WWE SmackDown live results: Royal Rumble go-home show

SmackDown's go-home show for the Royal Rumble takes place tonight from the WWE ThunderDome.

At Sunday's pay-per-view, Universal Champion Roman Reigns defends his title against Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing match. The final build to that match will feature Reigns and Owens engaging in a war of words tonight. WWE has announced that Michael Cole will sit down with Reigns and Owens ahead of Sunday's PPV.

Last week's SmackDown ended with Owens putting Reigns through the announce table with a pop-up powerbomb. The previous week, Owens was revealed as Reigns' new Royal Rumble challenger when WWE official Adam Pearce found a way to get out of the match. After being unhappy with Pearce's recent decision-making, Reigns had forced Pearce into winning a gauntlet match to become the number one contender to the Universal title.

Bianca Belair vs. Bayley is set for tonight's show. Last week, Belair defeated Bayley in an obstacle course challenge but was attacked by Bayley after.

Belair and Bayley will both be entrants in Sunday's women's Royal Rumble match.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

SmackDown started with Daniel Bryan already in the ring leading the fans in the Yes chant. He welcomed everyone to SmackDown and Royal Rumble weekend. Bryan's excited for the Rumble this Sunday. He's accomplished a lot in his career, but he never won the Royal Rumble before.

Bryan noted that winning the Rumble means being in the main event of WrestleMania. He's done it before, so nobody knows better than him. Bryan doesn't know how many Royal Rumbles he has left in his career.

Bryan's ready for the Rumble thanks to Chad Gable and Otis' training. He said his hips are loose, and he's ready for the Rumble.

Suddenly, Raw's AJ Styles music hit, and he walked out with Omos. Bryan noted that both brands participate in the Rumble, but he doesn't know why Styles is here tonight.

Omos noted Styles is on SmackDown because of the quarterly brand-to-brand invitational. It's been a while since anyone mentioned the brand-to-brand invitational.

Styles mocked Bryan's suit and said he doesn't look ready to compete in the Rumble. He noted Bryan seems like a guy with one foot out the door. Styles wondered if Bryan is a GM again.

Bryan then challenged Styles to match later tonight. Styles noted he's getting ready for the Rumble by beating everyone on Raw. He accepted the challenged and shoved Bryan to the ground.
