WWE News: Daniel Bryan relinquishes Intercontinental title due to injury

Daniel Bryan

During the third hour of WWE RAW Monday, Daniel Bryan did an in-ring promo and relinquished the WWE Intercontinental title.

Bryan said he had an MRI last week and that "they don't know how long I'll be out" and that it could be weeks, months, or that he may never wrestle again -- the latter part nearly bringing Bryan to tears. He wasn't specific about the injury.

In his speech, a subdued but positive Bryan put over the fans and referenced being stripped of the WWE Championship a year ago due to injury. Bryan said that the fans deserved guys like Wade Barrett, Dolph Ziggler, and Dean Ambrose fighting over the title. The fans eventually chanted "Thank you Daniel" and he said "Thank you" before leaving the belt in the middle of the ring.

After going up the ramp, he led one last "Yes! Yes! Yes!" chant before heading to the back.

More on this tonight on Wrestling Observer Radio with Dave Meltzer & Bryan Alvarez.
