WWE SmackDown live results: Triple H anniversary celebration begins


The build to Money in the Bank continues as SmackDown takes place from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, tonight. 

The Triple H 25th anniversary celebration also begins on tonight's show. is pushing that the celebration will cover Triple H's entire career from his days as Jean-Paul Levesque to D-X to becoming a main eventer. 

Tonight features two Money in the Bank qualifying matches. In the women's qualifying match, Lacey Evans takes on Sasha Banks in a feud that's been building for weeks. In the men's qualifying match, Drew Gulak goes one-on-one with King Corbin. 

Women's Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross will defend their titles against Dana Brooke & Carmella. Carmella and Brooke teased problems last week before Brooke qualified for the Women's Money in the Bank ladder match.

Universal Champion Braun Strowman defends against Bray Wyatt at Money in the Bank. Tonight features a special look at the history between the former Wyatt Family stablemates.

New SmackDown tag team champions The New Day made their way down to the ring. They recapped Big E defeating The Miz and Jey Uso last week to win the tag titles. 

Kingston praised Big E for winning the titles last week in the triple threat match. He tried to get the fans to cheer, but Big E pointed out there are no fans. 

Kingston noted they have more tag team championship reigns than great teams like The Hart Foundation, The British Bulldogs, and Demolition. 

The Lucha House Party interrupted. Lince Dardo noted they've sat in the back and watched other teams get title opportunities. Dardo was about to challenge The New Day when The Miz and John Morrison interrupted. They ignored The Lucha House Party and jumped in the ring.

Miz pointed out that they never lost the titles in a tag match. Morrison noted The New Day never beat them in a traditional tag match either.

The Lucha House Party jumped in the ring. Gran Metalik screamed at Miz in Spanish. Miz didn't know what he said and asked Morrison since he wrestled in Mexico. Morrison claimed Metalik said positive things, but New Day disputed that.

The Forgotten Sons interrupted and made their way to the ring. Steve Culter noted since they came home from defending their country, they've struggled. Jaxon Ryker said Miz is a poser and only played a marine in the movies. The Forgotten Sons are the real deal. Wesley Blake pointed out they'll never know when they're going to strike.

The Forgotten Sons jumped New Day and Lucha House Party. They beat down The New Day as Miz and Morrison ran out of the ring.

They aired clips of Triple H's debut in 1995 as Hunter Hearst Helmsley. 

In the back, The Miz and John Morrison were furious about what happened. Renee Young approached and asked about The Forgotten Sons interference. Miz and Morrison were more concerned with The Lucha House Party and promised to deal with them.

They recapped King Corbin attacking and injuring Elias last week.

Michael Cole noted Elias's injuries hampered his music career. Elias can't perform or sing for the time being. 

Money In The Bank Qualifying Match: King Corbin defeated Drew Gulak (w/Daniel Bryan)

Corbin had the early advantage and taunted Gulak. Corbin was firmly in control and overpowered Gulak.

Gulak fought back and sent Corbin to the floor. He followed up with a sliding dropkick and then a shotgun dropkick, which sent Corbin over the announce table. 

Back from the break, Gulak was in control as he worked the arm. Corbin recovered and rocked Gulak with a vicious clothesline for a near fall. Gulak made a brief comeback and rolled up Corbin for a near fall.

Corbin quickly took back over and beat down Gulak with boots in the corner. Gulak fired up and rocked Corbin with a series of forearms. Corbin attempted a chokeslam, but Gulak reversed into a sunset flip for a close near fall. 

Gulak gave Corbin a dragon screw whip into the steps and hit a cross body for a near fall. 

Suddenly, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura attacked Bryan on the floor. Gulak jumped out of the ring to make the save. Corbin jumped Gulak from behind and hit the End of Days for the win. Corbin qualifies for the Money In The Bank ladder match. 

After the match, Cesaro and Nakamura held Gulak as Corbin hit him with the scepter. 

Micheal Cole and Corey Graves discussed Rob Gronkowski returning to the NFL and still being the 24/7 Champion. 

Sheamus defeated Daniel Vidot 

Vidot had a brief flurry of offense before Sheamus took over. He dominated the match and beat down Vidot. Sheamus then hit the brogue kick for the win. Throughout the match, Sheamus demanded to have respect. 

Jeff Hardy Chapter Three: The Redemption 

Hardy discussed his daughters and wanting to set a good example. They highlighted Matt and Jeff returning at WrestleMania 33 and winning the tag team titles in the ladder match. 

They aired clips of Triple H and D-X invading WCW in 1998.

Michael Cole and Corey Graves discussed Jeff Hardy again. Cole noted he'd be in the Hall of Fame someday and doesn't understand Sheamus's attitude. Sheamus was standing behind Cole and knocked his headset off.

The Lucha House Party defeated The Miz and John Morrison

Miz and Morrison had the early advantage by isolating Lince Dardo. Metalik hit a moonsault off of Dardo's shoulders for a near fall. Morrison recovered, and the heels isolated Dardo again. 

The heels kept Dardo on their side of the ring and cut him off from his partner. Morrison hit a running knee and shooting star press for a near fall. Dardo fought back and hit a handspring stunner on Morrison. 

Metalik got the hot tag and ran wild. He attempted a moonsault off the top, but Miz got his feet up. Miz tried the skull-crushing finale, but Metalki rolled through and pinned Miz for the surprise win. 

They recapped Tamina defeating Sasha Banks last week to earn a title shot against Bayley. Michael Cole announced SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley defends against Tamina at Money In The Bank.

Money In the Bank Qualifying Match: Lacey Evans defeated Sasha Banks (w/Bayley)

Banks had a hand fan with Lacey Evan's daughter's picture on it.

Evans brawled with Banks around ringside. Bayley tried to interfere, but Evans went after her. Evans attempted the women's right, but Banks smashed her hand into the ring post. 

Evans recovered and hit a running knee. Banks fought back and attacked Evans's injured hand.

Banks followed up with the Meteora for a near fall.  

Evans made a brief comeback and smashed Banks' head into the ring post. Evans attempted a superplex, but Banks attacked Evans's hand and escaped. Banks locked on the Banks statement, but Evans made it to the ropes. 

Evans rocked Banks with the women's right, but Bayley put Banks foot on the bottom rope. Evans went after Bayley, and Banks rolled up Evans, but the referee was trying to get Bayley out of the ring. 

Banks was furious and told Bayley to stay out of it. Banks turned around, and Evans hit the women's right for the win. Evans qualifies for the Money In The Bank ladder match.

After the match, Tamina ran out and rocked Bayley with a superkick on the ramp. 

The History of Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman

The video package highlighted Braun Strowman's time as a member of The Wyatt Family and his debut. It jumped to five years later when Strowman defeated Bill Goldberg for the Universal title. Last week, Wyatt and The Firefly Funhouse gave Strowman a present, which was Strowman's old black sheep mask when he was a member of The Wyatt Family.

They recapped the Mandy Rose-Otis-Sonya Deville-Dolph Ziggler feud. 

In the back, Dana Brooke approached Carmella. Brooke noted Carmella has a Money In The Bank qualifying match next week. Carmella said Brooke inspired her last week, but tonight they're focused on winning the Women's tag team titles. 

They aired clips of Triple H injuring his quad in May 2001 and making his return at Madison Square Garden eight months later. 

Wommen's Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross defeated Dana Brooke & Carmella 

Brooke caught Cross with a dropkick to start the match. Carmella hit a crossbody off the apron onto Bliss on the floor. Cross recovered and took out Carmella, but Brooke hit a crossbody on Cross off the barricade. 

Back from the break, Carmella rocked Bliss with a series of clothesline. On the floor, Brooke hit a handspring elbow on Cross. Bliss hit a sliding dropkick on Brooke. 

Carmella had the match won, but Cross made the blind tag. Cross and Bliss then hit an assisted DDT/modified 3 D for the win to retain the titles. 

Triple H 25th Anniversary Celebration 

Triple H couldn't believe that it's been 25 years. Suddenly, Shawn Michaels's music hit and he made his way to the ring. Michaels noted Triple H couldn't have this celebration without him. 

Michales said he has two words for you, but Triple H put his arm around him. Michaels pushed him away and shouted, "Social Distancing." Michaels said he called all of Triple H's family and friends. He said they're all here to celebrate with him. They looked around the empty arena and pointed out Corey Graves and Michael Cole. 

Michaels started talking about his 25th anniversary special on SmackDown. Michaels asked Triple H what his favorite moment from Michaels' 25th-anniversary celebration was. Triple H didn't have an answer. Michaels noted that's because he didn't have a 25th-anniversary special. Triple H was shocked that he didn't. 

Michaels and Triple H talked about their time as D-X and that they were always gold. They never made a mistake, and always got it done in one take. 

They aired a D-X video package featuring bloopers and their funniest moments. Michaels talked about Triple H's WrestleMania moments. Michaels always thought about himself as Mr. WrestleMania, but Triple H is.

The video packed highlighted all of Triple H's losses, including to the Ultimate Warrior, Undertaker, and Ronda Rousey beating him up. Triple H asked about Michaels losses at WrestleMania. Michaels said this isn't about him. 

They got serious and started talking about his career. Michaels said there was only one hiccup when he met Stephanie McMahon. He called her Stepanie No Fun. Stepanie called Triple H on his phone and said she's watching right now. She knows what Michaels is saying and can see him mocking her, so Triple H hung up.

Ric Flair then called Triple H and Michaels. He praised both of them and told Triple H not to let Michales superkick him at the end of the segment. Flair started crying, so he got off the phone. Triple H noted Flair just couldn't control it. Flair called back, and he was balling. They suddenly cut to a commercial break.

Back from the break, Roadogg called Triple H next. Michaels signaled for Triple H to get off the phone. Triple H just hung up. Michaels noted they don't have a lot of time. Triple H talked to FOX, and they can go as long as they want. Michaels said that's good because he didn't even get to the Katie Vick angle. 

Vince McMahon came out but stayed on the ramp. Michaels decided to step back and let McMahon and Triple H have the spotlight.

McMahon referred to Triple H as his son-in-law and Paul. He also called Triple H boring and compared his performances to the Gobbledy Gooker. McMahon brought up the Katie Vick angle and said he doesn't know why Triple H would do that to a mannequin. McMahon then brought up the Bayley This Is Your Life segment and said it was terrible. He also noted it wasn't Bayley's fault. 

McMahon said Triple H was terrible, and this is a terrible way to go out. He said he loves Triple H but kicked him out. McMahon left and turned the lights off with Triple H and Michaels still in the ring. They played cricket sounds as the show ended. Triple H and Michaels were both laughing as McMahon strutted off.
