Women's title match announced for next week's WWE SmackDown

Bianca Belair will no longer be defending her SmackDown Women's Championship at Money in the Bank.

With Bayley injured, it was advertised going into tonight's SmackDown that a new Money in the Bank challenger for Belair would be revealed tonight. But it was announced that Belair will instead be defending her title against Carmella on next Friday's episode of SmackDown.

Next Friday's SmackDown is the first show in WWE's return to touring. It's taking place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas and is the go-home show for Money in the Bank. A fatal four-way match between Big E, Kevin Owens, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Seth Rollins is also set for the episode. Those are the four SmackDown wrestlers who will be taking part in this year's men's Money in the Bank ladder match.

Due to Carmella getting a title shot next Friday, she's been removed from this year's women's Money in the Bank ladder match. Liv Morgan is taking Carmella's spot in the ladder match.

Belair was originally scheduled to defend her SmackDown Women's Championship against Bayley in an I Quit match at Money in the Bank. WWE announced earlier today that Bayley will be out of action for approximately nine months due to suffering an injury during training.

The injury that Bayley suffered is believed to be a torn ACL.

Belair has been SmackDown Women's Champion since defeating Sasha Banks for the title in the main event of WrestleMania 37 night one this April.
