WWE SmackDown ratings up for post-Extreme Rules episode

Despite the return of live sports in the form of Major League Baseball, overnight ratings for SmackDown on Fox saw the show's audience increase to an average of 1.971 million viewers, up 4.1 percent from last week. It was the highest number for SmackDown since June.

The opening hour averaged 1.985 million viewers and fell only 1.5 percent in the second hour to 1.956 million, a better than usual audience retention. However, it was the lowest audience total among the major networks.

In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown averaged a 0.5 rating, up 11.1 percent from last week. That beat everything else on the major networks. In 18-34, SmackDown averaged a 0.25 rating, up 25 percent from last week. That was second among the networks with CBS's Greatest #AtHome Videos topping that category with a 0.3 rating.

Last night's SmackDown featured the brand's fallout from Extreme Rules. The episode was headlined by a bar fight between Jeff Hardy and Sheamus.
