WWE Mae Young Classic episode four results: Kairi Sane debuts

Episode four of the WWE Mae Young Classic was 50 minutes of solid, quick matches, highlighted by the performances of Tessa Blanchard and Kairi Sane, who competed in the featured bout of the show.

The next four episodes of the tournament will be released on the WWE Network on Monday, then the live final will air after SmackDown on September 12th.

Candice LeRae defeated Renee Michelle

LeRae won with an impressive swinging neckbreaker off the top rope. The Full Sail crowd was loud and animated, chanting “Candice Wrestling" like “Johnny Wrestling" for her husband Johnny Gargano, who was shown in the crowd.

The best spot of the match was a stiff elbow exchange in the corner by Michelle, who then tried to bounce off the ropes, only to have LeRae follow her and knock her in the mouth with her own elbow.

In round two, LeRae is set to face the winner of Nicole Savoy vs. Reina Gonzalez, which will take place later in the show.

Lacey Evans defeated Taynara Conti

Conti came to the ring carrying the Brazilian flag, but unlike the plethora of successful Brazilian stars in MMA, she played the role of SD Jones in this match. Evans embraced her daughter while entering the ring, another sign that she was probably going to come out on top.

Conti played the heel role well with great facial expressions while Evans did her best Sgt. Slaughter. Evans went from a handstand on the top rope into a Bronco Buster before hitting a reverse Styles Clash for the pin and win.

She faces Toni Storm in the second round. After the match, Conti refused to shake Evans’ hand.

Nicole Savoy defeated Reina Gonzalez

Savoy won with an armbar submission in what was the weakest match on this episode. At six feet tall, Gonzalez is an impressive wrestler and has grappling in her blood. She is the daughter of former Texas wrestler Ricky Gonzalez, who went by the name “Desperado."

They billed Savoy as a suplex machine, but Gonzalez was clearly too big for her to throw around. The SHIMMER veteran sold a knee injury really well after Gonzalez put her in a forward Boston Crab. The finish was Savoy working out of a fireman's carry into an armbar for the tapout.

Gonzalez has a long way to go, but her size will keep her in the conversation for a push if she can make it out of NXT.

Savoy will face LeRae in the next round.

Kairi Sane defeated Tessa Blanchard

Sane got the star treatment here and the crowd really wanted to cheer for her. Jim Ross referenced Sane being a yachtsman, which explained her boat captain ring attire. Sane is fast and has a lot of energy, but Blanchard really came across as a star here as well.

Blanchard displayed good ring psychology, and incredible facial expressions, playing the role of the heel in the match. She was laying in hard elbows to Sane in the corner before Sane exploded with a spear to get the crowd on its feet chanting "Kairi...Kairi."

Shinsuke Nakamura was in the crowd presumably to show his support of Sane, who got the win in a hard-hitting match after delivering her famous elbow drop off the top rope after dropping Blanchard with an Alabama Slam.

Sane had a sensational debut and will face Bianca Belair next.
