filler than other weeks whch really helped it deliver. Besides Jungle Boy and Penta, the crowd were the protagonists of this show. Wrestling is better with crowds.

One of the other highlights was a promo from Dustin Rhodes talking about bullrope match against Nick Comoroto. Also, Joey Janela had an interview with Alex Marvez where he was unhinged and hinted toward a heel turn. This was quite interesting and something different for Janela.
