Maple Leaf Pro/MLP Mayhem started airing this week, and the debut episode of the show had an appearance from a former WWE and AEW/ROH tag team.

The Grizzled Young Veterans appeared on the show defeating Jesse Bieber & Johnny DeLuca in pretty much a squassh match. The duo, comprised of Zack Gibson and James Drake, were added to the AEW roster around 10 months ago and they have predominately been appearing on ROH programming since then.

Grizzled Young Veterans debut in MLP

The UK duo, who made a name for themselves in companies like PROGRESS, Rev Pro and 5 Star Wrestling*, have not been on AEW programming specifically since AEW Collision in February, where they lost to Eddie Kingston and Ortiz at Maximum Carnage.

GYV will also be appearing in another taped episode at some point in a four way match (Capitan Suicida & Mascara Dorada vs El Reverso & Mo Jabari vs Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) vs The Swirl (Blake Christian & Lee Johnson), which was recorded back on June 13.

*5 Star Wrestling was only worth watching because Gibson’s promos were hilarious. This was the same company that offered CM Punk a $1 Million dollars to come out of retirement in 2017.
