DragonKing Dark: Roald Dahl’s ‘Tales of the Unexpected’

On this episode of DragonKing Dark, I take a look at an amazing show written by Roald Dahl, Tales of the Unexpected.

It’s a wonderful show that ran for nine seasons from 1979-1988 and can be found on Tubi (free) or with an Amazon Prime subscription. (It’s also getting rebooted.)

Similar in many ways to The Twilight Zone but with a more sinister undertone, I look at the very first episode, an often repeated tale of a bet made between a teenage sailor and a mysterious, eccentric, older gentleman. But, the wager is a strange one and the twist ending is also bizarre. This retro television episode is one that will stick with you and make you uncomfortable, but is yet enjoyable.
