Dakota Kai address injury prone tag from fans

Dakota Kai’s WWE run was filled with several high moments as well as several injury hiatuses.

A part of the WWE roster from 2017 to 2022, Kai returned in the latter half of 2022 as part of Bayley’s Damage CTRL. She remained a part of the faction and the roster before WWE released Kai from her contract, ending her second tenure with the promotion.

However, her time in WWE was filled with multiple injuries. Recently speaking on Ring The Belle, Kai opened up and addressed the “injury prone” tag she received from fans online.

I understand it because I did have a bout of injuries and things like that; it was just bad luck on my end. It’s one of those things that will just unfortunately be there; a lot of people go through it that have had injuries as well, and it is what it is.

It does tend to get to me sometimes because I’m like ‘no, I’m not! I’m friggin strong!’ or whatever. But that’s just the perception they have, and all I can do is go out there and continue to do matches and hopefully change the perception of that, but I did have a bad bout for a second there; it was just bad luck. It is what it is,” Kai shared.

Dakota Kai’s injuries in WWE

Earlier last year, in January 2025, Kai hurt herself when she and IYO Sky teamed up to face Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler on the January 20, 2025 episode of RAW. Before that, in 2023, Dakota Kai was sidelined with an ACL injury when she tore her ACL. She also suffered a torn meniscus injury in 2024 and an ACL injury in 2019.

Now known as Charlie, she last wrestled Shotzi Blackheart for the HOG Women’s title on HOG Culture Clash 2026.
