Jerry Lawler & fiancee arrested for domestic assault, suspended by WWE

WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend Jerry Lawler and his girlfriend were arrested in East Memphis, TN, early Friday morning on domestic assault charges, resulting in WWE indefinitely suspending him.

According to police reports, the 66-year-old Lawler and 27-year-old Lauryn McBride had a disturbingly violent altercation at Lawler's home with both claiming the other caused them physical harm. Police couldn't determine who was the aggressor, so they arrested them both.

The two will be in court Monday, but no bond has been set.

Lawler spoke to WMC Action News 5 today about this via phone call where he discussed some aspects of the night, denying others, saying there's only issues between them when she drinks. The two have been together for five years.

Police first went to Lawler's house after a 911 hangup call. Lawler said that the two began arguing about McBride lying about her whereabouts earlier that evening.

From Newschannel 3 in Memphis:

"McBride claims Lawler struck her in the head and pushed her against a stove while Lawler claims McBride scratched him in the face, threw a candle at him and kicked him in the groin.

McBride also alleged that Lawler got an unloaded pistol, put it on the kitchen counter and told her to kill herself.

Lawler says McBride was intoxicated and claims McBride is the one who brought the pistol into the kitchen."

Lawler said he was trying to prevent McBride from driving.

The two were taken to a medical facility and then booked into Shelby County Jail around 1 a.m. Friday morning. It didn't take too long afterward for WWE to announce the news on its website and suspend Lawler.
