Adam Copeland and Christian Cage to defend AEW Tag Team titles on Dynamite
The AEW World Tag Team titles will be on the line tonight in Boston.
In a video posted by AEW just hours before the show is set to begin, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage announced that they will defend their titles against Death Riders members Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta.
Cage and Cope said in the promo:
Cope: “Two weeks ago on Collision, Dogs, Death Riders, you attacked me and the Bang Bang Gang. You left us all laid out in the ring. Mission accomplished.”
Cage: “Well, I wasn’t there, so what did you expect would happen when Jay White is your backup instead of me?”
Cope: “Either way, tonight, we’re fighting champions. So we’re gonna put the titles on the line, and we’re starting with Garcia and Wheeler Yuta. Tonight, Death Riders, it’s on.”
On the July 2 edition of AEW Collision in San Diego, Copeland teamed with the Bang Bang Gang in a win over Shane Taylor Promotions. The Dogs and Death Riders attacked them after the match. Cage was not at the show.
This will be the second time Copeland and Cage have defended the titles since defeating FTR for the belts at Double or Nothing. They successfully defended against Clark Connors and David Finlay at Forbidden Door in San Jose on June 28.
