Semifinals set for Impact number one contender’s tournament

The semifinals are set for Impact Wrestling’s number one contender’s tournament.

The promotion has announced that both semifinal matches will air on next Tuesday’s episode of Impact. They are Michael Elgin vs. Trey Miguel and Hernandez vs. Ace Austin.

Elgin defeating Sami Callihan and Austin defeating Rhino in first round matches aired last night. After an angle where Elgin attacked Ken Shamrock last week, Austin replaced Shamrock in the tournament.

Miguel advanced to the semifinals by defeating Rohit Raju, while Hernandez defeated Madman Fulton.

The winner of the number one contender’s tournament will challenge Tessa Blanchard for the Impact World Championship. A triple threat match for the title between Blanchard, Elgin, and Eddie Edwards was supposed to headline Rebellion last month, but Blanchard and Edwards weren’t able to attend Impact’s tapings due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a match from the Deaner Compound, Impact Tag Team Champions The North (Josh Alexander & Ethan Page) will defend their titles against Cody Deaner and a member of the Deaner family on next week’s Impact. Kimber Lee vs. Jessicka Havok is also set for the show.
