WWE Superstars results: Jinder Mahal picks up a win

Darren Young v Jinder Mahal

The Big Takeaway: Jinder Mahal got only his third win since he returned to the company against Darren Young, who now finds himself on a losing streak.

Titus O’Neil defeated Curtis Axel (5:34)

It's certainly been more fun watching Axel as a babyface, he has a cheeky charm that carries well live. They lock up and Axel dodges all of O’Neil’s attempts to get to him, finally catching him with a dropkick and then being forced off him by the ref. O’Neil is angered by this initial onslaught and hits a huge big boot and then goes to work on Axel in the corner.

Axel tries to come off the second rope with a crossbody, but gets caught and back dropped to hell. O’Neil then slams him to the mat for a two count. O’Neil puts on a rear chinlock. Axel fights out only to be scoop slammed to the mat.

O’Neil singles out a crowd member, not shown on camera, and picks on him. He does this often -- I noticed that he blew them a kiss at the bell, too. He continues to taunt Axel, mimicking his "Axel-Mania" catchphrase.

Axel gets his knees up to block O’Neil’s charge and then gets the heat, taking out his legs, snapmaring him, and then trying for the Perfect Plex. O’Neil blocks it so Axel goes for a charge to the corner, but O’Neil is wise to it, dodging and immediately hitting the Clash of the Titus for the win.

Jinder Mahal defeated Darren Young (w/ Bob Backlund) (8:20)

They lock up and Mahal whimps out of the way of Young at the ropes, flashing the Shanti sign as he does so. Young takes him down with a waist lock takedown and they exchange hammerlocks.

Young puts on a side headlock and then works over Mahal but he blocks Young’s attempt at a back body drop on the apron and smashes Young with a lovely-looking big boot as we head to a break.

Mahal is working over the thwarted Young as we return. He nails Young in the corner with uppercuts and forearms and stands on his neck. Young takes a two count and Mahal locks on a rear chinlock. Mahal back body drops Young and he looks to Backlund for help. Mahal goes back to the chinlock, goading Backlund.

Young counters another back body drop with a crossbody and grabs a two count. He belly-to-back suplexes him and then finally nails Mahal with the back body drop on the apron. He goes for the Gut Check, but Mahal finds his way out and uses an arm trap neckbreaker for his first win since September.
