WWE NXT results: Samoa Joe vs. Sami Zayn; Eva Marie cuts a good promo!

NXT: Sami Zayn vs. Samoa Joe

The Big News: Finn Balor is still absent a top contender as Samoa Joe and Sami Zayn pinned each other.

Enzo Amore/Colin Cassady & American Alpha defeated NXT Tag Champions Dash & Dawson & Blake/Murphy

We are still in the University of Central Florida. To kick things off this week we have an 8-man tag featuring a certified G and bona fide stud teaming with his 7 foot tall friend and the hottest, arguably most popular team on NXT. Their opponents are the two teams that randomly won the tag team titles from out of nowhere last year. Jordan and Gable have new, much more colorful singlets.

Corey Graves said that despite being on a college campus Enzo and Cass “still can't speak English properly”. I should remind my least favorite announcer that NXT is normally at Full Sail UNIVERSITY.

Chad Gable and Scott Dawson started the match, which very quickly broke down into an 8-way free for all. The baby faces disposed of the heels and everyone got to breathe for 30 seconds as we went to commercial. In the ensuing 30 seconds the heels cut off Gable and we got the heat.

This was a really fun match. The baby faces make an excellent 4-man team. They wouldn't work as a stable, but as a semi-regular team they made for a fun group. They had the match won with Grand Amplitude on Dawson, but it got broken up. After sending Dash back out of the ring they won with the Rocket Launcher on Dawson.

- Deonna Purrazzo was interviewed about her match with Asuka tonight. She said she learned from being knocked out by Asuka last time. Dana and Emma walked in and said they run NXT. Asuka was lucky to beat the two of them and Purrazzo is pathetic if she thinks she can do what Dana and Emma couldn't.

Asuka vs. Deonna | NXT

Asuka defeated Deonna Purrazzo

The last time these two ladies sports entertained Asuka knocked her the bleep out. Maybe Asuka saw the women's gauntlet from that TNA ppv last month and was really angry?

Asuka kicked the hell out of Deonna and used a flying kneebar, but the brunette lady reached the ropes. Deonna then slapped Asuka in the face. Oh no, hope she paid up on her insurance. Deonna came off the ropes and got kicked right in the ribs. Ouch. Asuka used several submission holds, 3 spinning back fists and finished her off with a spin kick to the head.

- Eva Marie and Nia Jax cut a promo together. Nia said they attacked Bayley and Carmella last week because she would have had the title match had she been cleared for the battle royal. This was actually the best promo of Eva's career and she is...good....when working off someone else.

- It was then announced that next week it would be Bayley & Carmella vs Nia Jax & Eva Marie.

Tye Dillinger pinned Emo Alex Riley (w/RAGE)

So what makes Tye Dillinger a Perfect 10? Can he do a windmill from the free throw line? Or can he jump over a mascot while passing the ball under his legs? Or going between the legs from the free throw line? Or doing a crazy 360 windmill by taking the ball from a mascot rotating on a hover board? Well no matter what makes him the Perfect 10 he is still facing Emo Alex Riley.

After some chain wrestling Dillinger did a cartwheel. One last basketball reference. Michael Finlay once did a half assed cartwheel in the 1997 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, but Dillinger did an actual cartwheel. Riley gave himself a 1 when he got the heat. Maybe that was the number of people who cared about him on offense. Dillinger used an atomic drop, so Riley punched him in the face. However when Riley went for some sort of Full Nelson-type move, Dillinger won his first match in months with a roll up.

- Finn Balor was asked about Joe vs Zayn tonight, so, of course, he talked about Apollo Crews. He put Crews over and looks forward to facing him in the future. Of course he is also looking forward to facing the winner of Zayn-Joe.

- William Regal was in his office when Baron Corbin again demanded to be in the match. Mr. Regal reiterated that he lost the Triple Threat, so no. Baron Corbin believes in an eye for an eye. Does that mean he is going to make Sami Zayn and Samoa Joe tap out with a double submission hold?

In a #1 contender's match, Samoa Joe drew Sami Zayn

This match was slow. Very slow. So slow that you could go to the bathroom, come back and neither man has really broken a sweat yet. Joe stalked Zayn, kicking at his knee and was able to back him into the corner before taking over with his corner uranage. It built to Zayn making an explosive comeback, which was so hot, as compared to the start of the match, that it was hard to not get excited. Zayn tried three times to life Joe up, but succeeded with the Blue Thunder Bomb on the fourth attempt.

Both men hit their medium “big moves” out of nowhere, but what was killing the match for me was the referee was pulling up after the two count, before either man kicked out. The fans didn't seem to notice, though.

Zayn went for the Helluva Kick, but Joe turned it into the Coquina Clutch. He had to break it, however, since they were in the ropes. They did the HHH-Shawn Michaels finish. Zayn got out of a Muscle Buster and hit the Helluva Kick. When Joe fell down, Zayn fell down on top of him, but both men's shoulders were down. On top of that Joe's right arm was over Zayn, even though his shoulders were also down.

The referee had no choice but to declare it a draw. He explained what happened to Mr. Regal, who had come down to investigate. Sami and Joe argued with Regal and the referee as he explained the decision.

That does it for this week! What happens from here? Who knows. But what I do know is tune in next week and until then, make sure to say your vitamins and take your prayers!
