WWE announces Royal Rumble 2021 for January 31

WWE has officially confirmed the date of Royal Rumble 2021.

During tonight's TLC pay-per-view, it was announced that Royal Rumble 2021 will stream live on the WWE Network on Sunday, January 31. This will be the first WWE PPV of the new year.

Tonight's TLC event was the first WWE PPV to take place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. It was announced last month that -- starting with the December 11 episode of SmackDown -- Raw, SmackDown, and pay-per-views would be produced at Tropicana Field on closed sets with only essential personnel in attendance.

The ThunderDome had to move out of the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida due to the start of the upcoming NBA season.

This past January's Royal Rumble took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas. Drew McIntyre was the winner of the men's Royal Rumble match and Charlotte Flair was the winner of the women's Royal Rumble match. Both went on to win championships at WrestleMania 36. McIntyre defeated Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship, while Charlotte defeated Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women's Championship.
