Gunther attacks Nick Aldis following WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event announcement
The issues between Gunther and Nick Aldis are far from over.
It was announced on Friday that at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Gunther would be teaming with Sami Zayn to take on Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. Not liking this outcome, Gunther responded by attacking Aldis and placing him in a rear naked choke.
Earlier in the night, Gunther was unhappy about the opening of SmackDown, which saw Cody Rhodes officially challenging Punk for SummerSlam. The Ring General, angry, demanded Nick Aldis remedy the situation. But when Aldis made the match for SNME, Gunther responded in anger, choking out the SmackDown GM. Officials were able to separate the two once, only for Gunther to come back and sink in the sleeper again.
Punk won the title from Sami Zayn in the main event of Monday’s Raw, ending Zayn’s title run after only nine days. Aldis mentioned during SmackDown that Zayn was taking a mental health break following the loss.
