WWE SmackDown live results: Money in the Bank go-home show

Date: June 13, 2017
Location: Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, LA

The Big Takeaway --

Not much happened on the go-home show for Money in the Bank. Randy Orton laid out Jinder Mahal with an RKO, Zack Ryder returned, Sami Zayn pinned Baron Corbin again in the 6-man tag main event, and the show ended with Shinsuke Nakamura holding up the MITB briefcase.

Show Recap --

The SmackDown intro starts with Jinder Mahal. Chris Jericho is still featured in there as well. The announcers plugged the 6-man tag match, 8-man tag match, and the face-off between Mahal and Randy Orton.

New Day came out to start and they had a live band play them to the ring here in New Orleans. The band is called The Soul Rebels and Kofi Kingston gave them a shout out. Xavier Woods said they would beat the Usos for the titles and bring them back to New Orleans for WrestleMania.

Woods also made a joke about The Usos being an off, off, off, off, off-broadway version of Straight Outta Compton, so that brought out the champs, but they were quickly interrupted by Breezango. Breeze said the Usos’ day one was “G” for “gross.” The Colons came out next and called the Fashion Police the worst detectives ever and questioned their fashion sense. Big E cut them off and now it’s time for the match. This was the entire opening segment. Not a great start.

8-man tag match: The New Day (w/Big E) & Breezango defeated The Usos & The Colons

Kingston had the match won over the Usos with Trouble in Paradise but the cover was broken up. New Day picked up the win anyway with a combo double footstomp (Woods nailed the footstomp with Primo hunched over Kingston’s knee). Nothing match that managed to go almost 15 minutes and through a commercial break. SmackDown was 1/4 finished by the time this was all done.

“Free agent” John Cena returns on July 4.

Backstage, AJ Styles warned Shinsuke Nakamura that Sami Zayn gets a little overexcited. Zayn showed up right then, of course. Styles was right, Zayn went overboard trying to talk strategy. Nakamura wasn’t sure what to make of him. When Zayn finally left, Nakamura told Styles, “I like him,” which got a laugh from the crowd.

Elsewhere, Mojo Rawley owned up to his loss last week and put over Mahal as being a different guy lately. Rawley said he would bounce back and the best has yet to come. Suddenly, Zack Ryder showed up behind him with a big smile. He said they had unfinished business as a team and they embraced.

Non-title match: Women’s champion Naomi defeated Tamina

Lana made her way to the ring before the match started, wearing what looks like the same dress as last week. A few fans chanted, “We want Rusev.” Naomi won in 5 minutes with a split-legged moonsault. Tamina looked bad and struggled her way through Naomi’s comeback.

Lana attacked Naomi afterwards and crushed her with a sitout spinebuster.

Jinder Mahal/Randy Orton Confrontation

Mahal and the Singh Brothers came out first. Mahal demanded the crowd to get to their feet and show him respect. He said he would beat Randy Orton in his hometown in front of Cowboy Bob and other WWE legends. Mahal called Orton a coward for not coming down as soon as he mentioned his father. Mahal called this the era of the Modern Day Maharajah. He spoke in Punjabi which brought some “USA” chants.

Orton’s music hit, so Mahal sent the Singh brothers up the ramp. Orton, in his wrestling gear, appeared from behind and nailed Mahal with an RKO. The Singh brothers checked on Mahal as Orton posed in the crowd.

Kevin Owens approached Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler in the locker room. Owens doesn’t like either of them, but noted they can either work together and take out their opponents, or they can trade moves on each other and head into MITB worse off than before. Owens left as the other two considered his advice.

Orton told Renee Young that the time for talking was over and he would take back what’s his in St. Louis.

Charlotte Flair defeated Natalya

They showed a replay of Charlotte powerbombing Natalya through a table two weeks ago. Natalya marched out to the ring with a purpose. One of the facts to appear during Charlotte’s entrance was, “The Queen of WWE.”

Charlotte barely hit a moonsault and Natalya kicked out. Natalya followed with a sitout powerbomb for a nearfall. Charlotte fought out of a Sharpshooter and nailed a big boot for two. Charlotte then kicked Natalya's leg out of her leg and hit Natural Selection for the win.

Fashion Files: Sweet Victory

Fandango found Breeze laid out in their office. Breeze said he was attacked by two monsters with greasy hair, super dry skin, and two arms. Fandango drew a sketch as Breeze described his attackers. They left together and the camera revealed Fandango’s sketch was of two stick figures.

They aired a video of a young fan getting to meet the wrestlers before the show. He also got to run down to the ring as the wrestlers cheered him on, and he received a custom WWE title belt from Stephanie McMahon.

Lana told Dasha Fuentes she doesn’t care what people think of her. She will shock the world and crush Naomi on Sunday.

Zack Ryder, Mojo Rawley, Jinder Mahal and Shinsuke Nakamura will be on Talking Smack with Renee Young and JBL.

6-man tag match: Sami Zayn, AJ Styles & Shinsuke Nakamura defeated U.S. champion Kevin Owens, Baron Corbin & Dolph Ziggler

The heels worked over Nakamura briefly until he made a hot tag to Styles. Styles hit Ziggler with a fireman’s carry neckbreaker but Owens broke up the cover, so Zayn took him out with a flip dive. Corbin hit Zayn with Deep Six but Nakamura broke up the cover heading to commercial.

The crowd chanted for Zayn who was being worked over after the break. He hit a nice Blue Thunder Bomb on Owens but Corbin cut him off before he could tag out. Zayn caught him with a hard clothesline and cleared the ring of his opponents. He tried to make a hot tag but his partners were yanked off the apron. Styles caught Corbin with a forearm and Zayn nailed Corbin with a Helluva Kick for the win.

Ziggler immediately attacked Styles and Zayn afterwards. Owens and Ziggler used a ladder on both men as well. Corbin jumped in pushed Owens into Ziggler, then attacked them with the ladder. Corbin set up the ladder and began climbing it for some reason, but Nakamura pushed the ladder down and hit Corbin with Kinshasa. Finally, Nakamura climbed the ladder and (eventually) grabbed the briefcase.
