WWE SNME main event confirmed
Michael Cole revealed the main event for SNME on July 18 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Cole revealed the main event in his interview on The Sal Licata Show between CM Punk and Cody Rhodes against Gunther and Sami Zayn.
“The main event on Saturday will be a tag team match with CM Punk, the WWE Champion, teaming with Cody Rhodes, the guy he meets at SummerSlam for the title against Gunther and Sami Zayn,” stated Cole.
The match came about after Zayn snapped at Punk for capturing the Undisputed WWE Championship in an unexpected return on the July 6 edition of Raw. Rhodes was originally scheduled to challenge Zayn for the title, but he was taken out backstage by Gunther before the match could take place. Despite spending the past month at odds with Rhodes, Zayn’s recent conflict with Punk forced them to put their differences aside and team up against Punk and Rhodes.
The SNME match card also features Danhausen against JD McDonagh in a No Disqualification match. Bayley and Lyra Valkyria settle their scores in the ring after a heated confrontation on Raw this week. The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Brie Bella and Paige defend the titles against Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley of Fatal Influence.
While not slated to have a match, Roman Reigns will be in appearance with New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson at Madison Square Garden.
