WWE NXT ratings down for first of two Syfy episodes

Source: Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics

With the show airing on Syfy, last night's NXT averaged 520,000 viewers, down 26.7 percent from last week.

Syfy is a much weaker cable station than USA Network, so that's the type of drop that was to be expected. NXT also faced competition from the Olympics, which aired on NBC as well as in NXT's usual spot on USA Network.

In the 18-49 demo, NXT drew a 0.12 rating, down 40 percent from the previous week.

The overall audience is the lowest NXT has ever done, while the 18-49 rating matches the low that NXT has set several times, most recently on February 10.

As compared to the same week last year, which isn't really fair in this case, NXT was down 26.5 percent in overall audience and down 33.3 percent in the 18-49 demo.

NXT will again air on Syfy next week before returning to USA Network on Tuesday, August 10.

As compared to the 10-week average prior to this week, as shown in the chart below, NXT's overall audience was down 30.8 percent. The 18-49 demo number was down 29.4 percent from the average over the same time period:
