UFC on ESPN+ 19 live results: Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Michelle Waterson

The Octagon returns to Tampa for the first time in over three years with a strawweight headliner that could determine the first challenger for new UFC Women's Strawweight Champion Weili Zhang.

Former UFC Women's Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk tries to shake off a week of distractions regarding her weight cut as she takes on Michelle Waterson in the five-round main event. Jedrzjeczyk returns to action for the first time since December as she looks to make it two straight wins at 115 pounds and earn a shot to regain the championship she held for almost three years. Waterson looks to make it four straight wins and earn a long-awaited UFC title shot.

In the co-main event, Cub Swanson looks to end his four-fight losing skid when he battles the undefeated Kron Gracie in featherweight action. Also on the main card is a welterweight bout between Niko Price and James Vick, as well as a women's strawweight bout that sees Mackenzie Dern fight for the first time since giving birth as she takes on Amanda Ribas.

> JJ Aldrich (7-3, 3-2 UFC) vs. Lauren Mueller (5-2, 1-2 UFC)
Women's Flyweights

Mueller pushing the action early but Aldrich more active with punches and kicks. Aldrich clinches on the cage and then gets a takedown with 90 seconds left. Mueller got up quickly though. Mueller got a late takedown and took Aldrich's back but Aldrich managed to get up before the buzzer. 10-9 Aldrich

Mueller stuffed on an early takedown attempt. Aldrich landed almost twice as many strikes as her in round 1 and early into round 2. Mueller with a nice head kick after a punch combo rocks Aldrich 2 minutes in and she's got a bleeding nose. Mueller still controllling the pace in round 2 and Aldrich seems to have slowed down a bit. Mueller almost stalking Aldrich in the last minute with Aldrich's corner trying to get her to pick it up. Mueller with a nice punch combo and pins her against the cage but Aldrich gets away. 10-9 Mueller, 19-19

Aldrich out firing to start round 3 and rocks Mueller, backing her up to the fence. By about the 1:30 mark, Mueller regained Octagon control but she was clearly hurt from the punches of Aldrich. Both corners told their fighter that they needed this round to win and whomever was more active would take it. Mueller seems hesitant to get into the range of Aldrich as every time she lands anything, she has 3 coming back at her and, in fact, Aldrich with a 22-7advantage in significant strikes landed through 3 1/2 minutes. Mueller picking up the pace in the last minute, though, landing a nice combo that hurts Aldrich. Aldrich answers back with one of her own with 30 seconds left. Both ladies landing hard shots in the last 15 seconds. 10-9 Aldrich, 29-28 overall

> Marvin Vettori (13-4-1, 3-2-1 UFC) vs. Andrew Sanchez (11-4, 4-2 UFC)
Middleweights

Vettori landing a lot of punches early and Sanchez reeling 30 seconds in. Vettori with a nice knee to the chin after landing more punches but Sanchez is weathering the early onslaught. Vettori with another really nice combo, mixing in a knee to the body at 2;15. Sanchez throwing mostly leg kicks, which are landing. Vettori with a knee to the body, followed up by punches at 3:15. Vettori rocks Sanchez with more punches but he comes out off of the cage smiling and taunting Vettori. Vettori with a 29-4 advantage in significant strikes landed through 4 minutes. Sanchez with a weak takedown attempt and eats more punches with 15 seconds left. 10-9 Vettori

Sanchez' corner tells him "good round" and that's what we expected. Interesting advice. Sanchez is a little more active coming out for the 2nd. Commentators speculating that maybe it was a "rope-a-dope" strategy for Sanchez. Sanchez landing a lot more leg kicks early but Vettori still with punches and lands a really hard body kick 90 seconds in. Sanchez with a nice punch combo 2 minutes in. Rd 2 significant strikes landed are 16-15 for Vettori through 3:15. Sanchez with a takedown attempt at 3:45 but stuffed. Vettori follows that with a nice punch combo. Vettori with a punch/knee combo with 15 seconds left. Close round but should go to Vettori 10-9, and 20-18 overall

Sanchez lands a nice spinning back fist 30 seconds into round 3. Vettori still throwing, and landing nice punch combos. Vettori takes the back standing at 1:15. Sanchez breaks away quickly. Vettori with a nice punch combo at 1:45. Sanchez answers back with a kick combo. Vettori with a nice punch combo, punctuated by a hard body shot that clearly hurts Sanchez 3:00 in. Vettori with an 82-43 advantage in signficant strikes landed, including 25-16 in round 3 with 30 seconds left. Sanchez comes on strong at the end with some nice kicks but not enough to steal it. 10-9 Vettori, 30-27 overall

> Miguel Baeza (7-0, 0-0 UFC) vs. Hector Aldana (4-2, 0-2 UFC)
Welterweights

Aldana pushing the pace early but both guys hesitant to throw strikes. Baeza lands some nice leg kicks 90 seconds in. Baeza with a nice kick combo at 2:00. Baeza nearly knocks Aldana down with a leg kick at 2:30. Aldana with a nice punch combo at 3;00. Aldana charging forward and backs Baeza to the fence but doesn't really land anything with 1 minute left. Baeza with a power takedown at the end of the round to cinch it. 10-9 Baeza

Baeza had a 13-4 advantage in significant strikes landed in round 1. Aldana with a kick/punch combo 45 seconds into round 2. Baeza still landing leg kicks and there is some swelling on the lead leg of Aldana. Baeza with a knockdown off of a leg kick and finishes Aldana off with punches on the ground.

> Marlon Vera (14-5-1, 8-4 UFC) vs. Andre Ewell (15-5, 2-1 UFC)
Bantamweights

Vera with a takedown attempt 15 seconds in but Ewell defends it. Ewell with a nice punch combo at 1:00. Another at 1:15 from Ewell. Vera landing occasional leg kicks. Vera secures a standing head and arm choke and uses it to take Ewell down. Ewell ends up on top but Vera holds on to the choke. He finally gives it up and Ewell maintains top position at 2:15. Ewell with punches to the body. Vera ties him up with a body lock from his back. Vera with some nice elbows to the head from his back. More body punches from Ewell. Ref warns them to work at 3:30. Ewell to his feet and backs off, forcing Vera up at 4:15. Ewell with a nice punch combo with 15 seconds left. 10-9 Ewell but close 

Vera controlling the pace early in round 2. Loud CHITO chants from the crowd for Vera. Vera doing a better job of evading the strikes of Ewell and landing singles shots of his own but no sustained offence through the first 2  minutes. Ewell really looking tired miway through the 2nd. Ewell with a nice punch combo at 3:00. Vera again with the standing head and arm choke and landing knees to the heg and body. He gives it up but maintains clinch control. Vera with a 23-15 advantage in significant strikes landed in round 2 with 30 seconds left. Vera rocks Ewell with punches and a hard knee right before the end of the round to clinch it. 10-9 Vera, 19-19 overall

Vera lands some nice knees to the chin 30 seconds in. Vera controlling the pace and Ewell with his back to the cage early in round 3. Ewell starting to miss badly on a lot of his punches. Vera landing a lot of leg and body kicks. Vera clinches up on the cage and landing moreknees. Vera backs off and rocks Ewell with punches. Ewell answers back with some nice jabs but he looks like he's moving in slow motion. Vera with a standing guillotiine and uses it to to take Ewell down. Vera with hard elbows and punches to the head. Vera postures up and lands more punches and the ref steps in to stop it.

That was Vera's 5th straight win by finish and 7th overall, tying him for 2nd in UFC bantamweight history behind former champion TJ Dillashaw, who has 8. He should move into the top 15, and maybe top 10, after that. 

> Deiveson Figueiredo (#3, 16-1, 5-1 UFC) vs. Tim Elliott (#6, 15-8-1, 4-6 UFC)
Flyweights

Elliott with Octagon control to start. Nice kick/punch combo from Elliott. Figueiredo with a nice punch combo to rock Elliott. Lots of deking from both guys but not a ton of strikes thrown in the first 2 minutes. Elliott with a punch combo at 2:45. Elliott with a takedown but gets caught in a guillotine and taps quickly.

Figueiredo called out Joseph Benavides and Henry Cejudo after the fight. Benavides is the #1 contender and a training partner of the man he just beat so that fight makes a lot of sense. 

> Max Griffin (15-6, 3-4 UFC) vs. Alex Morono (16-5 1 NC, 5-2 1 NC UFC)
Welterweights

Morono with a punch/kick combo 45 seconds in after a bit of a feeling out process from both guys. Griffin lands a hard right that rattles Morono at 1:45. Griffin with a hard leg kick that buckles Morono at 2:15. Punch combo from Morono at 3:00. Almost the whole round in the center of the Octagon with neither guy establishing control or any sort of sustained offence. Morono with a punch/kick combo right before the buzzer. Very close round. 10-9 Morono

Significant strikes landed are 44-29 for Morono. Griffin more active to start round 2 but it's more of the same stand up fighting in the center of the Octagon. Griffin lands a hard punch combo that rocks Morono. Morono grabs his neck in a choke but Griffin breaks free. Morono with a nice combo at 4:00, finishing with a hard overhand right. Punch/kick combo from Morono and Griffin is down at 4:30. Morono to the ground with him, landing punches. Griffin up. Morono all over him with punches. Griffin firing back but in serious trouble. Spinning back fists from both guys landed seconds apart. 10-8 Morono, 20-17 overall

Griffin pushing forward to start the 3rd as he obviously knows he's down. Nice punch combo from Griffin at 1:15. Another nice combo from Griffin at 1:45. His corner told him he had to be more aggressive this round and so far he's following that advice. Griffin with a takedown at 2:15. Morono to his feet without taking much damage though. Griffin controlling a cage clinch. Bodyslam from Griffin and he moves into half guard. Morono up quickly but Griffin controlling a cage clinch. Another takedown at 3:45 from Griffin. Griffin with punches to the body and the head. Morono with a 98-66 advatage in strikes landed but Griffin has the advantage in the 3rd as well as the takedowns. Another takedown with 15 seconds left and Griffin lands punches to the head as the round ends. 10-9 Griffin, 29-27 Morono overall

> Thomas Gifford (17-8 2 NC, 0-1 UFC) vs. Mike Davis (7-2, 0-1 UFC)
Lightweights

Davis opens with a nice punch combo. Davis also throwing leg kicks early. Gifford dives for a leg ala Ryan Hall but misses pretty badly. Davis really targeting the body with his punches early. Gifford lands a nice punch combo but Davis answers back with twice as many punches almost immediately. Great punch/kick combo from Davis at 2:30 but he's already checking the clock, which usually means a fighter is tired. Great punch exchange at 3:00 with both guys landing hard shots. Another good punch/kick combo from Davis at 3:45, who has thrown over 80 strikes already. Another great punch combo followed by a knee from Davis at 4:15. Davis backs him up to the fence and landing all kinds of punches and knees. Gifford down and Davis landing punches on the ground but Gifford is staying in and even smiling. Hard punches from Davis to finish the round and the ref looked very close to stopping it. 10-8 Davis

Gifford dives for a leg 1:15 in but misses and Davis lets him back up. Davis with a 78-40 advantage in significant strikes landed. Davis still landing shots but not nearly as frequently as in round 1. Flying knee from Davis followed by punches at 2:15. Davis bleeding heavily from cuts on his face. Hard punch combo rocks Gifford. Gifford tries to pull guard and ends up on his back eating punches and elbows. Davis stands up and lets Gifford to his feet at 4:15. Gifford still throwing, and landing, though late in the round. Davis with a great punch combo that backs up Gifford to the fence right before the buzzer. 10-9 Davis, 20-17 overall

Gifford has taken 77 strikes to the head and 40 to the body through 2 rounds. Gifford controlling the pace early in round 3 though. Both guys are a little slower but still throwing shots in round 3. Gifford may even be landing more. Gifford very close on a takedown attempt 2 minutes in but Davis stays up. Punch combo from Gifford at 2:45. Gifford stuffed on a takedown attempt and ends up on his back. Davis landing punches to the head and body. Davis stands up and lets Gifford up at 3:30. Davis drops Gifford with a leg kick but backs off, forcing him to stand. Gifford is continually diving for the legs and missing because he doesn't want to stand. Davis drops Gifford with a punch and he falls face first to the mat. Michael Bisping on commentary was all over the ref for not stopping the fight and then screamed and said "are you happy now" when Gifford fell face first.

> Ryan Spann (16-5, 2-0 UFC) vs. Devin Clark (10-3, 4-3 UFC)
Light Heavyweights

Clark with a takedown 30 seconds in. Spann with a guillotine choke on the way in but it doesn't look very tight. Clark escapes but Spann gets to his feet at 1:15. Spann controlling the cage clinch. Separation at 2:00. Spann controlling the pace but Clark gets another takedown at 2:45. Spann right up. Nice punch combo from Clark at 3:15. Spann just stalking Clark but not throwing much of anything. Crowd getting restless at the end of the round and the announcers even point out the lack of action. Punch combo from Spann at 4:45. 10-9 Clark

Spann told his corner he thought he won the round and his corner said "that's good you think that but I don't think the judges will". Spann controlling the pace again in round 2 but again not doing much. Crowd booing the lack of engagement. As that happens, Spann rocks Clark with a left. Spann landing a lot of punches and then secures a standing choke. He drags him to the mat and on the way down, Clark taps.

> Eryk Anders (12-4, 4-4 UFC) vs. Gerald Meerschaert (29-11, 5-3 UFC)
Middleweights

Anders pushing the action to start and lands his first punch combo 30 seconds in. Meerschaert with a nice counter punch combo at 1:00. Meerschaert goes down after eating some punches at 2:00 but Anders stays on his feet, forcing Meerschaert up. Anders rocks Meerschaerts with a punch and he responds with a weak takedown attempt at 2:30. Anders very patient and measured with his strikes, most of which are landing hard. Meerschaert with a big well beside his left eye. Kick/punch combo from Anders rocks Meerschaert at the end of the round. 10-9 Anders

Anders advancing to start round 2. Anders shoves Meerschaert down at 45 seconds but then just lets him up. Leg kick followed by a punch combo from Meerschaert at 1:30. Meerschaert with a punch combo at 3:15. Crowd starting to boo as both guys are pretty tentative. Meerschaert with a 22-14 advantage in significant strikes landed in round 2. Anders with a nice punch combo with 15 seconds left. Anders rocks Meerschaert with a counter punch right before the buzzer. 10-9 Meerschaert, 19-19 overall

Anders once again establishes Octagon control in the final round. Anders rocks Meerschaert with an uppercut 2 minutes in. Meerschaert answers wtih a punch combo but then gets knocked backward with a hard left from Anders. Meerschaert also targeting the body with kicks that are clearly affecting Anders. Punch combo from Anders at 3:00. Meerschaert pushing the pace in the last 2 minutes. Meerschaert rocks Anders with a punch after he misses one and Anders is in trouble. Anders with a slight advantage in significant strikes landed in round 3 but that last punch in the final minute will probably carry more weight with the judges. 10-9 Meerschaert, 29-28 overall

> Matt Frevola (7-1-1, 1-1-1 UFC) vs. Luis Pena (7-1, 3-1 UFC)
Lightweights

Frevola starts out firing with punches and kicks and the crowd explodes as he is originally from Tampa. Pena just trying to stay out of range while figuring out the timing. Frevola with a nice punch combo and then gets a slam takedown at 2:15. Pena right up without taking any damage. Flying knee from Pena. Frevola with another takedown attempt but stuffed at 2:45. Frevola with a suplex takedown and right into side control. Pena has a weird kind of triangle though, which is difficult to secure from that position. Ross rolls over into top position though. Frevola escapes and to his feet. Clinch on the cage with Pena in control at 4:00. Pena takes the back standing and then takes Frevola down. Pena landing punches to the head but Frevola gets to his feet. Frevola escapes but Pean chasing him down and landing a lot of punches late in the round. Frevola rocked by the punches late and Pena may have stolen the round. 10-9 Pena

Pena pushing forward to start round 2. Pena lands a hard punch to to the left cheek that opens a cut. Pena with a flying knee that rocks Frevola 30 seconds in. He goes for a desparation takedown. Pena with a Kimura attempt on the ground. Frevola defends it but he's still rocked and Pena landing hard knees to the head. Frevola lands a punch combo at 1:30. Pena with a 35-5 advantage in head strikes landed. Crowd still behind Frevola with chants but he's getting beaten pretty soundly here. Both guys fall after landing shots but their opponent lets them up within seconds of each other. Frevola with a takedown attempt at 3:45. He gets him down but Pena with a Kimura attempt and also setting up a triangle from his back. Frevola escapes both and still on top, landing punches to the body. Pena stands up but Frevola takes hiim down again. Pena with a guillotine choke and sweeps into mount, landing punches as the round ends. 10-9 Pena, 20-18

Frevola's corner tells him that he's "killing him on the ground, killing him on the feet. You're going to win". Not so sure about that. Pena with Octagon control to start the third. Frevola with a nice punch combo a minute in. Pena landing jabs from distance. Frevola with a nice punch combo that rocks Pena. Another combo from Frevola drops Pena at 2:30. He gets up but Frevola takes hiim down. Pena right up without taking damage. Frevola with another punch combo at 3:00 and controlling a cage clinch. Pena break free quickly. Pena with a 59-36 advantage in significant strikes landed but Frevola up 18-10 in the 3rd. Pena stalking Frevola in the final minute, landing jabs from distance. Frevola stuffed on a takedown attempt with 15 seconds left. 10-9 Frevola, 29-28 Pena overall

> Mackenzie Dern (7-0, 2-0 UFC) vs. Amanda Ribas (7-1, 1-0 UFC)
Women's Strawweights

Ribas rocks Dern with a punch 30 seconds in. Punch combo from Ribas at 1:15. Dern having a hard time getting within range to land anything. Nice punch exchange at 2:30. Dern follows up with a takedown but Ribas right up. Body kick and a punch combo by Ribas. Ribas rocks Dern with a punch combo and then throws Dern down after Dern attempts a takedown. Dern tying up the body from her back but Ribas doing a good job evading submission attempts. Ribas not doing any damage of her own though. Dern landing punches to the body and head from her back and also landing kicks to the back. 10-9 Ribas

Ribas lands a couple nice counter punches in the first minute. Ribas with a 21-7 advantage in significant strikes landed. Dern stuffed on a takedown attempt at 2:15. Nice punch exchange at 2:45. Nice punch combo from Ribas at 3:30. Dern stuffed on another takedown attempt and Ribas ends up on top at 4:15. Ribas stands up and backs off, forcing Dern up. Ribas with a really nice punch combo right before the buzzer. 10-9 Ribas, 20-18

Dern ends up on her back after missing a punch early but Ribas backs off, forcing her up. Punch combo from Ribas at 1:15. Dern stuffed on a takedown and Ribas on top, landing punches and elbows to the head and then stands up, forcing Dern up. Ribas doing a good job of staying out of Dern's range on the feet so she can't land much of anything. Hard punch combo from Ribas rocks Dern at 3:00. Significant strikes landed are 67-18 for Ribas and the fight has been almost entirely on the feet. Ribas pouring it on in the last 15 seconds to cinch the fight. 10-9 Ribas, 30-27 overall

Andrew Glenn, who was originally scheduled to ref the next fight, was pulled and replaced. Glenn had officiated the Thomas Gifford fight earlier tonight so that's likely the reason, after lettting him take so much punishment. It was a decision of the Florida commission and this was actually brought up on the broadcast.

Welterweights

Price pushing the action to start but Price knocks him down 45 seconds in and all over him with punches on the ground. Vick trying to set up some sort of submission on his back but Price defends that. Crowd chanting NIKO as he's a Florida native. Vick gets to his feet and then takes Price down, landing punches to the head. Price landed an upkick from his back that knocked Vick out cold.

> Cub Swanson (24-11, 9-7 UFC) vs. Kron Gracie (5-0, 1-0 UFC)
Featherweights

Both guys keeping their distance early. Kron landing more but neither guy landing anything significant in the first half of the round. Swanson with a punch combo at 2:45. Swanson targeting the body with punches and landing a really nice shot at 3:45. Gracie with a punch combo that rocks Swanson at 4:00. Nice punch exchange at 4:15. Swanson bleeding from a cut on his nose. Swanson with a hard body kick right before the buzzer. 10-9 Gracie but close

Nice punch combo at 1:15 and Swanson again targeting the body, having landed 13 body strikes so far. Gracie attempts to clinch on the cage but Swanson breaks free at 1:45. Gracie tries to jump guard but Swanson backs off. Gracie bleeding from a cut on the nose as well. Swanson falls after missing a punch but gets up before Gracie can get to the ground. Gracie tries to dive for the legs but Swanson escapes at 2:30. Swanson landing a lot of counter punches. Nice punch exchange at 3:45. Swanson with a cut beside his right eye at the end of the round. 10-9 Swanson, 19-19

Gracie pushing the action to start round 3 and lands a hard shot. Strikes landed are 79-79 early in the 3rd. Gracie clinches up in the center and tries to take Swanson down but he breaks free. Punch combo from Swanson at 1:15. Gracie pulls guard and throws an upkick that just misses but Swanson backs off, forcing him up. Punch combo from Gracie. Gracie with a takedown attempt but blocked by Swanson. Gracie falls to his back and partially lands an upkick again but Swanson backs off again, forcing him up. Clinch in the center and Gracie lands punches to the body. Gracie landing uppercuts to the head from the clinch. Swanson with more body punches. Nice punch combo from Gracie. Both fighters over 100 strikes landed now. Swanson with a punch combo at 4:00. Gracie stuffed on a takedown attempt at 4:15. Swanson stays in his guard. Gracie with kicks to the back. Gracie attempts a guillotine but Swanson to his feet. Swanson with a punch combo right before the buzzer. 10-9 Gracie and 29-28 overall but judging from my Twitter timeline, I'm in the minority on round 1 and it's likely Swanson's fight

 Women's Strawweights

Joanna throwing kicks to start. Waterson with a takedown attempt 30 seconds in but stuffed. Joanna ends up in control of a cage clinch. Waterson takes control at 1:15. Joanna landing knees to the body. They separate at 1:45 after Waterson lands a hard elbow. Punch/kick combo from Joanna at 2:15. Waterson with another takedown attempt and they end up in a cage clinch at 2:45. Joanna takes control quickly. Joanna landing occasional knees from the clinch but neither lady doing much damage. Joanna landing punches to the head while maintaining clinch control in the last minute. A couple of nice elbows to the head from Joanna at 4:45. One of those late elbows may have broken Waterson's nose as she was bleeding pretty heavily between rounds. Joanna throwing leg kicks early in round 2. Total strikes are 46-21 for Joanna. Waterson lands a nice head kick at 1:30. Waterson going to the high kicks more as the round progresses. Cage clinch with Waterson in control at 2:00. Joanna said she was fighting with a broken foot since the end of the 2nd round. She asked for a title fight. She said she's the real Queen and said she'd call Dana in a few minutes. She laughed about the fact she might not be able to party tonight with a broken foot. 

Waterson cried to start her post fight promo but the crowd picked her up. She said she's disappointed in herself but you have to push through it. Joanna hugged her and called her a warrior. She said she knows what she did wrong and she needs to work on that and push forward and come back stronger.
