Show Report --

The coffin was set up at ringside.

Coffin match: Darby Allin defeated Brody King

This was wild, violent, and so much fun.

Darby attacked during King's entrance and whacked him with his skateboard -- dotted with thumbtacks for the occasion. He ground the skateboard against King's face and King was immediately busted open badly. Out on the outside, King avoided a swing with the skateboard and sent Darby over the timekeeper's table. He broke the skateboard, infuriating Darby, who ran in with a relentless attack.

Back inside, Darby hit an avalanche Code Red. King recovered on the outside and drove Darby hard into the barricade repeatedly, with the last one flipping Darby into the front row. The big man dominated through a commercial, during which he also set up a table.

Once back, Darby rolled out of the way of a diving splash and King crashed through the table. Darby set up for his wild tope, but the lights went out, and when they came back on, Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews were standing in front of King. Darby went for the dive anyway, but Julia Hart tripped him up, allowing Black and Buddy to beat him down.

King crushed Darby through a propped up table with a cannonball senton. There was a loud "We Want Sting!" chant, and when Buddy went out to open the coffin, Sting was inside, bat in hand. He attacked Buddy and King with the bat, then tossed the bat to Black for a challenge. Black thought about using it but instead just dropped the bat and retreated.

Darby landed a suicide dive sending King precariously close to the coffin, but King recovered to slam Darby onto the steel steps. King opened the coffin, but Darby fought back with a chain and choked him out. King collapsed right into the coffin, giving Darby the win.

Jon Moxley was backstage. He talked about the meaning of the AEW World Championship, saying it was about enduring pain. Tonight, the last survivor of the Hart Dungeon returns, and Moxley will push him to his breaking point. If Chris Jericho's fighting spirit doesn't break, his body will.

After the break, a clean-shaven and fresh-faced Jericho said he'd become AEW World Champion. He said Stu Hart was vicious and sadistic, and he didn't want to think about that pain until tonight. Jericho's going to stretch Moxley and leave lasting scars. He was the firsst AEW champion, and he will be the next.

Tornado Tag: La Facción Ingobernable (Andrade El Ídolo & Rush) (w/ Jose The Assistant) defeated Lucha Bros (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fénix) (w/ Alex Abrahantes)

This was an absolutely incredible tornado tag match. Rush was always great, but he's been a revelation in AEW.

Andrade and Rush controlled the action early on, then it was just Rush and Penta in the ring for a strike exchange. Penta sent Rush to the floor, where Fénix landed dives on both opponents. Penta hit Made In Penta for two. The Lucha Brothers went for their double team Fear Factor, but Andrade cut it off and they tossed Fénix onto his own brother for two.

Rush and Andrade landed simultaneous topes con giro ahead of a commercial. Once back, Fénix took out Rush with an assisted tijeras and Penta hit a backstabber on Andrade. The Lucha Bros hit a cazadora splash on Andrade for two. An assisted double stomp from Fénix got two more, then the Lucha Bros hit simultaneous topes con giro.

Fénix went for a frog splash, but Andrade got the knees up and covered for a close two. Andrade inadvertently thrust kicked his own partner, Penta cut off the hammerlock DDT, and Rush took out Penta with a shotgun dropkick. Andrade hit double knees in the corner but ran into a springboard thrust kick. Rush crushed Penta with a powerbomb but was cut off by a rolling cutter from Penta.

Everyone was down. Eventually, Penta made his way to the apron where he hit a destroyer on Andrade. He went for the Fear Factor on Rush, but Rush fought out of it and landed a jumping knee. A Rush headbutt stunned Fénix and Andrade hit a Final Cut on him for two as Rush tied Penta's mask in the ropes.

Fénix tried to fight off Andrade with a thrust kick but ran right into a missile dropkick. Rush had it won, but Penta unmasked himself to make the save, like the famous Octagon spot. Andrade threw Penta's mask into the crowd, José took out Abrahantes, but Fénix rolled up Rush for a great near fall. Rush set Fénix up for the Bull Horns and nailed it, then Andrade hit the El Ídolo hammerlock DDT for the win.

The Young Bucks ran into the Dark Order (and Hangman Page) backstage. The Bucks thanked Page for saving them after Adam Cole and reDRagon attacked them last week. Matt started to reminisce on the good times and how it built AEW. He pointed out how they were in the building where Page won the AEW World Championship. Maybe he and Nick are bad people, but when they're around Page, he brings out the best in them.

Matt asked Page to be their partner, but Page said that he just can't. The Dark Order were there for them, and Page feels he should have their back. He'll be in their corner. The Bucks walked off.

Jungle Boy made his entrance and joined commentary.

Luchasaurus defeated Anthony Henry

Luchasaurus absolutely flattened Henry with a German. Henry hit an enzuigiri, but Luchasaurus returned fire with a headbutt and the Fossilizer for the squash win.

– After the match, Christian started to talk on the video board. Jungle Boy immediately sprinted to him from commentary to attack, but was restrained by security. Luchasaurus attacked all the security guards, chokeslamming one onto a crate before headbutting Pat Buck, who had run up to stop things. Jungle Boy called for help to check on him.

Powerhouse Hobbs was asked backstage about being done with Ricky Starks, but before he could answer, QT Marshall and The Factory walked up and said they'd finish Starks tonight. Hobbs told QT not to let his problem become Hobbs'.

**********

Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh walked out. Dutt talked about Satnam slamming Wardlow through the table and said they weren't done with Wardlow. Lethal gave Wardlow an offer: either defend the title against him again, or they'll just come take it.

Wardlow came out and said he could have a shot if he wanted it, but tonight, he's whooping all three of their asses. He stormed the ring, but on the way down, FTR came out and backed up their former Pinnacle ally. Lethal and company retreated, and when Lethal tried to give Wardlow a surprise attack, FTR cut him off and hit the Big Rig.

2point0, Daniel Garcia, and Anna Jay were backstage. 2point0 said Jericho would win the title tonight, and they have a celebration prepared. Garcia called out Bryan Danielson and called himself the Dragonslayer. Jay found Rebel walking by and accused her of not thinking Garcia's the Dragonslayer, so she choked her out.

Ricky Starks defeated Aaron Solo (w/ The Factory)

These two were tag partners on the indies. They wrestled around at the start until Cole Karter tripped Starks up, leading to the official ejecting them. Starks quickly recovered, but Solo countered the Roshambo. Starks was then able to hit the Spear for the quick win.

– After the match, Nick Comoroto attacked Starks, with Starks able to fight him off momentarily. He was overwhelmed by the two-on-one attack but avoided a chair shot and ran up the ramp to escape the rest of the Factory.

The camera cut backstage to Hobbs smashing a TV backstage.

TBS Championship: Jade Cargill (c) (w/ Stokely Hathaway & Kiera Hogan) defeated Madison Rayne

Jade overpowered Rayne early on until Rayne avoided a tackle and landed a missile dropkick. Rayne countered an electric chair by turning it into a hurricanrana outside. A distraction from Kiera allowed Jade to crush Rayne with a spear ahead of the break.

Back from commercial, Jade hit a one-armed suplex. Rayne returned fire with a jawbreaker and an enzuigiri. A neckbreaker followed, allowing Rayne to climb the ropes and hit something of a flipping neckbreaker for two. Rayne hit a desperation DDT for two more.

Kiera hopped on the apron and distracted Rayne. Rayne recovered to roll Jade up. She went for the Cross-Rayne, but Jade reversed it into Jaded for the win.

– After the match, Athena attacked Jade, but Kiera pulled her to safety. Athena posed with the TBS Championship.

Jericho came out in full Lionheart branding, including his gear, appearance, entrance video, and music.

William Regal joined commentary.

Interim AEW World Championship: Jon Moxley (c) defeated Chris Jericho

This was a fantastic big-fight main event between two of AEW's defining performers.

Jericho flipped Moxley off, so the champ returned the favor. There was some mind games and showboating from Jericho early on before they performed chain wrestling. They both teased finishers before Jericho locked on almost a grounded octopus with a wristlock. Lionheart went for more llave submissions until Moxley laid in strikes. Jericho returned fire by ripping Moxley's earring out and hitting his signature springboard dropkick ahead of the commercial.

During the break, Moxley was busted open around his ear. Jericho hit a double underhook backbreaker and a lionsault for two, but Moxley went for a juji gatame on the kickout. He wrenched on Jericho's arm, forcing Jericho to fight back with forearms to break free. Moxley recovered to apply an ankle lock before hitting a German suplex. Jericho returned fire with a German of his own.

They fought on the top rope, where Jericho hit a frankensteiner for two. He wrapped Moxley's legs around the ring post and locked on a figure four. Back in the ring, Moxley applied a crossface. Jericho considered tapping but eventually was able to roll out and lock on the Walls of Jericho.

The production team went to picture in picture with Moxley locked in the Walls, ostensibly a finishing hold, which was an odd choice. Jericho held the Walls for legitimately minutes, through the entire commercial break, with only a brief reprieve for Moxley. Once back, Moxley finally reached the ropes. They kept the crowd into it during that whole submission sequence, which was remarkable.

Moxley landed a diving double axe handle on Jericho out on the floor. He went for it again inside the ring, but Jericho countered it into a Codebreaker for a near fall. There was a really weird moment when Sammy Guevara tried to toss Jericho Floyd the Bat, he completely whiffed on the throw, but Jericho used it anyway for a near fall.

After a cradle exchange, Jericho hit the Judas Effect for a great near fall -- the first time it's been kicked out of in AEW. Jericho grabbed the title belt but went face first into the exposed turnbuckle, allowing Moxley to lock on a rear naked choke and then the Bulldog choke. Jericho, busted open badly, turned it into the Lion Tamer, which Moxley in turn floated over into ground and pound.

Moxley re-applied the rear naked choke. Jericho fought and fought but eventually tapped as the champ retained.

– After the match, Sammy Guevara and Jake Hager ran out and attacked Moxley, leading to the Blackpool Combat Club making the save. 2point0 and Daniel Garcia ran out to give the Jericho Appreciation Society the numbers advantage. Jericho set up to smash Moxley with the belt, but then...

"Cult of Personality" played and CM Punk made his return. He effortlessly dispatched 2point0, Guevara, Hager, and then Jericho. The Jericho Appreciation Society retreated, which meant it was time for Punk and Moxley to face off. Moxley flipped Punk off and shoulder-bumped him before walking up with the rest of the Blackpool Combat Club. Punk soaked in the adoration in the ring to end the show.
