WWE NXT live results: Two Tag Team title matches

Tonight's NXT is a Tag Team Championship edition of the show.

Two Tag Team title matches will be taking place on tonight's show. MSK will put their NXT Tag Team titles on the line against Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch, while Io Shirai & Zoey Stark will defend their NXT Women's Tag Team titles against Kayden Carter & Kacy Catanzaro.

Lorcan & Burch had to vacate the NXT Tag Team titles this March due to Burch suffering a separated shoulder. MSK then won a triple threat match at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver in April to become the new champions.

Shirai & Stark won the NXT Women's Tag Team titles from Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell at July's Great American Bash. Tonight will be their first title defense.

Ember Moon vs. Kay Lee Ray and Carmelo Hayes vs. Santos Escobar are also set for tonight. Plus, Tian Sha's Mei Ying and Diamond Mine's Julius & Brutus Creed will make their in-ring debuts.

We'll also see InDex's bachelor and bachelorette parties ahead of their wedding next week.

Our coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

The show opened with a women's match set up on the previous episode of NXT.

Kay Lee Ray defeated Ember Moon

Ray pinned Moon in a really good match.

Comepetitive match from the start with Moon setting a quick pace. Moon was cut off, and Ray slowed the pace by working over Moon. Ray targeted an arm. Moon fought back while still selling her arm. Moon struck a flying codebreaker for a near fall.

Moon applied a crossface. Ray was able to escape, and she sent Moon crashing into a turnbuckle. The show cut to a picture-in-picture commercial break, and Moon was in trouble. Moon made a comeback after the show returned from the break. Ray responded by executing a tornado DDT. A moment later, Moon reversed a suplex, and Moon suplexed Ray out of the ring. Moon followed with a tope.

Moon went to the top rope, but Ray cut her off. Ray leapt off the top rope into a swanton bomb that netted a two count. Crazy cool counter by Moon led to a Michinoku Driver. Ray managed to kick out. A moment later, Ray would use a counter of her own. Ray dropped Moon to the mat with a Gory Bomb, and Ray covered Moon for a three count.

McKenzie Mitchell interviewed Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan. Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland were flanking them. Burch did not want to talk about his return. He and Lorcan vowed to win the tag titles. Dunne told them to not only win the titles, Dunne also said to "end" MSK.

Bachelorette Party

Indi Hartwell showed up to her bachelorette party. Candice LeRae was there along with Indi's friends. Indi thanked one friend for coming all the way from Australia. Her friend said she came for Disney World. Indi toasted Candice, and Candice gave a toast saying she has accepted Dexter Lumis.

There were jokes. One joke was about cracking nuts. Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter were on Tik Tok, and Candice called it "Flip Flop." Indi wondered what was happening at the bachelor party, and Candice remarked she had spy gear. So Indi and Candice are going to spy on the dudes.

Santos Escobar (with El Legado del Fantasma) defeated Carmelo Hayes

Escobar pinned Hayes after interference from Legado del Fantasma. Elektra Lopez gave Hayes a bodyslam on the floor before Escobar used his finisher to win the match.

Lopez wore a red jacket, sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat. The look had me asking where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?

The match went through a commercial break. Just before the break, Hayes was sent flying off the apron. Hayes smacked the announce table, and he was down selling as the show went to break.

Escobar worked over Hayes. Comeback by Hayes. He exploded into a flurry of offense. Springboard guillotine leg drop, springbaord clothesline and a cutter by Hayes. Escobar still kicked out. Hayes went for another springboard, and Escobar struck with a knee strike in mid-air. Hayes would fight back to counter Esobar, delivering a codebreaker.

La Mistica takedown by Hayes for another two count. Hayes DDT'd Escobar on the apron. Legado del Fantasma would soon interfere and cause a distraction. Doing a Chyna spot, Lopez bodyslammed Hayes on the floor. Escobar then executes a Phantom Driver for a pinfall.

Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter were warming up for their match later on by doing tandem moves.

Malcolm Bivens introduced the Creed brothers as the newest members of Diamond Mine. They debut in NXT as a team later tonight.

William Regal announced a fatal four way for next week that will determine a number one contedner to the NXT Championship. Kyle O'Reilly vs. Tommaso Ciampa vs. Pete Dunne vs. LA Knight is set for next Tuesday on NXT. Winner gets a title shot at Samoa Joe.

Julius & Brutus Creed (with Diamond Mine) defeated Chuckie Viola & Paxton Averill

Creed brothers won with ease in an enhancement match, and it looked stiff like a Road Warriors squash match. Playing off their impressive amateur wrestling background, they wore plain singlets and wrestling shoes.

This match warrants a "dammmmn" from Smokey and Craig on Friday, and also a hearty Ron Simmons' "DAMN!"

Brutus tossed one guy over the ropes to the outside. They pummeled their opponents from pilar to post, and they manhandled them. They were throwing leather, and the Creed brothers ate up their foes. Complete squash. Possibly more brutal than a Steiner Brothers squash from back in the day. Pure dominance. Creeds are a hoss team.

Ember Moon in a post-match interview teased a change is coming for herself.

Hit Row cut promos on Legado del Fantasma. Great stuff. This continues to be a hot act. Dear WWE: please don't screw it up.

NXT Women's Tag Team Champions Io Shirai & Zoey Stark defeated  Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter to retain their titles

Shirai pinned Stark to retain their titles. Although Shirai and Stark did not get along very well, they worked together at the finish to win the match.

Shirai tried to do all the work by herself during the match, as she basically ignored Stark. That would eventually backfire on Shirai when the babyfaces made a blind tag. Carter and Catanzaro with tandem moves, but the challengers' hope was soon dashed by Shirai.

Stark finally tagged herself in, and Shirai was not happy. Stark whipped Carter into a corner, causing Carter to collide with Shirai. Stark charged forward and ran into her own partner. Shirai went sailing off the apron.

Carter with am armlock DDT on Stark. Carter held Catanzaro on her shoulders for a double-team move that led to a splash off the ropes. Shirai made a save with a missile dropkick. Stark capitalized by delivering her signature modified GTS. Stark tagged Shirai, and Shirai climbed the turnbuckle. Shiari with a moonsault press, and she covered Catanzaro for a pinfall.

Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolan and Jacy Jayne ran in after the match to attack Catanzaro and Carter. The heels stomped on them, and the babyfaces were laid out. Rose was wearing a protective mask on her face, which sells an angle from last week.

Bachelor Party

Dexter Lumis and Johnny Gargano were riding in a limo heading to Lumis' bachelor party. Gargano was very salty. He vowed to pay for nothing. Luckily for him, the limo stopped to pick up Cameron Grimes, who vowed to take this party "TO THE MOON!" Odyssey Jones and Drake Maverick were also in the limo, along with the infamous zombie referee.

Grimes handed out cash money to everyone. He made a truce with Lumis, and they shook hands like the cool kids do. Off the group went to party. They had a go-kart race where Grimes put up $30,000 in prize money. Meanwhile, Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae were spying on them. Gargano won the race.

Next the party moved on to ax throwing. They all threw axes with varying levels of success. Lumis helped show Gargano the proper form, and they were bonding well. So well they shot each other a thumbs up.

The party goers went to a bounce house, and then they played Laser Tag. Lumis helped his team win by choking out the geeks on the opposing team. They all celebrated when they won. Somewhere along the way we find out the zombie ref is Canadian, eh. Gargano reluctantly high fived Lumis, and a friendship is born. Hartwell and LeRae ran in excited that everyone is now on the same page.

A teaser plugged the in-ring debut of Mei Ying, which is up next. But first, we have a skit.

Franky Monet was with Jessi Kamea when Robert Stone ran in with big news. Stone talked to Regal, and booked for next week is Raquel Gonzalez defending her NXT Women's Championship against Monet.

Mei Ying (with Boa) defeated Virginia Ferry

Ying won a quick squash. She began her onslaught with a chop to the throat. Ferry countered a chocke with a jawjacker, but Ying rocked Ferry with a kick. More chops to the throat, and Ying stomped on Ferry. Ying applied a Tongan Death Grip like she was Meng, and Ferry's shoulders were pinned to the mat for a three count.

Tommaso Ciampa, Kyle O'Reilly and LA Knight all had separate promos building up the fatal four way that takes place next Tuesday.

Announced for next week on NXT:

  • Fatal four way number one contender's match: Ciampa vs. O'Reilly vs. Knight vs. Dunne
  • NXT Women's Championship: Raquel Gonzalez defends against Franky Monet
  • In-Dex wedding

NXT Tag Team Champions MSK (Nash Carter & Wes Lee) defeated Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan (with Pete Dunne & Ridge Holland) to retain their titles

Lee pinned Carter to retain the titles. Good match, but nothing off the charts. Ridge Holland and Pete Dunne turned on their stablemates after the match.

Burch started the match in his return bout after coming back from injury, and Burch was super aggressive. MSK got to shine before the show cut to a picture-in-picture commercial break.

Hot tag to Wes Lee, and Vic Joseph on commentary called Lee a "house of fire" before he was actually a house of fire. Lee was nevertheless eventually on fire. So was Carter. They got a near fall on the challengers. Carter springboarded into an Asai moonsault. He went for a swanton, but Lorcan got his knees up.

Lorcan with a chop block on Carter, and Lorcan applied an ankle lock. Lee tried to make a save, but Burch trapped Lee in a crossface. The defending champs were both caught in submission holds, but they escaped the clutches of the heel team.

The match turned into a melee. Lorcan missed on a charge, and he was hiptossed into a corner. Lorcan then fell victim to MSK's Hart Attack/Blockbuster combo finisher, and Lee covered Lorcan to retain the titles.

Dunne and Holland turn on Burch and Lorcan by attacking them. They laid out their now former stablemates. Dunne and Holland went to leave, but they turned around so Holland to deliver more punishment. The show closed with a cliffhanger of Dunne and Holland now being a duo to fear.
