July 4 weekend WWE SmackDown draws series low ratings on Fox

The beginning of the July 4 holiday weekend didn't help Friday's WWE SmackDown as the show averaged 1.777 million viewers. a series low for the show on Fox. That's down 18.3 percent from last week and more than 140,000 fewer viewers than the previous low-water mark set on May 1.

The demo numbers weren't good either. In 18-34, SmackDown did a 0.2 rating. That's also the lowest the show has done on Fox and is down 33.3 percent from last week. The 18-49 demo number was a 0.4, down 20 percent and also the lowest number SmackDown has done on Fox.

However, it was a bad ratings night on all the networks with July 3 being a traditional travel day with not a lot of people watching TV. The 18-34 demo number tied for second on network TV, trailing only Dateline NBC. SmackDown was also second on the networks in 18-49, trailing Dateline NBC which had a 0.5 rating.

In terms of total viewers, Fox finished last among the major networks with the closest competition being ABC's 20/20 which aired two episodes that did 2.225 million and 2.116 million viewers, respectively.
