Impact Wrestling results: The best of 2017, part one

Tonight: Impact looks back at the best of 2017.

Show Recap --

- Josh Mathews kicked off the show by looking back at the ownership change from earlier in the year when Anthem took over from Dixie Carter.

- Bruce Prichard made his debut on the first night of the Anthem Era. He talked about the old Impact and announced that the initials TNA were dead. Prichard introduced the face of Impact -- and then-Impact World Champion -- Bobby Lashley.

Prichard praised Lashley and said there was nobody who could challenge him for the title. This brought out Alberto El Patron making his Impact debut to confront Lashley.

Alberto El Patron defeated Impact World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley

This was the main event of the first Impact of the Anthem Era. El Patron ducked a clothesline and Lashley collided with referee Brian Hebner, which brought out referee Brian Stiffler. Lashley avoided a superkick and El Patron connected with Stiffler.

Lashley tried to use the championship belt, but El Patron got a hold of it and used it to win the match. However, later El Patron was forced to give up the championship because he used illegal tactics.

- A brief recap aired on the return of LAX.

Low Ki defeated Trevor Lee, Sonjay Dutt, Andrew Everett, Dezmond Xavier, and Suicide to win the X Division Championship

At one point, all six guys attempted a standing dropkick at the same time. Lee was able to isolate Everett and control the match, though Everett ended up hitting a springboard Shooting Star Press to the floor. Low Ki knocked Everett off the top and hit the Warrior’s Way on Lee to win the championship.

Jeremy Borash and Josh Mathews argued on commentary throughout. After the match, JB knocked out Mathews.

Impact World Tag Team Champions LAX (w/ Konnan, Homicide, and Diamante) defeated Decay (w/ Rosemary) in a street fight to retain their titles

Abyss and Crazzy Steve brought a table and two barbwire boards into the match. LAX used a chair, trash can, and kendo stick to gain the advantage. Rosemary accidentally spit the mist into Abyss’ eyes and Ortiz speared him through one of the barbwire boards. They placed the second board on top of Abyss and used the Street Sweeper.

Steve placed Ortiz on the table and covered him in thumbtacks. LAX made a comeback and gave Steve the powerbomb/blockbuster combo through the table with tacks to retain the gold.

Sonjay Dutt defeated Low Ki to win the X Division Championship

This took place in Mumbai, India. Dutt was in control early until Low Ki took over and gained the upper hand. Dutt made a brief comeback and scored a close near fall. Low Ki countered a sunset flip into a double foot stomp for a two count.

Dutt used a tornado DDT and a splash to win the championship. Following the match, Mahabali Shera and the X Division guys came out to celebrate Dutt's title win.

Next Week: Impact continues to look back at the best of 2017.
