Show Report --

CM Punk made his entrance to start the show and joined commentary.

Malakai Black defeated Dante Martin (w/ Lio Rush)

This was an odd match. There were spectacular moments to be sure, but Dante isn't all the way there as a wrestler. Black either had a stinger or is a really good seller, although his selling didn't really make sense for the story of the matach.

After a chain wrestling exchange, Dante forced Black to the floor with a dropkick but was taken down right away with a back elbow. A big moment early on was Black countering a springboard straight into a powerbomb and locking on a deep single-leg crab, forcing Dante into the ropes to break. Black showed more unorthodox offense with some tripping takedowns and continued to target Dante's knee.

No commercial break interruption in this one. Dante's comeback started with a reverse hurricanrana. He hit a crazy dive that wasn't perfect where he sprung up to the top rope without pulling himself up. A nice strike exchange led to a German suplex bridge from Black for the first major near fall.

Dante landed a top-rope hurricanrana for the match's big high spot, but he sold his knee on the impact. He hit the double jump moonsault, but it wasn't enough to put Black away. Black immediately popped up into the single leg crab, but a midsection injury forced him to relinquish the hold. Black avoided yet another dive and hit the spinning heel kick for the win.

Jurassic Express were asked about their health status. Kenny Omega and Adam Cole interrupted, but then the Young Bucks blindsided the Express with superkicks before Omega powerbombed Luchasaurus through a table.

The Inner Circle Reunites

The original five all came out to "Judas" before soaking in the adulation. Santana hyped up the crowd before addressing America's Top Team, who interrupted. Dan Lambert called the Inner Circle a "circle jerk" before admonishing the crowd for booing them.

Jericho tried to accuse Paige Van Zant of trying to "slide into his DMs." He said there would be no more unmatched beatdowns. He wants a five-on-five tag team match. Lambert said the Men of the Year have bigger plans, and those plans involve championships. He ran down the Inner Circle one-by-one before saying he'd give Guevara his terms next week.

Sky interrupted and reminded us he has pinned Jericho twice. Guevara said he'd beat both of the Men of the Year right now.

AAA Tag Team Championships: Las Super Ranas (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (w/ Andrade El Idolo) defeated Lucha Bros (Penta El Zero M & Rey Fénix) (c) to win the titles

This was indescribably bad and nonsensical. What a pathetic way to treat internationally recognized championships that just had a classic match last weekend. At least the Lucha Bros hit a couple dives.

"Ranas" means "frogs" in Spanish. It was FTR in wacky lucha libre outfits. They performed a caricaturized version of lucha libre, going after the Lucha Bros' masks. The Lucha Bros were able to unmask them before the break.

Fénix made his comeback with an assisted dive, allowing Penta to land his diving dropkick to the posterior. They then landed simultaneous dives to the outside. Wheeler tried to use the AAA belt. Penta avoided it, but was sent into the timekeeper's table. Dax got a good rope-assisted roll-up.

Tully Blanchard ran out and distracted the official as Dax hit a belt shot and the brainbuster to win the AAA tag championships.

Dante Martin and Lio Rush were backstage. Rush said that Dante failed because of his own doing. He's trying to take Dante to new heights. From this day forward, Rush will be Dante's new tag team partner.

**********

Schiavone caught up to FTR and Andrade celebrating backstage. MJF walked up, and Andrade handed him payment. MJF said using FTR was a "one night thing."

Jon Moxley defeated Wheeler YUTA (w/ Orange Cassidy)

Moxley went right after YUTA before the bell. He hit a release suplex, ground and pound, and the Paradigm Shift for the squash win.

– The officials and Cassidy checked on YUTA after the match.

Deeb was interviewed about her victory over Hikaru Shida. She said she finally brought the AEW women's division to her level. Shida attacked and they brawled.

SuperKliq (Adam Cole, Matt Jackson, & Nick Jackson) defeated Dark Order (Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds, & John Silver)

This was a fun trios match as expected. Jungle Boy came across like a killer in the post-match.

SuperKliq attacked before the bell and went for an assisted powerbomb on the ramp, but Silver reversed it and Reynolds took out everyone with a dive. The bell finally rang and the Dark Order kept up the attack with triple team offense. Silver had a great run of offense going before Matt cut him off with a superkick. Cole stopped a Reynolds dive with a kick before hitting an assisted ushigoroshi. SuperKliq continued to dominate through a commercial.

A double suplex allowed Silver to reach Uno for the hot tag. Uno pulled out a sock and went for a Mandible Claw, but Cole broke it up. Silver and Reynolds mocked the Bucks kissing Cole and sent him crashing onto the Bucks outside. Uno hit Something Evil for a near fall, but the Bucks broke up the pin.

The Bucks took out Uno and Silver as Cole and Reynolds were the only ones left in the ring. Reynolds rolled Cole up for a good near fall but ran into superkicks from the Bucks followed by the Panama Sunrise. The BTE Trigger and then the running knee from Cole got SuperKliq the win.

– After the match, Jungle Boy immediately ran out but was quickly dispatched by the SuperKliq. He produced a chair and cracked it across Brandon Cutler's back as the SuperKliq fled. He then locked in the Snare Trap while spraying cold spray in Cutler's eyes.

Another Cody Rhodes/Arn Anderson vignette played. Dustin Rhodes let them into the Rhodes Wrestling Academy, where Red Velvet slapped Cody. Arn made Cody do basic drills against all five trainees at once, including Lee Johnson and Brock Anderson. KiLynn King slapped Cody and he began bleeding from the mouth. Arn motivated Cody using a memory of the past, saying "Malakai Black has it coming."

MJF promo

MJF came out and mocked the crowd using Spanish. He came out in his ring gear and introduced himself as if he was about to wrestle a match against Darby Allin, but Allin wasn't cleared after the Pinnacle's attack last week. He played coy about the attack before bringing out Wardlow, who had referee Bryce Remsburg in tow. MJF demanded that Remsburg count to ten to force a forfeit.

Remsburg counted, but before he could get to ten, Sting made his entrance, bat in hand. MJF threw Wardlow in the way and Sting hit Wardlow with the bat. Sting dropped the bat and wanted a fight, but MJF stormed off.

Anna Jay was asked about the Dark Order's loss but was immediately interrupted by Britt Baker, who called them losers. Jay's a loser and a follower herself. Jay punched her and they had to be broken up by officials.

Penelope Ford defeataed Kiera Hogan

This was a bit of a struggle, although both showed flashes.

They got lost immediately, but Ford was able to recover with a quick hip toss. The match went to commercial early on with Ford firmly in control. They fought on the top rope upon return, leading to a Hogan superplex. Hogan made a comeback with clotheslines and a running dropkick for two. Ford hit a handspring cutter and then applied the Muta lock for the submission.

– Ruby Soho immediately ran out and attacked. Bunny ran out and saved Ford. Soho wanted to keep fighting, but Ford and Bunny retreated.

Miro's faith was being tested after losing the TNT Championship. "Why have you forsaken me?" He's done pleading. Everyone else will know pain until he becomes God's favorite champion once again.

Hangman Page promo

Awesome, simple, pure babyface promo from AEW's top star.

Hangman Page was brought out for an interview with Tony Schiavone. He said he was excited for Full Gear. The original vision of AEW was to change the world, but it feels like the world changed him. He failed to be the first AEW world champion and went on a losing streak, losing his confidence and friends along the way. The one thing that brought him back was people chanting "Cowboy sh*t."

"Cowboy sh*t," to Page, meant lots of things, including going back home to be there for the birth of a beautiful baby boy. When you fall off the horse, you get back up and keep going. He knows the fans still believe in him, and for the first time in his life, he does too. At Full Gear, Page will give us everything, his blood, sweat, and tears, and "cowboy sh*t."

Bryan Danielson defeated Bobby Fish

This was a really fun battle of two wrestlers with similar styles.

Fish took control with kicks early on, but Danielson maneuvered out of a cover and tried to pick Fish apart. Danielson used evasive movement on his corner backflip but was cut off with another kick from Fish. Danielson sent Fish to the floor and landed a tope suicida. Fish kicked out Danielson's legs on the apron and regained control through the break.

Once back, Fish continued with his MMA-styled offense. A sliding lariat got two. Danielson started his comeback by countering a crab into an ankle lock and then a German suplex. He laid in kicks and multiple dragon screw leg whips, turning the target of his attack to Fish's knee. Fish caught a kick and hit a sick backdrop driver for two.

Fish landed an avalanche falcon arrow and immediately locked on a knee bar. Danielson transitioned into a 50/50 position with simultaneous heel kicks and knee bars. Danielson won the exchange and locked on a heel hook for the submission.

First-round matches for the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament:

  • Jon Moxley vs. 10
  • Orange Cassidy vs. Powerhouse Hobbs (Rampage next week)
  • Bryan Danielson vs. Dustin Rhodes (Dynamite next week)
  • Eddie Kingston vs. Lance Archer (Dynamite next week)

(That's a mildly disappointing bracket. AEW an insanely stacked roster, but some of these names are either not portrayed as world title contenders or have challenged for the championship already. 10's inclusion in particular sticks out; unless the plan is to just squash him, I don't know why you don't go with someone else in the Dark Order or on the roster in general.)
