Former WWE couple Dakota Kai and Karl Fredericks are now engaged to be married.

On Friday’s edition of her Zelvx and Charlie Girl podcast, Kai (Cheree Crowley) revealed Fredericks proposed to her on their two-year anniversary. They ended up getting engaged in Sanford, Florida after Fredericks had to make a modification to his original plans.

Kai and Fredericks went out to dinner on their anniversary and Fredericks planned to take her to a garden area after — but it was closed. On the fly, Fredericks decided to go to Sanford, a city that holds significance to the couple because it’s where they had their second-ever date. He went through with the proposal there, and Kai said yes.

The engagement is something Fredericks has been planning for a while, with Kai noting that he asked her parents for their permission when they went to New Zealand for Christmas.

Both Kai and Fredericks departed WWE in a round of releases in May 2025. Fredericks, who competed in NXT using the name “Eddy Thorpe,” stated that he requested his release.

Kai now uses “Charlie” as her wrestling name. After her release from WWE, she took a break from the ring to recharge her batteries before returning this March. Kai has only worked a couple of indie matches so far. She co-hosts the Zelvx and Charlie Girl podcast with the former Zelina Vega.

DJing and making music has been a big focus for Fredericks post-WWE. In wrestling, he’s set to co-produce a show with Produce Wrestling this October.
